Oh, then it sounds exactly like how it sounded in my head

Because it makes the rejection final and non-negotiable. If she claims that as her threshold, then there’s literally no argument a guy could make if he’s clearly shorter than that. And think about what it means if that’s her threshold. It means that her 6’4” boyfriend just barely made it into contention. And if he were 6’3” then she would have rejected his dwarf ass from the start? Tell me if that sounds plausible.

You completely misunderstood this post. What specific aspects of this post do you think support your interpretation?

This is a great post, and it’s as meaningful for the approach as it is for the first date, as it is for the talking stage, and as it is for the relationship. It’s a crucial part of courting, which should never stop in a healthy and happy relationship.

That’s the standard she told you about because she decided to give you a failing score based on less than 3 minutes or more like 3 seconds of interaction. Why would you take her at her word? If she considers a guy to have failed, then she has no obligation to be truthful; she’ll probably just say whatever it takes to get rid of him and clear the way for another guy to try.

Confidence, vibes, and holding frame. For the latter, it’s as simple as not getting rattled or overly excited too frequently. You can obviously show personality, but when I display too much excitable emotion it seems to make me seem more childish than a potential romantic partner.

The fact that he had enough balls to walk up to her, casually chat with her, and possibly while looking normal and hygienic (and possibly not tall and attractive) probably tells her more about OP than she could acquire in the 5 subsequent minutes of conversation.

I think it started long before human society. You see, it’s usually dangerous/risky to go out on a limb because it greatly increases one’s chances of death, injury, or being ostracized. It’s rare for risky things to actually improve one’s overall well-being, which is why they’re called “risky.” Being safe at all times makes it more likely that the person/animal will survive to pass on their genes. But of course, never taking risks causes them to develop into the type of creature that nobody (or …

He’s already shown that he doesn’t value your friendship more than getting extra action on the side. If you’re supposed to be cool with him demanding that you step aside, then he better be cool with you winning the girl over.

-Dress well to fit your personality and vibe. Don't always need a business casual look like in /r/malefashionadvice, my vibe is more T-shirt and jeans, so that's what I go with most of the time. And choose clothes that fit well. When a person is in decent shape, wearing clothes that fit very well is never out of style.

I remember a date that started with the girl being visibly displeased to see that I was shorter than she must’ve expected (maybe an inch or two taller than her). She was shit-testing me at every opportunity. At some point she talked about being a feminist and way probably hoping I would fall in step. Instead, I disagreed with the notion of a guy being a feminist because I think the culture has swung too far in a certain direction and disregards how even men are forced to exist in traumatic situa…

I don’t think it’s necessary to feel guilty afterward. It’s just that if it occurs to me to stop jerking, and if I actually stop, then it feels like a mini win. But if I finish anyway, then it’s not a big deal.

I think that still triggers dopamine, which could therefore turn the edging into an addictive behavior. Don’t take my word for it because I honestly do not know.

This actually makes a lot of sense because I have heard that porn can stimulate testosterone production. But jerking will reduce it, so you truly must have the willpower to transfer that energy toward approaching actual women.

Sometimes I’ll be going at it and remember right then and there that jerking can be a libido/testosterone killer as well as contribute to a dopamine addiction. Sometimes I’ll then think “well I’ve already started, might as well finish, right?” And then I’ll remind myself that I’ve never regretted stopping the jerking right then and there to do something else, whether productive or not. Never. It’s always been either a neutral or positive change. And usually positive because I’m proud of myself f…

I would love a guide on how a guy can take a couple nice pictures himself. Like, advice on where to set up the camera, angles, lighting, posing, post-processing, etc. (whatever basic stuff the typical person can do with their iphone and timer setting). I don’t know want to drag my buddy out to take pictures of me like a wannabe Instagram influencer. I want to go on my own to a cool local art installation and take some kind of interesting picture in front of it (or whatever such a guide would rec…

These examples are always so frustrating when used to counter an observed generalization. Observation: Most guys under 5’6” will have a much more difficult time getting a first date than most guys over 5’6”. “Counterpoint”: Here’s an example of exactly one guy who is below 5’6” and doesn’t have that problem. Observation refuted!!

But that’s basically OP’s point. Guys who didn’t win the genetic lottery have to work many times harder to get to that level. Not only that, the dude who has always had it easy has now built up insane levels of confidence in those situations. So you’re 100% correct, but I think that’s pretty much exactly what OP said in his last line.

