Feminists seem to operate on the assumption that it's a zero sum game when it comes to these issues, that if men's abuse is taken seriously that it will somehow harm women or detract from their own issues. Makes it very difficult to have a reasonable discourse with them. They'll just label you a misogynist and call it a day.

Wow that was a scary read. It really seems like society only acknowledges a man's connection/rights to his child when it's time to pay the bills. Once that part's taken care of he can fuck off apparently.

Not trying to excuse or justify this behaviour, but I think she may actually be mentally ill in addition to being full of shit. Things like inferring inappropriate coded messaging in innocuous work emails is very common in paranoid delusions. Or she just knew she was on thin ice and tried this as a last ditch to get a payout, who knows. It's pretty funny though that when a story breaks about a man genuinely being inappropriate in a business setting it's "Men, do better" but in other subs you've …

Wait it was 60 for women in the UK? That's pretty insane considering that women live longer than men across the globe. So men get to retire later and don't even live as long to enjoy it? Can't say I'm sad to see it equalized.

AITA is 75% women going by surveys. Not all of them are completely insane, but there's a pretty big double standard where if a guy is acting like a jerk he's just written off with calls for "dump his ass" "he's a child not a man" whereas if it's a woman acting badly they pull out all the stops to somehow twist her into the victim or justify her. Mental health is a big one, "sounds like she's depressed, you should take her to therapy" while men get none of that benefit of the doubt. One post ther…

I think you have a bit of a point, but frankly with how much feminist organizations directly oppose any semblance of men's advocacy, it's hard to just ignore their role in the discussion. An(imperfect) analogy would be if I was building a sand castle next to you on the beach, but every time I start expanding it you come kick it over, then tell me if I want my sand castle I need to build it myself, and I can't get angry with you over it. Many feminist organizations lose their shit when men's issu…

"Sometimes hard lessons are the best lessons" lol just...wow Her dad's an attorney and the victim was male and homeless, so I guess we should be thankful the homeless guy isn't in prison. Real justice right here...

This attitude has been pushed at least since I started high school 15 years ago, probably well before that even. Women go into college living in fear of men being out to get them and the men are walking a tight rope wanting to cultivate relationships with women but being terrified of being booted out of university/criminal charges if they say the wrong thing. And the problem seems to be getting worse not better. And they wonder why millennials and gen z are having less sex/relationships than eve…

"Any sort of drunken sex is considered rape" ah but only if it's the woman who's drunk, somehow I don't think she'd consider it rape if the woman was sober and the dude wasted. Funny how that works.

This is straight up child abuse. And ironically(or perhaps intentionally?) they are creating the perfect conditions for this boy to grow up to hate women... I feel so bad for this kid, hopefully he can find some positive male influences in his life, but it sounds like the odds are slim.

Why do we even have to compare being falsely accused with being raped. Both are heinous and life destroying in their own ways. Rape can cause permanent trauma, so can false allegations(which can lead to being physically attacked as well as social/legal ramifications). Why do we have to make it a competition? We should believe accusations but also follow due process and a rigorous investigation. What we shouldn't do is convict in the court of public opinion and ruin reputations before any facts a…

My grandfather died of prostate cancer(undetected until it was too late, this was back in the mid 2000's), one of my uncles died of it about 3 years ago, my other uncle went through hell in chemo/radiation but is now doing well, and my dad had to have invasive surgery to remove his prostate, and he's still getting screened because he mysteriously has a positive PSA number when that shouldn't be possible while lacking a prostate. I'm going to start getting screened before I'm 40 because it's quit…

Gotta love how the one ending comment implies that you're an old pervert looking to manipulate women yourself(the one who says you're "telling on yourself here") fucking classic man. Do I think it's a bit weird that a 60 year old is with a 20 year old? Yeah, kinda. But ultimately it's adults making their own decisions here. It's the duality of feminism, women are simultaneously strong, independent and able to make their own decisions, and also weak and vulnerable and should be protected from tho…

Regarding Virginia Tech, while I think you have a bit of a point, that it's what set Seung-Hui-Cho off, he was also severely mentally ill at the time, he had a ton of other stuff going on, he wasn't just some dude-bro who got shot down at the local watering hole. It's a bit like saying men should be fearful that all prostitutes are liable to murder them because of Eileen Wuornos.

Men are far and away the majority of victims of most types of violent crime, pay gap has been debunked for years(not the result of discrimination, if it was acceptable to pay women less for same value work men wouldn't be employed at all), voting rights have been established for nearly a century now(despite no selective service requirement for women in the States). Bodily autonomy is a good point and I'd say most on this sub aren't happy about the recent overturning of Roe v Wade, but those righ…

I heard about a few lawsuits against some big name universities in the States that were brewing for discrimination in their admitting procedures, particularly against Asian men. Not sure about companies though.

Feminism has always claimed it's about allowing women to make choices about their own lives, but can't bring themselves to accept that some women may choose/think differently. "You're free to choose, but you'd better choose the things we think you should" it's always been like this. Ironically I'd consider it misogynistic to basically tell women if they have a different opinion it could only be because she wants attention from men.

That's the thing, modern feminism is rooted in post modernist thinking, and if you look at post modernist philosophy, they reject the concept of objective truth in favor of simply competing power structures/narratives. They literally don't believe in truth as you and I understand it. This makes arguing with them a headache and a half.

There are a LOT of problems with the offender registry, but it's one of those things where if you openly criticize it you're labelled a rape apologist/pedo sympathizer. There's guys on the registry for life for getting caught urinating in public while drunk AF on a night out(indecent exposure). The registry serves a purpose, but this case is a shining example of how fucked the system can be.

