He said you're only with him because you were...using him for advanced age? What? Delusional. I love though that the only things he could say positively about himself are being old and tall

My shittiest ex called me on Valentines Day weeks after we broke up saying he had planned to propose that day. I was so annoyed, like fool, I hate that holiday which he knew well, and as if I'd have said yes. 100% too it was pure manipulation and not a real plan he had.

Imagine realizing at the last minute that your partner is so disinterested that you need to tell him to start preparing/educating himself. And then having to gather the resources yourself too!

OMG same! He's a fantastic guy but I wouldn't want anyone I know irl to read my comments and posts- I don't even know a single friend's username and will happily keep it that way

If I agreed to go on a date with a nasty old fart, he better be bringing a lot of something else to the table. What the heck is this idiot thinking?!

My thoughts are: being consistent (not hot and cold), gives you appropriate space and isn't all up in your business trying to get your attention 24/7, and the nice gestures are suited to you (e.g. buys you a coffee from your favourite spot vs big gestures for any random person)

First of all I can't even imagine a loving partner asking this of their wife, but on top of that seeing him put duct tape on his daughter's face and thinking "this is fine." How incredibly depressing for the wives, their daughters, and the type of men these boys will grow up to be

"They don't know what ladies want." Seriously? Does it take any brain power to guess a partner wants some reciprocation if you aren't total trash?

My first boyfriend used to make fun of how I cut my toenails. He believed they need to be cut as far as you can go down so no white was showing. Guess who got a raging ingrown big toenail...and still didn't believe me!!!

I had a lot of issues dating shorter guys and how weird they acted/this odd inferiority complex. I'm lucky the guy I'm dating now is so relaxed/able to make positive jokes about being shorter than me. I recently sent him a snapchat of new super high heeled boots I just bought, and all his comments were complementing the boots, and general excitement for going on a date while I wear them (in a good way not a creepy way).

Personally I say find something that brings you peace/tranquility and add it to the part of the day you feel lowest/start to ruminate on bad thoughts. Use this time to appreciate the fact you are on your own with no interruptions. It can be anything from inspecting each houseplant, playing with your pets, lighting candles, to meditation/yoga. Even better if it is something you would have been shamed for by your ex e.g. your ex hated your plant collection so this is time you inspect every leaf on…

I feel so bad for her tiptoeing around a conversation by blaming the topic not the man. These talks are definitely not difficult to navigate with a good partner

I was having a chat with a male friend and we were talking about dating. He casually mentioned the "truth" of men "peaking later" and after a firm telling off, I had to end our phone call early to re-evaluate this friendship.

I (32, F, bi), briefly ventured back on to online dating with an age range of now people in their 30s. At first I only filtered for women and everything looked pretty normal, but when I began seeing the men in their 30s I was blown away. I was shocked at what years of no working out, poor hygiene, and a lack of grooming did when they no longer had youth on their side. I see it at work, but just assumed that on a dating profile they would make some effort, not nope! I ended up deleting the app

There is no such thing as "withholding sex." If you don't want to have sex with your partner for any reason at all, or even no reason at all, that isn't abuse.

I had to google it! It seems like it's the method of "getting distracted on purpose" by your phone. She'll be telling him something and he'll suddenly get a thing on his phone he needs to check, and respond to, and then something else while she waits awkwardly and the conversation dies

Is it worth trying to date when you're still working on yourself? My closest friends and family are in a neighbouring city and I have a high risk job. I'm trying to build a local network/new winter hobbies but darn it's lonely

Every thing she listed that he buys, she buys something more expensive or complicated. No thank you. Dinner is a bigger purchase than lunch. Snacks are the most expensive parts of movies. A whole nice suit for one pair of shoes?!

Last week I thought a woman was following me and got nervous so started the usual walk fast/cross the road routine. She called out to me that she was sorry and walking loops on the block to warm up waiting for an appointment. We kept our distance, both laughed, and it was a pleasant ending. I've never had a man do this when they realize they're making me nervous, if they ever do. It's either silence or a sarcastic/angry response which really doesn't help

The female mice not being used in studies because of hormones makes me so mad. Like, if female hormones make a pill less effective or less safe, that seems like even more reason to test on female mice before prescribing it to female women!

I would be mortified trying to explain to my parents that my partner and all his friends peed in their hot tub.

If he had just peed in the hot tub and then later after hearing her side gave a very sincere apology + found a way to make up for it + cleaned the heck out of the tub, I wouldn't have. With everything he did instead, definitely divorce, no coming back from that.

After my 3rd date with my current bf, he brought me a full homemade meal before my set of night shifts. He knew I was bored of my meal preps and wanted to share something new he cooked with me. I get stressed in my pre-work rush out the door so he came by just long enough to give me the dinner, meet my cat, and then make plans for a next date on my days off. After a string of bad relationships and dates it was eye opening

My first boyfriend was the absolute worst and friends/family tried to warn me but I didn't listen. The first/only time he came with me to my parents house, he was so mean to my beloved family cat (just rude to my best boy, didn't hurt him). That was what snapped me out of it and made me realize he was a waste of my time

Reading your post, you're 31, you are so young! You're in your best years/still have so many best years ahead and honestly your bf doesn't sound worth wasting another day on. You have time to grow and thrive and meet someone who will treat you with love and respect

I've been dating a new guy for about a month and overall he checks all the boxes - kind, funny, lives in a tidy well kept apartment on his own, good job and education. He's also treated me better so far than any other man I've dated and seems to really like me. He appearance-wise isn't my usual type though and I'm not feeling a lot of chemistry. The only time we've had sex so far it was...not great. Should I keep going with the relationship?