Had a date last night with a girl from a dating app. We’d ben pen pals for like 2 months before finally aligning our schedules. We meet and both suddenly learn that we’re pretty much the same height, maybe I’ve got an inch on her. Nonetheless, I’m gaming as best as I can, and things are going great. Making out on the patio of the bar. At one point she even climbs into my lap and is basically grinding all over me. Fast forward and she decides we should have just one more drink. Walk up to the bar…

You’re doing fantastically at living for yourself, but perhaps that’s not truly fulfilling. Others have keyed into your actual human need to have relationships. The pet idea is a fantastic one because the responsibility adds extra purpose to your life. I might also add for you to look for volunteering opportunities. Habitat for Humanity house building is a wonderful for meeting new people and (for a sometimes awkward person like me) having the specific tasks as an ever-present topic of conversat…

If I’m enjoying it and getting laid, what’s the problem? Bars and social places aren’t open where I live. Why are dating apps so terrible for me in your opinion?

I don’t pay anything for the apps. I chat with girls, go on dates, and sometimes bang them. However, I want to improve my profile pictures to improve the quality of my matches. What’s the problem?

I use it plenty. It’s fun and low effort during times when most people are social distancing. It’s a great tool to continue fucking girls until we are allowed to go to crowded bars again. What’s the problem?

Kinda disappointed to find very little advice for the OP other than “that’s just how some women are, it means she really likes you, so just try to enjoy it.” I’ve seen it with some women and ended things because it made my skin crawl when they acted this way. I wish I knew what to say or do to minimize this tendency in those past situations as well as in future ones, while still maintaining my frame and role in the relationship.

Good points, but I think this list is intended for more than just game. For example, it would include the workplace when you might be giving status updates or answering questions in a meeting. Like you said, it’s a helpful rule of thumb, especially for someone with a tendency of sounding weak and uncertain, but shouldn’t be adhered to unrelentingly.

If you ask a regular question and she gives a regular response, that’s your chance to respond with a smirk coupled with an eye roll and say in an obviously friendly way “ohhh of course you would say that...” She will sense you teasing her but not know exactly what it’s about — sort of like a secret you are keeping from her. She’ll ask in an embarrassed way, “whaaaaat?” and usually with a smile because she knows you’re teasing her. Then you say “oh nothing...” while maintaining the smirk. And you…

Yeah, basically the relationship felt too one-sided. She was amazing on paper — smart, pretty, funny, good career, stable family, got along amazingly with my family, etc. For some reason I just didn’t feel it back. And it’s not even that I felt like the grass was greener on the other side (being single) because even a few years later I don’t regret the breakup one bit.

Yep, and I’ve been in that seemingly perfect relationship before, where the girl basically worshiped me and a couple that made everyone jealous... and I was not happy at all.

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to write that out. You got me pegged. This was exactly the reminder I needed. My LTR is new, but she is awesome. Those other girls can wait or just disappear.

Does that mean you agree to go on these little hangouts or just say you’re busy to keep stringing them along?
/r/askTRP09/03/19 03:19 PM

Does that essentially mean hanging out with them sometimes or just being “busy” while sort of letting them think “maybe next time...”?

I think you're looking at this too much as all or nothing. There are countless idiosyncrasies in your interactions with her that show her love, comfort, security, etc. Dread game is about loosening one or more of those things a little or a lot to sort of shake her up and remind her what she may be taking for granted. Somebody else mentioned flirting lightly with another girl while yours is around. That could be innocent flirting with a waitress. When you both sit down to watch TV maybe you norma…

Your dick (I hope) isn't the only thing you bring to the relationship. Dread game either denies or makes her feel less secure about one or more aspects of the relationship that she has been taking for granted.

Indeed, that's exactly what it is. The boss is busy as hell yet he's going to take extra time to be my primary mentor. No doubt there are very positive takeaways from this -- that he actually gives a damn to help me like this. But it's still a blow to my pride, and I need to get the fuck over that and start focusing on working my ass off to prove my dedication and competence.

Basically that I've been at this position for two years, and all of my reviewers agree that I'm not at the level of productivity I should be by now and that there's serious concern I will ever get it. They know I'm an intelligent person so they worry that this is just not the role for me. Also, everyone likes me, which is a big reason why they haven't let me go and really want me to succeed. Starting tomorrow, my main boss will be my sole reviewer and I'll essentially be on a 2-month probationar…

The other answers are extremely valid. I'd just like to add that the guilt may be eating away at her. The trickle-truth helps alleviate much of that guilt because it angers OP and she therefore gets "punished" by that anger without suffering the full consequences, such as getting dumped.
