Definitely get disability insurance. Try to make sure that your policy accounts for gradually rising cost of living. Also I purchased a whole life insurance policy. It essentially functions as a retirement account. If I don’t die prematurely, I can start withdrawing at retirement age. How do you know your weight gain has been from fat rather than muscle? You might have gained muscle instead of fat and that could account for your weight gain. Reducing calories will generally (there are ways around it) cause you to lose both fat and muscle but if you keep lifting, it will minimize your muscle loss so that you’ll lose proportionally more fat.

But my practice is busier than the national average by a substantial amount. On the flip side the complexity is low so I don’t have a problem. The isolation is the biggest issue. I can go 6-7 hours without seeing or speaking to another person. And that time is spent in a dark room with only the monitor providing light

I spent my later child hood in small-town Georgia. I had several people ask me my religion. When I gave them a “I’m not into organized religion” answer, some of them tried to ask about my beliefs. The notion of spiritual beliefs being a private matter is an alien concept for some of them. I’m neither black nor white, so that may have had something to do with it. Anyway, I moved to Atlanta for college. People there are fine.

Soy in the USA is one of the most heavily subsidized crops (corn/maize is by far the most heavily subsidized). So making processed foods out of soy is really “cheap” since soy is “cheap”. As for soy causing feminization, there are plenty of female hormones in dairy products in the USA. It’s not the soy. Just look at Patrick baboumian. He gets his protein from greens and soy. I tell them that I “work in X-ray”. I’m actually a radiologist (doctor that interprets x-rays and other imaging). So I don’t lie but I didn’t disclose my status. And a job as an x-ray technician is still respectable and comfortable.

Start by planting and maintaining a small garden and learning to preserve your food - either by canning or buying a large freezer (trips to grocery store limited to meat, dairy, grains if you still consume those).
