The best way to do it is not care either way. Don't lose your cool. Just act natural and if you pass you pass, and if you fail you fail. If she ends up leaving then #YOLO. Only way to keep your sanity.

Clinical trial operations type stuff. Basically managing the trial set-up, execution, and compliance but from far away. Like I don't have any direct contact with the patients and doctors anymore.

Sounds like you're in school. Eventually you will move on to something else and you'll never see them again. Find some guy friends that you share interests with. I'm guessing you're a pretty shy/anxious guy, but put yourself out there and you will find a group that you can click with right away and it will feel natural. I've been thinking of doing that, at least since to succeed here in the Bay Area long term I feel like I need a side gig. Just haven't thought of anything I could make work. I work in clinical trial/pharma btw. It's a very female-heavy industry.
