I figured the best way to react would just be to not care.

I was under the impression newbies didn't get comfort tested. I am struggling with what is and is not deering. I didn't think i was defending anything so that's what I'm confused on.

I had a say in it, she asked me a dozen different times if i was sure i was okay with it. Sister in law moved from a different city for work and needed a place to stay and get her bearings. She also takes care of their mom (sort of) and obviously her kid had to come along too. We were both fine with them moving in because "family" but then she started having her wages garnished and a bunch of other stuff so they couldn't afford rent let alone an apartment plus deposit. If i thought they could af…

I'm not used to this much silence from her. Usually it's like 15-20 minutes before i get an angry text. I thought it was a comfort test at first but after applying comfort the behaviour continued to escalate so then i thought it was a shit test.

Ive always talked too much so I'm trying to be more gradual about it. 3 weeks ago there would have been a lot more word vomit.

I just posted an update on askmrp if you don't mind taking a look at it. I'm watching your stuff on youtube right now.

I literally have no idea. I just always have.

Those are all good points. Man, it's a long road ahead of me.

I feel a lot better about myself since I've stopped. I'm so used to saying it to everything

Just so I'm making sure we have the same context, due to work we only get 2 hours together a night. We put them to bed at 9 and we both get home around 7. I suppose we alwsys have the days off. I just worry about/miss them.

Removing should is a great idea. I'm hearing what you're saying about getting out of the house but I'm not quite sure how to make that work without sacrificing time with the kids.

I wasn't asking for permission, didn't mean to give you that idea. I was asking her if her sister had given her an update on when they were moving out because if it's longer than a month i was going to get one.

On that note. Brought up s gym membership to the wife. She got upset saying "I'm not hsppy with the idea of you going to the gym while i stay home and get the kids ready" it's fine, I'll just go 5 to 6 since you don't wake up until 6:30-7 anyway" couple other exchanges blah, blah she eventually says "well i hope you have fun being single" and i calmy said "well it will be a lot easier to when I'm fit" and got out of the shower. I realized i should have sounded more amused but couldn't go back an…

Repeated or not i appreciate any input. If info is repeated by multiple users it's because they're having success with it (generally)

It took me 5 seconds to realize what this meant and the next time she's grumpy this will be the first thing that pops in my mind.

Ha, jokes on you. You can't sound like anything over text. But in all seriousness thanks for the advice Mr. Thundercock.

Mostly just focusing on lifting and improving my self verbally. Back story? Really fun guy, popular at work, loves big gestures because I like seeing what i can come up with next. In retrospect probably too much in too little time, i have a problem with pacing. I wouldn't use the word beta to describe after 10th grade. Sex is at least twice a week, I'm good looking and we both know it. I think the problem began when i started shoving down my confidence during arguments to (a) not hurt her feelin…

I'm glad you mentioned the bear hug, I've forced 4 of those on her in the last 48 hours. When you say emotional test what exactly do you mean?

I'm mainly doing calisthenics and using the dumbells i have. They're moving out in a month (after a year and a half) so I'll be able to finally finish the home gym. Especially if i can find some good deals thanks to people failing their new years resolutions.

I miss the days when i went at least 4 times a week. I can't wait for the in laws to move out because i have a power cage in the garage but I'm not buying anymore equipment because i don't trust my nephew to not maim himself with it.

I stopped saying sorry 3 days ago and i think that's changing things too. I used to say sorry for everything but now i only say it if I've done something wrong. If i did something incorrectly I've been saying things like "oh, i hadn't realized x, would you like it if I did y next time?" I told her Sunday that today was my early day and she always forgets and says i didn't tell her. Then i DEER like no other and we both get angry. Literally 5 minutes ago she called me and said i never tell her th…

I'll do that today actually, amazon doesn't have an mp3 i can buy so I'm going to search a little bit.

I had more back pain up until a month (?) Ago. I had horrible posture and have been working on it though. Are you asking if I'm overweight? Because if so, the answer is no, I'm healthier thanks to my lifestyle before i got married and have a semi fit build.

I'm an explainer, it's not so much from a place of defense but more from a "oh, if you're curious and would like to know why then...." plus i like to keep people in the loop.

Short and to the point. I'll need to remember this.

Fair points, i did get what i wanted so there's that. I mainly wanted to make sure i wasn't just making things worse and hear people's ideas on how to respond to "you don't take me seriously"

Will do. Fun captain should come natural to me, from what I've been reading it sounds a lot like who i was when we met.

Thanks :) in all seriousness i have a tendency to word vomit and just clutter things up. I've been focusing on leaving out anything unnecessary but I've been struggling with over-correcting. Clearly lol.

This is what i needed to hear (the irony is not lost on me) I've been reading people's experiences on here where they thought they were doing it right but then the comment section is full of people saying "why would you do that!?" And wanted to make sure i don't find myself in that same place.

Last night she said something and i laughed on accident. She was pretty upset but i just stayed quiet.

The within reason aspect is what I'm worried about. I don't want to give too much credit or not enough.

She was affectionate (enough, she didn't pull away when i hugged her goodbye) in the morning and after the argument. I think two weeks ago i wouldn't have gotten the hug.

What do you think the most effective mind set/tactics would be?

How i handled the situation/how i should respond in the future. I don't want to do too much, too quickly and have it blow up. I think aa and am would just make it worse when she gets to where she got this morning so do i just stick with stoic? I'm not sure how to proceed and was hoping to get some "sage advice"
/r/askMRP25/04/18 02:37 PM

Do you think that I'm handling it correctly? I went with "well okay then" so i wasn't just standing there like an autist.

Will do, I'm reading as much as i can, when i can. I wanted to make sure i wasn't doing it wrong.
