I suppose so. In the research I've done, school are either super-parties every night, too hard to get into, or the ultra-conservative kind that keep serious tabs and are a little too strict for my preferences. I guess my only option would be to go to a school that has minimal partying and stick to my kind of people. I guess the volunteering is a given, but do intramural sports in general attract all sorts of people? I don't mind having some people I don't agree with as long as there's a good bal…

Oh, that is just so cute! I hope I have the chance to do something like that in college. I've checked the student organizations at the places I want to go to, and since I'm looking into engineering and science schools there's less feminine activities. That's some pretty solid advice about the campus living. I guess it would depend for me where I go, but it's always been part of my plan to look into off-campus housing. Definitely not interested in commuting long distances in a snowy city :( but I…

I love success stories <3 Just wondering, did you join some clubs to meet others and what kind? Or did you just do volunteering? I'm looking at colleges now and trying to avoid all the party schools if I can help it, and want to find friends with my interests so I don't get sucked into the party scene.

Nice insight. Something that helps me be a nicer person to not only my SO is picturing a scenario like this. Do you want to be known to his friends as the "annoying, controlling girlfriend"? Eventually he will tell his friends about his relationship problems, and this is how they will picture you. It reflects badly on not only you as a girlfriend, but him as well. (Of course, the main reason you should do this is to comfort your SO, and not for a good reputation).

Wow. That's great commitment, to have a job and be at the home! Sorry, I only ask because I'm looking into college soon, and a lot of people in my area encourage huge, high-paying white collar careers first and putting off having a family until later (including my mom). But I hope in the future, I can find a balance like yours when it comes to managing a job and tending to the home, and find a field of work I really enjoy.

Congratulations! You seem much happier than before. If I may ask, what career did you intend to go into, and what did you end up working as?

I hated PE sports too! I was good at some of them, but when I got to junior high I stopped giving effort because I didn't want to get all sweaty in the middle of school, and partially because we would play the same sports over and over again (volleyball and badminton). I know a few high schools let students drop PE for a semester if they played sports that semester, which is better because you can get the exercise you need, and it encourages team sports which looks good for college and gets you …

Wow, this is really interesting! Really enjoyed the one "I'm Sorry with Benefits". Sometimes my first reaction is to get angry like that, but taking a step back for a few minutes and re-evaluating the situation is really the right thing to do and can often avoid getting into a huge disagreement. Thanks for posting this.

Me and my boyfriend are still young (16) so um, the new Call of Duty game. Can't go wrong with that! I'm also sewing him a plush cactus from felt. (I call him a cactus as a term of affection, so it's kind of an inside joke.) It's my 2nd sewing project, and it's coming out okay for a beginner, so I'm pretty happy. But I lost my sewing machine so I had to do everything by hand :(

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm in high school right now and this generation is strong on new-wave feminism. I try to introduce advice to them by posing it in a way that doesn't sound like I'm totally telling them to abandon their beliefs- like if I were to tell someone to try to take up cooking for their boyfriend, and they claim its sexist, I explain to them that cooking is something SO's do for each other because they love each other, and just because you make a meal for them doesn't mean you…

This was posted in this sub before, but I found it interesting and helpful. It's an old video made by a broadcasting company in the 50's I think? I kind of forgot, but I got a lot out of it and its a good place for starters. Sorry I'm on mobile, but here's the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvFF9NlRlxQ&app=desktop

Aw. Your friend must be lucky to have someone like you in her life! Sometimes it's hard to see things from the other's perspective by ourselves, and bystanders really see how things really work. You did a good job mediating, showing her the truth about how relationships are going to be rather than telling her "Oh you don't need him". Those few words may have completely saved their familial life.

Thank you! If you started a little later in life and still made it, I know I can too! :)

Thank you for understanding! Spot on with how I feel about being unsure about my life path. Even if I'm not ready to be married or experience a real relationship at my age, it's still good practice for when I actually am ready- whether me and my current boyfriend do end up as high school sweethearts or not. And good luck with you and your husband! You two must love each other very much.

Hi, lurker here! I'm actually not as old as some of you, I'm still in high school and I'm 16! (Don't judge!) I don't really post, but I like to look around this sub for ideas and advice on the kind of woman I want to grow up to be and how to treat my boyfriend (though we're young and probably have a less mature relationship than most of you, I think it's still important to have good relationships at any age!). My mom is a strong feminist and while I love her and respect a lot of her decisions, s…
