So, update. Been divorced two months now. Best decision of my life. Stress levels are at zero, I’ve naturally become more fit, I’m meeting healthy people, and my kids (who were doing awesome before) are thriving emotionally. Just saying, if someone is on the fence, and you have tried everything to work it out, there is light on the other side. Life is short, no need to stay miserable for most of it.

It depends on your state, I live in Oklahoma, and infidelity can be used as grounds for divorce, he needs to check his state laws

Dude, she prolly gave it to you bro, sounds like blame shifting to me. I’d really analyze her actions during this process. Also, if you are not taking notes about stuff like this, then you should start.

Brother, if she’s telling you this now, it probably will never change while you remain in the situation. I am going through a divorce at 19 years, (44 y/o) was in the same sort of situation. She never blatantly said she didn’t love me, but I could tell in her actions, and the way she would touch me, I could feel that love wasn’t there…so after a lot of soul searching, I decided to ask for a divorce. We are very amicable, and are actually getting along way better now, actually acting more like pa…

I’m sorry you are going through this buddy. I have been in the same boat with my wife for years. And holding on to hard is why I think it came to the point that we are both ready to go our separate ways… same as you guys, we trauma bonded a lot, was in the army 20 years, was gone 55 months over the course of 10 years of that time, left her to raise the kids alone during that time. Then there were a lot of deaths and illnesses in both families, most significantly, the death of my oldest son ( fro…

I let my son name him, he’s a 2 year old Australian Shepard named Luke skywalker lol but just Luke to me haha..first night he didn’t even use the bathroom in the house held it all night, it was storming and he guarded the door to my room and would patrol the house Everytime he heard thunder, like all night, jumped up with me when it was over… More than most humans would do lol

I appreciate that. And I have actually had a lot of the same thoughts. I’m just jaded because everyone I retired with is going through the same thing 😂 I went and got a dog yesterday, lol think that’s good enough for me for now..in no hurry at all for a date…but life is life, and things happen, but really in no hurry at all..

Dude, this is narcissistic behavior. My soon to be ex- wife did this all the time. Ours was about house work though, I worked like 13 hours most days in the Army, and she sat home doing nothing, house was always shit, while she just got fat. She would tell folks that I did nothing, and it was my fault. I was a piece of shit etc. thing is I wasn’t even there most days, and then I’d have to clean on the weekends. Some people just need attention, and I wouldn’t let this bother you. Thing for you, s…

Oh yes Sir, I only retired because of her, I was a 1SG on the move up, should be a CSM right now, I’m glad I’ve had the time out for reflection, my mind is the most clear it has been. But shit, the things you don’t realize until you realize, like it was funny that I only had serious depression and needed meds when I was with her, like, I had 5 combat deployments and a Korea tour for a year during our marriage, and it’s funny that my mental health always improved when I was gone. It’s like, how c…

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that almost all women have at least slightly if not mostly narcissistic personalities. We decided to live separate but on our own property ( we have a small separate residence) for a while so we can work on ourselves, which was like 6 months ago. Well I started fully thriving, I lost all the depression weight I gained and am actually in better shape than I was my whole time in the army..I started sleeping better, and actually loving myself without her there..shit the only t…

I think I may luck out in the child support aspect, we both are high earners with an almost equal income, neither of us are looking to seek child support, however, I understand that every state is different, but I’m at least hoping that I don’t get fucked with a high amount.

My thoughts exactly, but honestly, both her parents and her sister are alone, (all 3 divorced living alone) and no one can stand to be around any of them for long, her dad was married like 8 times, and he passed away with no one there but them. I had quite a few good friends that have all dwindled away because she is just naturally miserable. I really feel like I dodged a bullet here because I’m still in pretty good shape for my age, and women in their 20s still try to pass me their number (I’m …

Well, we are actually being pretty amicable, and we are both pretty much done. We are living separately now, so we decided to hold off for 6 months to file so we can knock out debt and save a little money. We both make really decent money, so we really have no need to go after spousal support. And my oldest heads to college in Jan. Big thing is we have a 9 y/o together, but shit, they all know we can’t stand each other…as husband and wife anyway.

It’s been ongoing for years, I’ve been working on my mental health for the last few years, and finally two night sago, I told myself I wanted a divorce, and it was like a knot was instantly pulled from my stomach. Then I was more happy than jealous or angry at the thought of her finding someone else lol it’s like, I give no fucks.
