Apps are dead. Pick all the apps and throw them to the Darvaza Crater. I'm not touching an app again. For the sake of your self-respect, choose other methods. Apps won't work.

Autism isn't a switch I can turn down. I need to analyse social situations in order to artificially learn how to swim in that unfamiliar water. I will try to get as much help as possible until I reach a good position. Basically nothing of what I could've said would've made them like me, but sometime in the future I will find someone who will like me and I won't need to rack my brains thinking what to say because it'll happen organically and I'll also make moves.

I literally don't like it, I'm autistic. I do it when I deem it necessary to please other people or if I want to get some information I deem useful. If not, it doesn't make sense for me. And yes, it tires me. This doesn't just apply to flirting, I'm referring to all inane conversation in general. I don't think I'm bad at doing small talk because years of masking have made me improve in it. I still dislike it. It's so inauthentic for me. I want to get straight to the point in whatever topic I'm t…

Long term relationships ending hurts a lot more. I know. At the same time, I don't know how much it hurts, but I can imagine that an amount of hurt I have never experienced. When I was a kid two of my grandparents died, that certainly hurt, though it didn't last much. Knowing that my parents had hidden from me the autism because they weren't sure about the diagnosis did hurt much more, for four weeks it was very intense, I had trouble focusing and was permanently sad. I’m from a different era, r…

Male sex drive being pretty much unstoppable I get what you mean because that's an extremely prevalent attitude among men, but I know men who aren't like that and aren't asexual. They're simply up to other stuff. When it comes to me, my sex drive is strong, but not "unstoppable". I'll wait as much as necessary so that I achieve my goal of a long term relationship. I won't rush sex, a relationship is more important. I don't think I'd accept a ONS because trusting so much a person I don't know wou…

I was at a first date with a girl and there was a guy next to us that was swiping on tinder while waiting for his friends and we could see his phone. He was swiping right on every profile without reading or even looking at them. 3 profiles per second for hundreds of profiles. Holy shit bro, that's dismaying. In Hinge take at least one minute per profile (a bit less for obvious noes, a bit more for cases when I'm not sure) and when I give a like, I always create a message for her which says more …

or else you would have a pretty good idea over time Hehehe not really, the point is that I know few individual cases so I don't know yet how to generalise. I'm not foreign born or anything, I simply don't know enough yet. Other then that women can typically attract men of all types. If she wants something serious long-term then she will be able to get men on her level for that. Hmm, yes, I would say that a woman with interests and values that aren't super rare is able to attract men of pretty mu…

Hmmm, I really don't know a lot about how women's attitudes are in general in Spain and how they compare to other countries. Respect is the baseline of normal social interactions, so merely respect doesn't say much, though I'm glad that nearly all (not all, though) people have been respectful towards me. When it comes to affinity, obvs people prefer those who they can relate with. Thus, if you're quite different from the average (worse in some domains, better in some), you've got some difficulti…

The post is worded in such way that I clearly understand it puts the ball on men's court to change because we're the ones giving too many options for women. And I agree with that premise. As a man, I do often think "given the scarcity of options available, why not?" instead of "this is not close to optimal, don't even try", but a coordinated move by men to be more selective would be good because it wouldn't punish the early adopters and reward the last guys who keep using indiscriminate strategi…

What I suggest for men is collectively becoming selective in who we seek. Isolated individuals being selective/less impatient in seeking the first expectation of opportunity won't break the overall trend, but I'm very sure that we must break that trend because it's bad both for us and for women. I think that being proactive and asking out is really good, but some of those instances are quite needless because they only stem from a strategy of "let's just flood the world with requests, which are e…

I am 41 and my gf is below 30. All my male friends who are 30+ have gfs that are below 30. Of COURSE this is at the detriment of relationship rates of younger men. Hehehe, then I can start blaming the people double my age. No, not really, the great majority of heterosexual marriages I know in person have a small age difference. Usually the man is slightly older than the woman, but only slightly (2 years is the mode). Of course, relationships aren't the same as marriage, but long term relationshi…

I've heard many other autistic people saying negative stuff about ABA and there must be some reason why they say it. I barely went to 1 year therapy when I was a kid (idk if it was ABA) because my parents didn't like that place very much, and I would say the experience was quite neutral for me. The weird thing is that I remembered that the place was about autism but I never mentally clicked that I went there because I'm autistic, and I genuinely believed I wasn't because my parents never told me…

90% of the time the skill issue is just plain old autism or developmental disorders. 😩 at least since 2024 I know that's the main factor why. Before that, my parents had been hiding it from me for many years thinking "since he barely passed the diagnosis test, maybe after all he can perfectly manage the situations without any more support than regular advice" and I couldn't help but think "what is wrong with me and my constant difficulties in things people usually find basic?". That really damag…

I get what you say, though, technicality, take into account that the natural gender ratio at birth is 105 boys for every 100 girls. This ratio gradually decreases over time until there are waaaay less than 100 old men for every 100 old women because at practically all ages, men die more often than women. The vast majority of this change happens during the old age, and most of the remainder in the late-mid age part. In short, in the dating world, the ratio is usually about 104 or 105 guys for eve…

Loool, the title is so absurd because it clashes very strongly with the evident reality. And of course, you choose a sample which is very far from being representative of the average population. That is so low effort, boooo.

