Yeah, that's a nice thing to do for women. Let them into a course that will then require them to pick up the same mathematics knowledge on the fly. That definitely won't make it way the fuck harder. For fuck's sake this shit does not work when you do it at the university level. Start earlier or don't bother. How is that hard for them to grasp?

OK, you've got something here, but what is the mechanism that leads to better economic outcomes? The original question was about 'toxic Whiteness'. And my overall point is that it's not about Toxic Whiteness, when there are so many other factors. And the difference between African immigrants and Black Americans is evidence that skin color, or 'toxic whiteness' is not the principle issue. You still don't seem to get this. There are too many difference between african immigrants and black american…

By comparing incomparable populations. Either he's dumb enough to think that's valid, or he thought I was too dumb to notice it. And now who can't follow an argument?

Apologies on that last part. It's the internet, never know what kind of animal you're dealing with. But if I'm going to assume you're not a racist, please do me the courtesy of not assuming I'm an idiot. Comparing immigrants to a native population is ridiculous. One is a self selected group, the other is not. Come on now. And yes race would be luck. Any factor the subject cannot control is luck. Which contributes far more than most people who have been successful tend to admit. Mostly due to ant…

economically outperforms Your implication that this is a measure of personal capability alone is patently absurd. Success can come from any number of factors, with luck probably being the most essential of them. People starting in the shit tend to stay there for instance. Which is why you could use the same metric to compare poor and rich populations across race lines and conclude poor people to be inferior. Which is bullshit.

Bullshit. You're honestly claiming this couldn't be edited down? As for coherency, if it hadn't been removed I'd grab some of the text to dispute that. Since it has been (coincidentally) I guess we'll have to agree to disagree since there's no longer any proof either way.

I have shitloads of arguments against him, just none for addressing literally everything he's ever said except for that he waffles a lot to disguise the generic nature of some of his opinions and the thin evidence for things he tries to pretend have academic consensus. Hearing him talk about hierarchy for instance is just fucking embarrassing for anyone who has even basic neuroscientific education. Which is why he only talks about it to undergrads and laypeople. Peterson has a lot of media prese…

Quite a lot, though the best example of him disguising stupid opinions with academic speech is him talking about religion. Break it down and it's about the same level of vague feel good pap that you'll get out of most apologists, but people eat it up because he takes ten minutes to convey a simple point. A lot of his opinions I do agree with, but then I agree with Milo on a few things and I'd still call him an ignorant twat. Same principle here.

It's fucking absurd as a solution to the groping problems some countries have. Nothing but a bandaid solution to avoid actually having to deal with the societal scale problems that result in this shit. Problems that obviously fuck women over with the sexual assault, but also fuck men over to a lesser but still objectionable extent by indoctrinating them into the notion that they're animals who can't fucking help themselves and must be separated like dogs in heat. Hell to the yes. The amount that this gender whatever the fuck movement is shitting on actual trans people is just extraordinary. It's hard to believe. Then they try to act like the virtuous victims. Police will actively fight that kind of data being gathered though. The problem with organisations like the police is that the scum fucks have a whole lot of good decent people to hide behind. People whose occupation forces them to hold loyalty for the scum fucks they share a badge with. Police reform will not happen until the protection afforded to police by the law is reduced.

Yeah, the Scottish social services have a shocking bias towards mothers. Personal story. My mother was violently insane. An alcoholic and a borderline sociopath. I won't get into details but suffice to say she nearly killed me several times and inflected damage that has yet to fade completely even now, half a decade after her death. My mother was able to seek full custody for two years despite having been committed to a mental hospital and all her grown children agreeing she was violently insane. Only reason she lost was that she drank herself to death. So yes, I'd say it's biased on our side of the pond too.

This shit needs to stop. Once upon a time it made sense to ensure that divorce couldn't be made impossible due to one party not being able to support themselves. Once. Nowadays there is almost never a good fucking reason for this. Why the fuck are we still doing it.

No, but the UK has definitely being drifting right since New Labour lost power. It's all well and good to be left wing and Leave, however the core of the Leave campaign was absolutely right wing. As to your second paragraph, all I can say is that the media and politicians have a lot to answer for regarding ignorance of the EU. Almost none of that paragraph is even slightly true.

I think the terms become important here. Treating people equally doesn't mean treating them the same. Girls and boys should have equal dedication and effort put towards their learning. They should not have the exact same treatment in their education, not least because this reinforces the idea that individuals should have the exact same education. Which is absurd.
/r/MensRights12/04/13 11:17 PM
4

I'm not saying we aren't equal. I was pretty clear about that. The point is that equal does not and should not be taken to mean same. Meaning that people should be treated as such regardless of their differences. Given that you seem to agree with this and given that I was already clear enough...I'm not really sure why you're disagreeing with me.
/r/MensRights12/04/13 07:06 PM
7

I think he means that equal doesn't mean the same. It is true that our muscle strength is distributed differently, our brains favour development in slightly different areas and so on. Though it is also true that these things only apply to averages. On the individual basis it's all completely up in the air.

