This is in psychology known as Frequency illusion. The illusion in which a word, a name or other thing that has recently come to one's attention suddenly seems to appear with improbable frequency shortly afterwards. Colloquially, it is known as the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon.
1 in 4 women actually get raped a year.. ..in congo. I have no idea how someone can think that happens at that scale without anyone noticing. To me it's like believing in UFO abductions.
Semantics. Or are we going to argue that historically, women have been disadvantaged to men? I guess this subreddit is about something else than I thought.
