You’re not the only one. I have the same feeling as a 27 M. The realization that my 20’s aren’t going to last forever and some day soon I’ll be in my 30’s and I feel the need to have something to show for it. I planned to make the most out of these last few years of my 20’s - time is precious.

Thanks, and I agree. I think I phrased that poorly. I get that attraction is completely subjective from person to person. For example people rating me as a 9/10 on PhotoFeeler and others rating me as 2/10. Yeah, I appreciate that insight. I’m starting to understand that more about women, particularly after breaking up with my ex of 6 years last year.

I care(d) just because I was excited to meet a new person and have a mutually good time, but that all ended in a strange and confusing way with her deleting the convo

And I don’t really care that much about my hair. It’s only self deprecating if you actually give a fuck.

A girl saying she is nervous about meeting you is a shit test? What would you say to that?

No, but if they express interest in you and initiate the conversation and pick out a coffee shop for you to try with her then all of a sudden cancel the date a few minutes before it happens, it’s puzzling.

This is helpful, thanks 🙏🏼

Thank you King. It was actually the opposite in this scenario though, like my best friend said I was out of the girl’s league this time (and I kind of agree with him). It sounds like cope but I genuinely think she was just too insecure/anxious to meet face-to-face. I just feel bad for her for feeling that way as I would’ve been more than happy just to have a good, chill conversation over good coffee and maybe make a friend (or more) out of the whole thing. But maybe she saw it differently.

Thanks man. Reassuring to know I’m not the only one it happens to. OLD makes me feel like I’m taking crazy pills sometimes, I get attention from women in real life but OLD has me believing I’m 2/10 sometimes. Your comment gives me hope to keep up the grind though.

Thanks, it does make me feel better. Just stings as I was being open minded and thought there might be a connection there.

Thank you brother, that makes me feel better, and I’m sorry that happened to you. In strength 💪🏼

Man that is so reassuring. Thank you King. 👑 Yeah what’s puzzling is that this girl was really average, I was just trying to be open minded and give her a shot as my friends encouraged me to do so. I was nothing but cordial and respectful over text too, nothing to suggest I was angry or inappropriate. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Real talk I am legit 3 points higher on the attractiveness scale than the girl who ghosted me. Thanks King. 👑 💪🏼

Thanks - no you’re right. I realized that. That’s why I went for the in person date so soon to see if we had chemistry in person. I deliberately kept texting short and sweet after we confirmed the date on Tuesday. I don’t try to have long winded conversations on the apps anymore.

Thanks for the tip man. I’m not gonna lie, I was a lot more attractive than the girl according to my friends but I was willing to at least give her a chance and show her a good time. Which is why it stings more lol

Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it. That’s a good suggestion, I’ll consider it as I’m just waiting till the 1 year mark at the moment to see what happens. If nothing then, then maybe I’ll reach out.

July 15. We had one, calm conversation 3 weeks after the breakup event where we debriefed a bit. She asked for no contact and I told her I was open to reconciling, but that I would be respecting her wish for no contact. I made it clear that if she wanted to reconcile, she would have to reach me first. We haven’t talked since.

Basically what OP described, I became needier over time (not less) and was demanding more and more of her attention as we got comfortable with each other. I got too comfortable basically. I also kind of just stopped putting in effort into trying to court her by taking her out on fancy dates, trying new activities with her, etc.

Sort of, I would be open to reconciliation. She hasn’t reached out after all these months of no contact. She also removed me from Instagram right after the breakup. I followed suit a few weeks later by removing her from Facebook, along with most of my family removing her. It was a very messy breakup, happening right after a big Miami cruise vacation with my whole family. But her not saying anything after all this time is a bit telling, I’m afraid.

Genuinely curious, what does your physique look like? Because I’m in Canada and this NEVER happens, also I have a decent physique for my age group.

Thanks for the reply, and thanks I guess. I mean I get likes but I’d say I’m not interested in 98% of them unfortunately. I feel for you, the apps really take a toll on your self image. They suck, I remember them being better a few years back (could actually have normal convos with normal girls) and a lot of people around me agree. I think it also depends on your city. For example, Bumble is dead in my area but a lot of people on here and other subreddits have success with it. In other places I …

Haven’t yet, thank you for the reply. I agree in-person approach is the best though, just have to work up the courage to actually do it lol. Girls in real life are much prettier too. And I love the way you put that, “illusion of choice,” it’s so true.

I mean I don’t have a ton of approach game in person either. I’m rusty coming out of my 6 year relationship. I just wanted to make the point that the apps are such a huge contrast to what actually happens in real life. You are absolutely right though king, I should double down on the IRL stuff

Thanks, this is solid advice. I find though that some girls also stop replying if you ask for a date too soon. Is this your experience the same? I love the way you phrase the question though, very chill/low stakes for the girl

Thank you, after wasting the last 3 months on the apps I’m quickly coming to this conclusion. Girls IRL are so much more genuine and attractive too. The apps inflate the average girl’s ego way too much. In the end they are still average, and demanding for way more than they realistically offer.