The character is reportedly based off Judit Polgar, who was a real woman player who was very good but never the top of elite level chess. They embellished the character quite a bit.

We as a society seem very unwilling to put women in jail/prison. Perhaps it's based on the perception that women aren't dangerous, and therefore don't need to be locked up like men, who are perceived as much more dangerous. Throw in the empathy gap and you get this I guess, still I thought mandatory minimums were untouchable(I'm actually critical of mandatory minimums because it removes judicial discretion, almost no case is truly black and white).

I agree that it's progress, but man is that sad, pretty sure dude wouldn't have received probation if it was the other way around(and he shouldn't, if it had been). Seems like a low bar, but we have to take what we can get I guess.

It's a joke older than I am, but my granddad and father always quipped that men die younger because we want to(because they're married). In all seriousness though men have had poorer health outcomes than women for centuries, it's partially physiological differences, partly lifestyle, and partly a disparity in healthcare services. Complex issue, but nobody sane can look at the numbers and think that women are getting the short end of the stick here.

Having worked a lot of shit and dangerous construction jobs in my 20's, while I respect the sentiment(that there's only a push for parity in elite, cushy positions) I don't think anybody wants a woman who doesn't want to be there/is out of her depth on a dangerous job site. You need serious physical endurance and nerves of steel to not be a danger to yourself and others in many of these jobs, forcing this would get women AND men hurt or killed. It's good to point out the glaring hypocrisy in gen…

Not sure how accurate it is, but I read a study that suggested that up to 15% of dads who think their kid's are biologically theirs actually aren't. Truth is nobody wants widespread paternity tests because of the unholy shitshow that it would uncover in literally millions of families. At the end of the day the govt just wants someone to pay so it's not on the government's dime. Dystopian? Oh yeah. Pragmatic, also yeah...

As a guy who worked construction grunt jobs for a lot of his 20's(and I'm a pretty strong guy) I found my body burnt out extremely quickly. The truth is even strong men can't work many of these jobs for long without physical consequences, so I don't really blame women for not wanting to put themselves through that stuff, I sure don't anymore. But yeah you need to have a thick skin, man or woman, working with blue-collar roughnecks lol. One of the best framers I ever worked with was a woman thoug…

Everyone should have that right... but everyone should have the right to due process as well. The accusation alone is enough to derail a career someone has sunk years into, name plastered in the media and fired/reprimanded by HR departments and university kangaroo courts before a single atom of evidence ever makes it into a court of law. In the notoriously cutthroat arenas of business and competitive academics, can you not see how it's obvious that this kind of attitude WILL be used maliciously …

I will say whether you can get a vas/tubal is highly dependent on your doctor, I'm 28M and unmarried and got denied for the exact reason you mentioned "what if your future wife wants kids?". I don't know what the stats are but plenty of men are getting denied on that basis too. I fully agree that it should be up to the person getting the procedure though, on both sides.

The "hygiene" argument is especially idiotic. I've owned a foreskin for almost 30 years and never had any kind of hygiene issue with it, it takes literally 5 seconds in the shower with soap and water to deal with it. Unless your some cretin who showers once a year or something I just see that as a complete non-issue, along with all the other things you mentioned being good points.

Yeah I do prefer this sub over MensRights, most of the sub isn't that bad(nowhere near as vitriolic as the hardcore feminist subs anyway) but there is a percentage there who obviously have a bone to pick with women and I find that unhelpful and toxic, this sub is better in that regard.

Just the fact that truck drivers are vast majority men would fck up the world in more like 2 weeks. Of course women can and do drive truck too, but if you poofed all the truck drivers delivering literally everything from food to gas to anything you can think of, major cities would be fucked in a matter of days not years.

Just the fact that you care is so important man, and while the courts may be stacked against you, you should try your best to fight, get as much time with her as you can. You do have rights even without being married. Kids are smart and once they get old enough they'll see that you tried hard and that will count for a lot, or at least it did in my own case.

If it helps I'm a child of divorce, only got to see my dad the bog standard 2 weekends/month, but once I got older we reconnected in a big way, have a pretty great relationship now, don't give up hope brother.

Didn't mean to bring you down man, like I said I don't know the law for CO, you should at least talk to an attorney. You sound like a great dad.
/r/MensRights27/06/22 06:18 PM

I'd advise you to talk to an attorney, but while I don't know how the law works in CO(I'm from Canada) up here the odds of getting full custody would be VERY low, most dads are lucky to get 2 weekends/month around here. If you can prove you're the more engaged parent by far you might have a shot, but I've only personally seen dads get full custody in severe neglect/abuse cases.

I was born in 1993, and my Dad had to fight hard against doctors and my mum/grandma for them not to snip me and my brother. If I ever have a son, you bet your ass they'll have to go through me to take a knife to him for no legitimate medical reason.

One thing I notice is that OP's feelings literally don't matter to that trash sub, he's the AH because he made his GF feel awkward when SHE hurt his feelings. In fact many of the top comments double down and denigrate him for his "fragile male ego" as though a similar comment upsetting a GF wouldn't be castigated in the exact same breath. Honestly only bother with that sub if you want to piss yourself off before breakfast, they are so biased it ain't even funny, and supposedly many of them are w…

I think MeToo was a good thing, something that needed to happen and was long overdue, especially in Hollywood with the whole Weinstein debacle. However you can't deny that it has resulted in a bit of a social/cultural shift to where many men aren't sure where the lines are anymore. And especially in certain business settings, many men don't want to have 1 to 1 meetings/work lunches with women anymore as they fear that a single accusation could lead to firing/derailing of a career they've sunk ye…