You have Stimulants,Antipsychotics,Antidepressants and many other medications I disagree. You're 99.9 to 99.99 % likely not to be a psychiatrist. There's too much overmedication here in Spain, I once almost got an unnecsessary prescription of antidepressants, my doctor backtracked on that and later on the psychiatrist, who I only saw once, corroborated that her decision to backtrack was the correct one. Don't do "neurotypicalsplaining". Even still that's not a comfortable way to go about dating.…

Why not also for women? Since, through abortion, a woman is able to not have a child she doesn't want, why would she ever need "financial abortion"? If the reason is that some women simply don't want to abort even if they could, well, that's a choice. Men also make a choice when they trust their partners when they say they're on birth control, and they're rightly held responsible for any consequences stemming from it. There’s good odds he’ll even get to hang out with the kid when the kid is olde…

Understanding that things can go wrong and taking steps to mitigate is responsible I totally agree. Sex entails the possibility of parenthood, thus it's a great responsibility. A man who really doesn't want to have children yet should always use a condom and dispose of it after using it. A man who really doesn't want to have children at all should get a vasectomy. A man who doesn't want to have children yet and trusts their partner is taking birth control so they don't need any of the above, gre…

Yeah, thanks for pointing that one out. That's really unfair. Of course, that kind of turns against women because of the unreasonably strong expectations against them (not saying there are no unreasonable expectations against us) in regards to what they're wearing and their outward appearance. I say this because all the extremely berating snickering the right-wing boys in class used to do on girls' backs for absolutely anything related with their apperance when I was in high school (they still d…

Regarding abortion, the woman is the one having the pregnancy! It's her body. I'm not the one who is enduring that process in my body. I support women's right to abortion at choice until the baby can survive outside the womb (23 or 24 weeks; the Netherlands says that up to the 24th week). After that, only very exceptional cases. When it comes to consent to parenthood, I agree with only a bit of reservation. Let's imagine you're having casual sex, which is totally fine, good on you if you're both…

I didn't really read the really damn long law so I might be wrong. I just believed that and with strong certainty, that's why I added "I'm sure" to make sure my statement wasn't interpreted as "it is a fact that". I just said what I would do: record evidence of the crime, send it to the police and any other authority relevant to the case. If I did publish it on social media, I wouldn't reveal the criminal's identity. Edit: I'm researching it now, you piqued my curiosity. Ok, so indeed for public…

But sex has always been treated differently, we can’t ask people to make reasonable accommodations with their bodies. I agree. Sex is the one thing where ableism is fine. I disagree. Of course everybody has the right to have sex only when they really want to and refuse to do it when they don't, and the other person's mustn't say "you can't reject this". That's very obvious, I have defined my moral rules very well. Maybe I didn't make it clear, but of course that nobody is entitled to a relations…

more likely to be violent incels Indeed, correlation isn't causation. There can be other causes that lead to this proven outcome. Violence is certainly not an inherent quality of autism. If so, I would be violent and I'm a very peaceful person and when I get nervous, I only swear. I would say that the fact that neurotypical society is hostile for neurodivergent people (umbrella term for many conditions, I won't list them all) makes it much more likely for us to have poor mental health, and that …

i guess maybe its more possible if he is taking medication Bro, you know nothing about autism 😭. Unlike ADHD, there are no medications for autism. I thought people knew that, jeez. Of course there's therapy, there's following rituals that calm you down so that you're more in your prime for when it's needed, etc., but if you say "medication" you instantly prove you're talking about this topic with little prior knowledge. Of course, reduced social skills and rigidity make it more difficult for an …

These people don’t need a girlfriend, they need a mental institution. I'm really sorry about how your relative is, but don't establish an essentialism against all autistic people, if that's what you meant there. You're giving off a VERY STRONG ableist stench, not literally Aktion T4, but still distressing to read. I have enough with constantly hearing people use "autistic" as an insult instead of an actual descriptive word (that's very commonly done in Spanish, which is my language) and people h…

Wait a moment, I don't know what the legislation of your country is, but in mine, I'm sure it's illegal to post a video of someone being naked in public where they can be identified. They'd have to have their identity censored (and, due to social media's terms of service, the key spots of their nakedness). The uncensored video is for the authorities that are authorised to handle personal data (such as x person having committed x crime).

