I generally keep assistance exercises at high volume (10 reps 4 sets), Unless I notice that i am lacking strength in a certain muscle. Then I would train for higher intensity (such as 5 reps 3 sets) Main lifts I go for a mix of volume and intensity - 6 reps 4 sets or 5x5. Every now and then I do heavy 3x3 for a few weeks before a deload. Unless you are on gear, training at 90%+ is very taxing on the CNS, so it’s not something that I would do frequently.

Depends on what you want. I am training for strength and size, and the only program that has ever worked for me, was a variation of full body compound lift centered routine, such as stronglifts 5x5 or starting strength. Every week I focus on main lifts (squat, deadlift, bench, overhead press) and add a few assistance lifts to strengthen my weaknesses on a main lift for a given day. My results with this program have been fantastic. I’ve been lifting this way for 8 months, after a five year hiatus…

Sounds about right. I pay over 2000/month for a shithole studio close to work. Over 33% of my income gone to taxes for a completely useless government. almost 4 bucks per gallon for shitty gasoline.
