I know how you would think it but I think I could pull it off with anyone. They think it's cute and it works. What else do you want me to say?

I know what you're saying but there are a whole bunch of factors that I can't really describe. I'm not playing mind games, all the things I mentioned just happened naturally the first time and I replicated it the two other times. I think the I set is what made it all work. I'm a nice guy and they know it, so paying for me wasn't a big deal at all. Then when I ask them if I can make it up to them they think its cute/nice and I take them out. They don't seem to have low self-esteem from what I've …

That's a totally legit point. I mentioned two things that kind of make this OK in my mind. Don't make it a big deal Keep it to 5$ or less This way she likely won't care if she pays for you, but it's enough to wonder if you'll really pay her back. When you finally offer to pay her back+more (dinner) she'll likely be happy and accept. Also, I said that this would work better with someone you are already friendly with. You could probably simply ask her out without doing any of this, but I think it'…

Yeah I said it would work better with someone you are already friendly with just because if it's someone you just met, it's easier for her to think you're a chump for not being able to pay. If she knows you, she's likely to know you're good for it and wouldn't mind paying. The reason I don't ask her on the first date right away is that I want her to think I lied about paying her back. She'll likely be thinking about me more because I haven't brought up paying her back until I finally ask her out…

It should work if you play it right. You have to make sure that by the time it's time to pay, she's in to you. Demonstrate your value and she'll be glad to pay the measly 5 bucks. Then you swoop in and ask her out within the next couple of days because you "owe her one".

At first I thought it did, but it all depends on how you approach that one moment. When I do it, I pass it off as if it's nothing. And prior to this, I secure my value in our conversation, so she know's I'm good for it and not just trying to get a free coffee. By this point she should be comfortable enough to almost want to pay for your coffee because of the positive experience you two just shared.

They stayed put. If I were him (assuming he wanted to push things further) I would have suggested a venue change. Possibly moved to a bar or something and chatted her up in that environment, doing some kino 'n shit. THEN bring her back to the car (or her place/your place). Its hard to change the mood in the car from talking to something more, so changing the environment is a good choice.

Yeah but you were probably out with them for lunch or coffee or on a stroll. I've done that too. But if you're chilling in a car in the work parking lot for 2 hours, you're proving to her that, first, you have too much free time to waste, and second, you have no idea what the fuck you're doing. Someone who did know what they were doing would have suggested to continue the talk somewhere else and to go to a more convenient locations. Even if it was just to be friends.

Yeah thats... possible. Edit: Also in this situation, the sarcasm doesn't even apply. There's no way the guy sat in the car for two hours with the intention of being friends. This man bitched out....

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
