I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that overly dramatic. I'm sure there will be backlash, but comparing it to the dark ages is preposterous.

In addition to the gendered perspective, the separation of blameless victims and fully responsible abusers is a false dichotomy. Several studies have demonstrated that a good majority (60-70% I think) of violent relationships are reciprocally violent. Often so-called "abusers" are victims of abuse themselves and "victims", even when they are not violent, often exhibit very destructive and aggressive behaviors themselves.

How reliable is the 1 in 6 number? Checking the website they've got a few sources listed but I'd like to know if anyone is aware of an in-depth criticism of these claims that I can check out?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
