I don't believe it's the government's job to handle any sort of inequity on a social level. The governments involvement in social issues should end at legal protection.

My husband and I feel this way. We make ~100k in a hcol. Our kids will have a middle class lifestyle, but we don't see the point waiting until we hit this arbitrary income target
