I've been in the exact same situation. I believe it's right to be honest with the other person and not waste her time or give her high hopes. She'll be hurt even more later on. If you're afraid of crushing her feelings, you can cut her off in a smart way. Make it seem like she's the one that doesn't want you anymore.

Thanks for this. Recently I've been frustrated about not being able to approach girls and my low self esteem etc. But I'll use what you've said to the fullest.
