But we're talking about people playing a female character in a video game here. This has nothing to do with "rights" or "responsibilities" or inequality in how genders are treated in society. It's about a video game where you shoot other players, and it's about DICE trying to make it appealing to more people to make more money.

That wasn't part of my post because it didn't matter. It has nothing to do with the point I was making. The point is that it's stupid to make an issue of making a female character model playable in a battlefield game. The fact that men were conscripted and women were not has nothing to do with that point.

then maybe the game centering on women with bionic arms being historically accurate is a distorting the truth. Yes, i'm sure we're going to have generations of kids growing up thinking that WW2 was fought mostly by women, all because you can play as a woman in a battlefield game.

If you were one of the players from the early days, you'd know that the bulk of all their games was grounded in history. I'm a huge battlefield fan and I've played literally every battlefield game ever. I'm super excited for the new battle royale game they are developing. As far as "historical accuracy" goes, in Battlefield 1942 they mostly used weapons from that time frame, and they created maps based on real battles that took place, but beyond that there was not much historical accuracy. My question is, what fraction of these women were KILLED in combat? What does that matter? No one is contesting that pretty much all wars ever were fought mostly by men. But when someone says that there were no women combatants in WW2 then they are just plain wrong, and that was part of my point.