...Are you honestly arguing both these things at the same time? I mean you do grasp that you just argued against yourself? I know this is the conclusion evidence gives us, it is also the one that supports a) Not hating people for their actions and b) Reforming them by altering the aspects that determine behaviour.
/r/MensRights05/04/13 04:47 AM
2

It's not stupid. My point is that you're not arguing in favour of that. At all. You're arguing in favour of petty revenge and then trying to write it off as morality. If you are going to have a justice system you need to decide if you care more about victims or criminals. You also need to understand that the only sure way to keep someone from harming anyone else is to kill them. Especially since prison sentences end, people are released and re-offenders scale pretty nicely with how shitty your a…

That's nice. I mean modern scientific inquiry consistently disagrees with you but I'm sure your opinion still matters...ah wait, sorry I got that the wrong way round. The person is a consequence of various factors and little more. People can be fixed, you just have to do it properly.

So does killing them. It's also quicker and kinder. Also a Brit. That's a pretty big exaggeration. that situation was bad but you're being dishonest with that phrasing. Shock me? Hardly. Strike me as stupid? Certainly. There is no point. If that person is being written off then he might as well be killed. To put it better there are two, mutually exclusive, goals at hand here. We can aim for reform or we can aim to punish. The latter of those two is utterly pointless and based in outmoded emotion…

Self fulfilling prophecy much. You're saying that because it isn't perfect we should just ignore the logic and do something which is demonstrably worse. Also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bast%C3%B8y_Prison I would note that among the current inmates is a guy who killed several people with a chainsaw. Your point about society is not an insurmountable wall, just an obstacle to be overcome or otherwise dealt with.
/r/MensRights04/04/13 06:05 PM
6

Why? Disregarding gender there's no real point in indefinite prison sentences. If you refuse to believe people can change then you kill them and be done with it. Otherwise the only rational option is to try and reform them. Which means treating them like a human being rather than indulging in revenge fantasies. tl;dr what she did is horrific but it doesn't make it okay to be irrational.

It appears that you mainly want me to use a different word instead of feminism. While I like the reminder that sticking with Women's Rights gives, it seems a tad pedantic an objection in this context.

Honestly? I'd say because feminism used to be (and in some ways remains) a serious, gruelling struggle against a world that hates the very idea of your point. As such those fighting for it grabbed at every advantage they could find, used whatever tactics worked. Then things started getting better and fighting for feminism got easier. But switching to better tactics would have made things harder again and human nature is to seek easy paths. So the tactics didn't change on a wide scale and the rat…

I like the equality, but I still find it pretty fucked up that anyone is up for being drafted to start with. I can't see this as a win for MRM, more a loss for people in general. Women being deemed eligible is great though, another step towards equalising social views on violence and thus improving chances that those views get more sane.

MMA is the worst of it, beating the shit out of each other is not what anyone needs or wants. That spits on the purpose of martial arts even worse by pretending to be honest. My point is that modern martial arts ignores the weight of practicing and learning something that is designed to kill people, that has been used to kill people, and then turns it into a sport. I mean 'compettitive spirit'? What competition? The only way to prove you're a better martial artist would be to kill the other pers…

It's not a sport it's a method of killing someone or disabling them. I can't stand this viewpoint, it shows no respect for the nature of these things. It makes a game out of it. That was not what I meant by strength. In this scenario the most likely meaning would be either willpower (no difference) or overall ability to engage in physical violence. As far as the latter goes there is no real difference, societal mindsets aside, both sexs are perfectly capable of such. Hence I find the whole thing bafflingly insulting to women (being told they're weak), men (being told any strength they have is purely an aspect of their sex) and everyone (the implication that somehow ther…

Perhaps, but at that level absolutely anything can be called a men's rights issue. Making this a very unhelpful definition to use.
/r/MensRights18/01/13 07:55 PM

From what I'm seeing this isn't really a men's rights issue. The same underlying stuff can be seen but in this case I wouldn't say there's enough to make something of. Would this of gone differently for a man, most definitely. Am I upset that she's not getting harsher treatment, not in this case I ain't. I find this seems to be an attitude that occurs alongside successful marriages quite often. To put it better, from what I've seen, marriages that treat it as a relationship same as any other, rather then acting as though marriage changes the field in some mystical way, come across as being more successful. But then the idea of having separate rooms appeals to me so maybe my perspective is skewed XD P.S. As others have said, there's no need to apologise for being female. The only time that's an i…

Worm, Taylor and Brian. Immortal Rain, Machika and Rain. Kurohime, practically centres around this, if you can deal with some bad writing later in the plot. R+V MANGA not the Anime, Kind of, more just ignores gender a lot. Trudi Canavan's works often have something of this in them. Reign of Assassins, very much so. If the point of this movement is to truely seek eglatarianism then I almost think we should stop saying men or women do something and just go with the base statement of people do it. Not American either, but Britain has a system that is arguably worse in some ways. A person doesn't need to feel bad (though in most cases that would be a good thing) to not do the same terrible thing again. They just need to recognise that it was wrong and they should not do it again. The simplest way to ensure that someone doesn't hurt others once out of prison is to ensure that until they are rehabilitated they do not leave prison at all. As far as informing those around them of their crimes,…

I agree, redemption has to be earned. However forgiveness can and should be given outright and immediately, hating someone does nothing but eat away at a person. More pragmatically, this can be simlified to whether you care more about victims or criminals. Which is not a bad thing, women should also carry that responsibility. Taking a bullet for someone you care for shouldn't be viewed as anything to do with gender. That only cheapens it anyway. You act like the premise that men are more disposable is okay and should be maintained. That's sexist to literally everyone.

