DoctorsI want to take it a step further here and ask how many of you are then accused of being medically negligent for NOT immediately taking the kids to a doctor for any given symptom? | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/05/23 11:29 AM
As a father, What things you can include in final MSA to reduce future conflict with STBXW?If another person wants conflict, they’ll find a way to create it. They’ll violate terms they agreed to and then in order to enforce those terms, you’ll have to get attorneys and the court involved again. It’s a vicious cycle. Stay cool, choose your words carefully, and let your values guide you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/23 02:27 AM
I am an emotional mess today…There is no quick fix for what you are experiencing. But everything does indeed pass. Impermanence is definite and infinite. Rest assured that you can safely go about your business and be ready to accept whatever comes your way. Over time, your ex’s influence on you will wane and you will be in a place you did not realize was available. I found writings by Thich Nhat Hanh to be quite helpful as I shifted from a situation not unlike yours. He has many writings that are comforting and applicable l… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/12/22 02:45 AM
Hard day for no particular reason. It’s a hard day for a damn good reason. Allow yourself to be emotional about it - it sucks, man. Come here and vent it out or let it loose with family/friends that you trust. But don’t let her push you into thinking that you’re unreasonable and that the use of those funds is your fault; that sounds like a manipulation tactic. Hang in there, you can do it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/01/22 02:16 AM
When does staying together get harder than leaving?Same here. It’s within us to get our lives on track. We can do it. It’s going to be hard but it can be done. The alternative is being miserable and wishing we’d done something differently when our time really is up. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/01/22 05:50 PM
When does staying together get harder than leaving?OP, you may be suffering from clinical depression. Make that Doctor’s appointment and talk about it. Your Doc may be able to recommend a therapist who can help you through it - this will take some of the burden off of you to find someone yourself which is oftentimes a big hurdle for someone struggling with depression. When I wrote above that “you may be suffering,” I chose that word on purpose. It is 100% true suffering. You sound like you are in pain, my friend. Simply waking up this morning ig… | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/01/22 12:39 PM
Is it supposed to get worse?Try to make room for the pleasant feelings and for the unpleasant feelings. They’re all valid but impermanent. Everything comes and goes. Our pain comes from holding on too tightly to the past or reaching too far into the future. Take time to just…be; even if it’s just for a few moments at a time. I’m sorry you’re going through something so terrible. It sucks. The community has your back. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/12/21 01:37 AM
Custody ScheduleOP, this is similar to what my Stbxw wants to do for parenting time. I’m not a fan. I’ve been consistent in asking for a more stable 50/50 for almost 2 years now and she refuses. We live 18 minutes apart. What have been the pros and cons for you with this schedule? Do you ever feel burned out? | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/12/21 12:54 AM
Standing TogetherIt is absolutely amazing how common this exact scenario appears to be. In my case, my ex wife had already engaged in infidelity and then wanted to continue it by demanding a trial separation. It was part of her way of justifying her actions. Stay strong - it’s a rocky road and from time to time you’ll question what you really want. But you already know the answer. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/12/21 03:42 PM
Fellas, hang in thereCould have written this myself. Remarkable parallels. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/10/21 07:32 PM
Am I overreacting?OP, it’s not an overreaction on your part. I experience the same thing you described in your post. It’s incredibly frustrating and is meant to evoke a reaction from us. Remember, you are allowed to feel whatever comes to you, but your actions can either be helpful or unhelpful. Keep your cool and keep taking good care of your kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/10/21 11:52 PM
Depression phaseSame timeline here, too. Divorce not yet finalized. I go through periods of having moved on completely and feeling good to being in a downright funk. I chalk it up to being part of the process. We’ll be alright. I’m at my best when I’m really focused on me, mindfully contacting the present moment only. When I reach back to the past, I bring myself to “now.” When I dig toward the future, I bring myself to “now.” Now is all we have and it’s all we need. Stay strong, brothers. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/07/21 12:39 AM
