Good point, but I do not intend to utilize that aspect of Dread. You're right, it's counter intutive. However, there are many other functions (self improvement, invovement with things outside of the relationship, joining clubs, etc) that will undoubtedly help rebuild the relationship. I am also open to more suggestions!

Thank you for this! Great article....exactly what I need to reframe.

Thanks for the response, but I'll happily take responsibility for this. I'd argue I was too hard headed to see that she was gf material. She bent over backwards for me and treated me like a fucking king. She honored masculinity and played her part. I got complacent and greedy when I should have kept to my word as a man. I am not against open relationships but the lines were clear: we were monogamous. This is clearly my fault and I'm big enough to admit that I'd probably be in a great dom/sub rel…

Not to sound naive but I doubt it, I wish it was that simple

Yes you're right. I suppose my point is that even though she seemed like a unicorn the minute I broke alpha status she showed her true colors. To comment two and three: abundance and dread in an LTR where trust is the main problem? Interesting and seems necessary but how do you suppose I execute that given the nature of the relationship?

Just read a RP essential: "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Robert Glover. Highly recommended for those who just swallowed the RP.

As a guy who just recently swallowed the RP, your post struck a nerve. Transitioning a BP LTR to a RP one takes patience and discipline. I've been with my LTR for almost 2 years and the last half of it I've been completely BP due to laziness and comfort, basically giving her permission to walk all over me. Recently, I've been applying RP. Sometimes it sticks, other times I get insane blow back. It's been tough but this post has inspired me to stay the course.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
