I'm a med student, and it's NUTS how many doctors smoke (usually male doctors).

It's not that you're intellectually incapable of handling it, but rather emotionally.

I currently work full-time, so my husband actually does some stuff around the house, too :D I mostly do housework on the weekends right now. Also I would recommend getting up (and also going to bed) with/at the same time as your husband. It can create resentment if he sees you sleeping in every day, and going to bed at the same time is super beneficial for couples (not just for sex reasons). Also that way you can make him breakfast and help him get ready for work! Then when he's left for work yo…

My goal is for things to run as smoothly as possible. I try to be very observant and proactive so my husband never has to point anything out to me that needs to be done. So if we're running low on toothpaste, I buy another two tubes, store them in the bottom shelf of the bathroom cabinet and once the tube is empty, I throw it away and put a new one on the sink. Same with laundry, dishes, groceries, cleaning... if my husband has to ask me to buy more coffee creamer because he's run out (I don't d…

What are his plans for after the baby is born? Does he want you to go back to part-time work ASAP, and put the baby in daycare? If he wants you to be a SAHM anyway, there isn't much of a point in going back to work for a few months while you're pregnant. (Then again, it's just a few months, so not worth arguing about anyway.) One can probably handle the housework and a part-time job, but the housework AND the mothering AND a part-time job is pretty insane, and if you have to pay for daycare, it'…

Of course it's a simplified way of looking at things, but many relationships that turn distant and dead-bedroom-y go like this: Man: We never have sex anymore! It makes me less attracted and affectionate towards my wife outside of the bedroom! Woman: He barely pays attention to me outside the bedroom! This makes me not wanna have sex with him as much! So that would be the same vicious cycle seen from their two perspectives. What the wife can and should work on is the frequency and quality of sex…

I try to use my voice to create the effect that others achieve by using profanity. Volume, inflection, pitch, facial expression can make a "what?" much more expressive than your standard "what the f*ck?".

I think she has good points. Often, a lack of sex stems from problems in the relationship/the wife feeling distant/not listened to. Of course, it's a vicious cycle -- worse relationship leads to less sex leads to worse relationship leads to worse sex... and you can't really say which is the chicken and which is the egg. Of course it's on women to break the vicious cycle on the frequency-of-sex end, but this blog post is addressed at men, which can break the cycle in the relationshippy area.

Me! I made a resolution recently to get 30 minutes of exercise a day (except Sundays) and I've been sick but also awful in general about doing anything so

Oh man, are you me? My husband moved to where I go to med school because he does software stuff from home and can work wherever and I also totally feel like his mom sometimes. It's gotten better, though -- we've been married & living together for a little over a year now. Have you guys had a real Talk-with-a-capital-T about this? I'd recommend getting out the house, on a walk or to a restaurant or on a car ride or something, and tell him roughly what you said here (although you should avoid any …

good: my husband is finally coming back this week! there were visa issues, so we've been apart for two weeks now. also, we're taking a dance class together starting next week! i already went to the first class (by myself, since my husband is still abroad), and it was quite fun. bad: we both gained A LOT of weight since we got married seven months ago. like, 12 pounds each. trying to stop the gain train and reverse it is no easy feat. spoooooky: nothing, really. we don't really "do" halloween whe…

Do you live together? If so, clean the place up nicely and make your home extra nice and welcoming -- maybe with flowers and/or bowls of fruit/nuts. What are gonna be his tasks when he gets back? Make sure to facilitate those. For example, if he has to go back to work, make sure his suits or whatever he wears is clean and wrinkle-free and ready to wear. Help him unpack, wash the laundry he may have brought back, and very importantly, don't draw too much attention to all this stuff you're doing. …

I'll start :) Right now it's only me and my husband in a small apartment, so I don't have to do much cleaning, which is nice. I'm pretty new to all this (only been married & living together 4.5 months!), so if anyone has feedback, I'd appreciate it. Here's my routine: Monday: tidy up the livingroom and bedroom; wipe down surfaces, dust, vaccuum and mop in these room; change the bedsheets Tuesday: do laundry (usually about three loads) Wednesday: plan meals for the next week, make a shopping list…

If there's one broken window in the neighborhood, people think, "Oh, this is a crappy, not-taken-care-of neighborhood, I better smash some more windows/litter a lot/spray graffiti everywhere." If there is no broken window, everybody's afraid to be the first one to ruin the perfectness, so the neighborhood stays nice. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory Similarly, I find that once I have cleaned the entire home in one go, I want to preserve that result so I pick up after myself mo…

Good: I spent all Saturday cleaning the house, now everything's in its place and I can see the Broken Window Effect - well, not at work. It's great! I also made a more balanced housekeeping schedule and started doing some skincare. Wanna keep this face youthful for my husband :) Bad: I've been really grumpy lately, and pretty short/not patient with my husband. He's on a business trip this week, so I'm gonna try the "one week of saying only positive things" when he gets back next Monday. Ugly: My…

Why is he opposed to it? How would you taking back your old job affect his life?
