Mens rights and overall social issues in our day and age interest me. I like reading about it, and in some cases reading about the other side of issues that most people only get one side of, like in celebrity rape accusations. I don't always agree with some of the content in this sub but I think it's a good view of social rights for men. Also I made the mistake at looking at the bottom comments. No, I don't want to gain from traditional gender roles. Yes, I actually am interested in men's rights…

Yea. Honestly the beginning of it made me question his credibility and give up on the article. Maybe I'll go back to read the part on false accusations.

I actually read a neat article about this today. http://freethoughtblogs.com/hetpat/2014/01/31/a-history-of-ad-hominem-gender-shaming/ It's happens in many arguments/debates. This idea that if you insult someone's personal life you can win the argument. I guess it could also stem from the idea of 'you must be a virgin because you obviously have no contact with women if you think/act that way' which, still, demeans male female contact by making sex the pinnacle of it. Or it can go along with the …

Wonderful article and I really agree with his two issues against griffin's argument. Their is no reason to use people's personal lives/experiences to invalidate their stance on any subject, and doing so will only open a can of worms of shallow debates more about dirt on a person than about the actual subject. The second point was something I really found interesting. The insinuated idea, according to griffin, that their personal afflictions, being gay, being hen pecked, being a bachelor, are inh…

I'm suscried to this subreddit because I'm very interested in men's rights but this posts like this that push me away from it. I see a lot of content up voted that isn't even men's rights, it's just the taking away of women's rights, or the disqualifying of women. I stick around, however, because there is still a good amount of content that is very pertinent to rights for men and boys.

Well, that's all I could say. We are getting no where. I'm not even sure why were arguing anymore. I tried to show you that I, as a feminist am not for female supremacy, but gender equality, and you just made it very clear that is not your goal. Your goal is make supremacy in any means needed. I cannot support that, because supremacy of any group over others will hurt, have, in the past, hurt us so much as a race. To this moment I want you to know that I never insulted you, assumed anything less…

Oh boy. Okay, my dear. The point I'm trying to get across is that we're looking for the same things. You just listed a big list of examples in which men are slighted in the court systems when it comes to children and families. You're right. I want to see real equality here as well. The last thing I want is to have any group, including women as a group, to be automatically right and win cases. I want decisions to be made on a case by case basis because its not about a woman and a man. It's about …

I'm aware that there are more people in the world than just me. There will always be a large array of experiences and no one idea will work for everyone, but from my experiences equal human rights and commen respect have changed the world for the better. Not just equal right for women but for people, all people, white men, black men, Asian women, Australian transgendered, ect. Everyone.i was giving my own personal experiences as an example, not as a rule. I'm not sure why you're so hostile towar…

But there haven't. There's no way to answer that without you jumping on me, but I have good relationships with people around me. Being equal to them, an them to me, hasn't hurt anyone.

That's ok. I'm on my phone so I understand. And there will always be those who suffer more than others. Some would argue that atheism is in fact backed by government offices, what with laws prohibiting certain Christian practices in public school and the what not. A lot of money goes into backing science that defrauds religious beliefs. And I'm drawing the parallel in the sense that they were both second class citizens denied rights. Perhaps a parallel between women and Hispanics? Women and gay …

There haven't been any damages. My relationships are healthy, and cooperative. I treat those in my life with respect and how i feel like I ought to be treated in return. As a result my little corner of the world, at least, is thriving without this idea of who is in charge of who.

I'm an atheist. But that doesn't mean I have any say over my father who constantly talks about the evils of religion and that anyone who believes in god is a fool. In that thought, I have no control about feminists as a whole, and if I wanted to have control, I'd have to start somewhere, and maybe that somewhere is here, convincing a group of guys that real feminism wants to stand beside them as partners, not overlords. But that would require cooperation to prove that feminism isn't what many (s…

I'm aware creating global equality is impossible, but in my life I strive for equality in most, if not all situations. I treat people like people, I treat the people in my life well, how I feel like we should treat people, regardless of gender/sex/race/ect. I treat my boyfriend as an equal. I feel like its comparable to the black civil rights movement. giving power to black people doesn't mean that you have to take it away to white people, just treat humans like what they are. human beings.

I'm sorry you feel that way. But thanks for not calling me a liar. I hope you encounter some better experiences with feminist who actually want equality and not dominance. Good luck.

I dunno, is there a better word for someone who believes strongly in gender equality? If you give me one I guess I'd be that, because I'm not either the type 1 or 2 you posted.

Unfortunately there's not much I could do. :/ it seems like there's this overwhelming force of "magnetos" screaming about how mutants have been the oppressed species for too long, and it's time to make the humans pay, when what we really need is a few more "professor x's" reminding everyone to calm their tits, it's really about equality, not getting back at the descendants of our oppressors, but working together. (I hope you forgive the metaphor.) I'm not trying to change everyone's mind, though…

I'm a feminist. A real feminist. I don't even know if anyone will read this amongst the 142 other comments out here but I want you to know thy not all feminist are like that. Not close. There are words for situations in which a woman feels uncomfortable in a sexual situation, an often it is because of a man taking advantage, and, also often, it's because women have been taught that they should feel uncomfortable, even if its something they actually wanted, leaving both her and the man innocent, …