But maybe he was dishonest about his intentions. Of course, when it's a kind of guy you'd expect to behave like that, I do agree with that (don't feel disappointed when realistic expectations would lead to the conclusion that he's obviously been looking for just sex), but for a general case of any man who does what she didn't expect, not necessarily.

As I understand it, the male initiative gender role entails that men get more exposed to direct rejection. Unrequited feelings, I guess that can happen for both equally, but rejection, you can only be rejected if you try. Trying is good, I think that generally speaking you should give it a shot and be with the expectation that rejection is a possibility. I've never talked to a woman about her experience with rejection, I'd love to know more about that. The closest I know is that when my mother w…

Isn't Hinge supposed to be for long term relationships, though? I installed it because of that, and most profiles I'm shown (women and NB) say they want a long term relationship. Then what's so hard about finding committed people? Are most men in Hinge lying and they actually just want to have casual sex? I'm sure that among the likes they receive they can find people to date who are actually genuinely nice. Sure, it'll take some effort to elucidate, but it's better than having zero likes and sp…

Yep, I've been two weeks on Hinge and I've liked maybe like 1/5 of the profiles I've seen. I got one match the very first day, but she only said one syllable words or otherwise extremely short replies very sparingly and I eventually had to unmatch because that was no conversation. Since then, no likes. Really weird, I really don't like dating apps and I only installed it because currently it's my only option.

If a man is horny he will act on it My priority for a relationship is higher than the urge to fuck as soon as possible. I can wait as much as necessary for getting a nice relationship, for the time being masturbation will have to fill up as much as possible the gap between desire and reality.

respect, kindness Of course, that must be a baseline for everyone except those who show no respect. being treated like a queen I mean, sure, that's kind of inherent to a relationship as I view it and I'd very gladly do it once I'm in one, but that comes when the person you're dating starts to think that it's a good idea to commit that effort because they may be on to a real nice relationship. Other than respect and kindness, I can't really treat like a queen a person I still don't know much. Sor…

I can't really give my first hand opinion because I've never had sex or even kissed someone, but I'd argue that if they enjoyed sex but for some reason those two people don't want to form a long term/committed relationship (for whatever reason), then good for them because they've enjoyed. Of course, I don't understand why people would want to fuck many different persons instead of wanting to eventually find a good match and have great sex during their relationship, but if all the people involved…

Just like many women here, men can just masturbate and a lot of times that's about the same in terms of physical pleasure. Nah, come on, that cannot be true. I'm sure that all the kissing and caressing and overall contact and sensations is muuuch better than jerking off. Due to years of experience, I've become good at masturbation, but I can't help but find it boooooooooring, even with porn to aid the process. Don't get me wrong, it's still a lot of pleasure, hence why I still masturbate, but it…

I'm also very horny and I'm not against casual sex, but I don't feel attracted to the idea of casual sex. I'd accept it in most cases, undoubtedly, but I wouldn't actively seek it. I'm much more oriented to finding a damn good relationship. Yes, after the initial period of getting to know each other and building trust, an important part of that relationship would be sex, but the relationship would be more important than just the sex.

All you have to do is take initiative. Ok, I do, but still. Besides, the male initiative gender role is harmful for both men and women, just see the feedback loop it creates in dating apps.

Yep, yep, yep. I'm happy to have pushed back against the fitness craze. I do think I'd need to be fitter because I spend way too much time doing "intellectual stuff" (I'm just super interested, lol), but that fitness wouldn't be boring repetitions, but rather spending one morning during a bicycle route or doing some hiking. Even just long walking and talking is fine, I've done loooots of that with my grandpa since the start of the pandemic.

men don’t dislike women who are autistic , shy, introverted, etc . When I was in high school, the misogynist semi-friend group where I was (I wasn't good at making friends back then, they were still better than having no friends in the same school) constantly lambasted shy girls when we met. One of their hobbies whenever we met was talking shit about girls for whatever reason and even once mocking me for liking a shy girl (they pressured me a lot into telling them who I had a crush on). I do think a very high proportion of young men (I can't speak for older guys because I'm only 20, but anecdotally I'd agree for people my age) look for hookups and I get the impression that maaany are disrespectful, though idk much about that since most of my friends aren't interested in dating or already have a partner. What's true is that I've seen comments by women on Reddit that highlight that lack of respect, I know one former friend who has that attitude and also is far right. Still, women…