Firstly I think that if we cannot learn to live with this in a mature fashion then we are a pathetic species and will rightly die out from being irrational. Secondly, why does this have to continue to be the case for much longer? We're already starting to augment ourselves more and more and more. Sooner or later we'll be quite capable of eliminating these issues (as well as stuff like post-menopausal degeneration of the body) and creating physical inequality by lifting everyone upwards. Which br…

False rape really isn't as hard to figure out as all that. Do we need to take rape accusations more seriously? Yes. Oh but how is that fighting false rape? Am I just another feminazi apologist?!? No, because how seriously a rape accusation is taken has nothing to do with the issues that lead to false rape accusations. The issue is that rather then saying, we have an accusation let's pursue it seriously and see if this innocent person is guilty of something terrible. We actually get, we have an a…

I would say it's more the case that people object to it being spoken of like every single man is a risk. Certainly there are men (and women if in lesser numbers for physical assault) who are fucking dangerous and acknowledging that is hardly bigoted. Certainly not all of them and that's fine line there. If you do not have consent (a yes) and you do something sexual, that is a problem. If you go far then rape has occured. Good post, but the title is bullshit that implies spousal rape doesn't exist. Other then that, no objections from me. You're not making any sense at all at this point. So a person is always a rapist, but they can still be redeemed, even though their crime is eternal and should never be forgiven...I'm not seeing how these don't clash pretty hugely. As to exaggeration, I'm simply taking your points to the inevitable conclusion. If we cannot forgive for big things then why forgive small things?
/r/MensRights25/07/12 12:34 PM

What this can be condensed to is that you consider a criminal of a certain level to be irredeemable. Given that you are entirely against the evidence in this claim, why do you stop here? Why not go back to cutting off hands for stealing, after all that person has permanently taken away your time. You'll never get that back.

No guns removes one of the easiest methods of killing someone. Knives are hard to use and can easily go wrong. Bombs far more so. Poison requires knowledge. And what is more, bombs and poison and so forth are all things which carrying a gun will not protect you from. Demonstrating that if someone really wants to kill a lot of people in public, there's bugger all that can be done about it. You can only try to stop such people from ever coming into being.

So someone just needs to maintain fire (while being entirely unarmoured, caught by surprise and unable to see shit due to tear gas) on him until the damage accumulates. I assume in this model that the bullets he is using are made of magic metal which doesn't hit action heros?

Norway has already started doing this with hardened criminals and it actually works pretty well. Not punishing them sends no message though our flawed cultures would likely interpret one. However the issue here is that the only actual message is that the system in place cares more about victims then criminals and aims to help criminals themselves...which is the kind of thing that will reduce people becoming criminals. Obviously this alone isn't enough and changes across society are necessary to …

Which is exactly why guns to prevent crime are incredibly stupid. Adding more guns just results in Aurora, the killer realises that guns could be present and wears armour, or uses gas or otherwise disables this countermeasure. More guns is just escalation.

Read up on the issue. This was a pretty solid case from the get go. Just because there are a lot of false rape claims doesn't mean they all are. When someone is accused of something, it's simple logic to refrain from blaming them or telling others it was them and equally simple logic to treat the accusation as honest until it fails to substantiate itself. The former is an issue with false rape claims. The latter is sadly lacking in all claims, especially for males.

I agree with you...sort of. I don't much care about the legality...but I don't see any real gain in punishing them. Oh sure, it's satisfying. And unlike the satisfaction they undoubtedly got from their disgusting actions, this is the satisfaction of "justice". But they will get out, and they will be far worse for their time in prison. They will probably not have changed for the better. They may very likely do the same again or worse. But we laud punishment as a staple of victim's rights. The rig…

Okay, so if you rape someone you are now a rapist for life? In this case, why on earth do we let rapists out of prison? And considering the drain of a life sentence, the risk of escape and the suffering of that person (who by this premise we know can never be released) why do we not simply kill that rapist? And indeed, why do we not apply this to other crimes since a person is apparently eternally stuck in the worst that they have been. Why do we listen to all the science and learning that would…

You misunderstand my meaning, but then I was unclear. When I say it's wrong what I mean is that it achieves no real gain. It only makes it harder for them to return to society if they can change themselves, which in turn makes this less likely. Now we could say that this is fine because we want to punish people. Hey, revenge is fun after all. But if that is our goal then this is no where close to where punsihment should be. If our goal is to minimise victims and do all we can for every person we…

It's also no mystery that a lot of this is due to society shaping women much more delicately.
