I don't dispute that about private prisons. But you can think and expect the same about state run prisons. And they that has to pay them money for every inmate. Meanwhile the DEA Teamed up with the CCA They tryna lock niggas up They tryna make new slaves See that's that privately owned prison Get your piece today They can't produce water or energy. They have to be insured. They can't do Security. They can't do Inmate Health Care. They can't do Operations (Facility operations (maintenance, utilit…

According to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, the average annual cost of incarceration in Federal prisons in 2010 was $28,284 per inmate. That cost is reduced at the Federal Community Corrections Centers; in 2010 the annual cost was $25,838. According to the California Legislative Analyst?s Office, the annual cost of incarceration in the Golden State in 2009 was $47,102 per year. To arrive at this figure, California analysts took into account the cost of security, health care, operations, administrat…

No. Read at least the articles and why they were exonerated. You can't just execute them. And take away their legal rights. How in your head is that okay. A recent survey of the most leading criminologists in the country from found that the overwhelming majority did not believe that the death penalty is a proven deterrent to homicide. Eighty-eight percent of the country’s top criminologists do not believe the death penalty acts as a deterrent to homicide, according to a new study published in th…

Other methods are just as expensiv, because it is not the drug cocktail, which costs all that money.

Yeah, because no convictions were overturned after the first verdict. That is bullshit. There are peolple like Mike Nifong in the justice system. Or Thomas J. Maloney (actual death row case). Victims like Walter McMillian (the jury only wanted life, the judge death, he was innocent), Randall Dale Adams, Glenn Ford, Ricky Jackson and Wiley Bridgeman, Anthony Charles Graves( the prosecutor who put him in prison was ultimately disbarred for concealing exculpatory evidence and using false testimony …

Also the price of a leathal injection: It’s true that the actual execution costs taxpayers fairly little: while most states remain mum on the cost of lethal injections because of privacy concerns from pharmaceutical companies, it’s estimated that the drugs run about $100 (the Texas Department of Criminal Justice put the cost of their drug cocktails at $83 in 2011). However, the outside costs associated with the death penalty are disproportionately higher. Source

The greatest costs associated with the death penalty occur prior to and during trial, not in post-conviction proceedings. Even if all post-conviction proceedings (appeals) were abolished, the death penalty would still be more expensive than alternative sentences. (Source) The death penalty diverts resources from genuine crime control measures. Spending money on the death penalty system means: Reducing the resources available for crime prevention, mental health treatment, education and rehabilita…

Taxpayers have spent more than $4 billion on capital punishment in California since it was reinstated in 1978, or about $308 million for each of the 13 executions carried out since then, according to a comprehensive analysis of the death penalty's costs. (latimes Seems like a good plan...
