If you were singing while playing the guitar I assure you that you got better at that. That is to say, I am sure you played the guitar better while singing or perhaps sang better while playing the guitar. There is no way you got worse at it unless you were hurting yourself. If you wanted to improve just your singing, you should have practised that.

Congratulations on "graduating". While the sub does have a few bad apples, if I can get even ONE person to have that "A-HA!" moment, I still think it is a worthy cause. I do not worry about you MC, you are going to do great out there. All the best

I am pretty sure she did, but I do not have sex on the first date or one night stands. Any girl that desperate is not worth my time.

You should not worry so much about being polite all the time. Gauge yourself depending on the situation you are in.

enjoy it This here is key! If you are having a good time, almost everything else falls into place. As for the shit test, I can see how she might have thrown that out there as an excuse to leave if things turned south (We had not seen each other in quite some time after all), but I am a strong believer in leaving them wanting more by leaving first.

I'm going to have to disagree. While this may be useful from time to time, definitely don't overuse it. You should be more than comfortable with silences. Take a sip of your scotch, order another drink, etc. More than anything, you should also know when to walk away. You shouldn't be in a stalemate until the other person decides it is time to leave, have your fun, excuse yourself when you feel like it.

Hey wooboy, good post. I actually posted on this a few days ago ([Theory and Challenge] Why the perfect thing to say doesn't exist), but you hit on a few points that I missed on. I would really say that number 4 is one of the most overlooked aspects of good story telling. You want make good solid eye contact with people and emote as you tell your story. Look in a mirror, and practice the expressions you want to use for stories: Look of surprise, suspicious squint, etc. When you are telling a sto…

nycprowl kind of got the idea. First and foremost the reason why I don't suggest crossposting is because I find FB stupid. I really do. Haven't used it for quite some time and my "game" has improved for it. But I've seen some people say that it works for them, so I'm not judging. But the idea is you are doing this for you. Do you really want to leave a digital crumb trail that others can follow? Or do you want to be able to wow and surprised people. "We should go this place I found (No need to m…

Good, this is key. It's not about going out to a ton of places over one weekend and spending a ton of money. Just whenever you go out try a new place. Or if you are a regular somewhere, try something new there. Push your comfort zone, expand yourself as a person.

In your case the reason why this is something to look into is that you should NEVER use the words "I don't know, what do you want to do?". Unless you are saying it jokingly as you're unbuttoning/unlacing something the person you are talking to is wearing.

The stories are often told in the first person narrative form with some interjections by Ira Glass, and all tend to follow a theme per episode. So you also get to hear other people tell stories very well. Do you like the stories so far? Here's a third recommendation: Episode 188 "Kid Logic". Listen to it here. Download it here.

You know, I have never really looked into that. What I have done that did wonders for me however is go volunteer at my local public library and read to children. Kids are harsh critics, and if you can keep them entertained, you should have no problem with grownups. EDIT: Hell, date idea. Go read to kids with a girl you are interested in and own the situation. You probably won't be there very long, you can be as playful and ridiculous as you want, and most libraries are located in places with ple…

You're welcome. They have a list of what they call best of that is definitely worth checking out. But if you want to use it as a means of learning to be a better story teller, I would suggest to start from the beginning. If you listen carefully you can pick up on the changes Ira goes through as he becomes a better story teller himself. If you want another episode recommendation, take a look at: Episode 399 “Contents Unknown”. Listen to it here. Download it here.

Thanks TofuTofu. I am a big fan of your FRs and David Wygant. I think more than anything the goal of this community is to improve ourselves as people, not learn an act that falls apart once you actually find someone you want to have a relationship with. I will definitely be contributing as much as I can to this community.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
