Trial and error my friend, you will get shot down and turned down a lot and each time you learn a bit more of how to adjust your approach. It's partially mastering your craft and being open and honest with yourself on how you go about your approach, sooner or later they will find out if you aren't and that can be a very dark hole.

The biggest thing I will say is don't play to people's tunes, you will seem like a suck up and a follower and both will hurt you short term and long term. To be completely honest with you, being worried about being a virgin will be your downfall. The more emphasis you put on it will definitely be sensed by any gal and can/will be taken as a sign of desperation (which whether you know it or not really is).
