2	How many downvotes this will get me?! Obviously the problem now is the gynocentrism of the law. Remove child support, splitting assets, custody of children to the mom by default, and alimony, THEN marriage makes sense, at least to me. I couldn't agree more. My circumstances were pretty unique - we wouldn't have been able to stay together without getting married - and I don't recommend marriage normally. I see the nightmares happen all the time - my brother-in-law, father-in-law, and many other friends all went through hell thanks to greedy, evil women who knew how to leverage kids and the legal system. We've been married a long time now and are very happy, but if something ever happened and it ended I wouldn't do it again. You can have a good, strong, loving relationship without marriage.
