No they do not. People do not have control over how external stimuli will make them feel. Your idea, that you should just choose how things affect you, makes you incredibly vulnerable to manipulation and abuse. Your emotions are a defense mechanism to tell you when you are safe, unsafe, or in an ambiguous situation.

Most men do actually fall in love with women who are pleasant and kind to them, who they see as good people; regardless, why? Why isn't it enough that we just be good people who bring home a reliable paycheck? Why do I also have to sus out how to pretend to be a bad person in the right way?
