I'm so sick of people trying to justify misandry with misogyny. If people weren't constantly acting in such bad faith about the existence of misandry, the obvious conclusion should be that, because misogyny is bad, misandry is also bad and that two wrongs don't make a right. There are easily thousands of stories written and told about that one morale alone. But no, instead, misogyny is used to endlessly excuse raging misandrists, because clearly the solution to hateful assholes is adding even mo…

An interesting result from this study is that while the majority of Masculinists believe women are disadvantaged in some ways in society, the majority of Feminists do not believe that men are disadvantaged in some ways. With 29.2% being Masculinists, 60.3% being Feminists, and ~20% being both, that means ~68% of Masculinists are considered Feminists, while only ~33% of Feminists are considered Masculinists by the study's definition.

I'm really sorry you had to go through that. 🫂 You are not wrong for being upset and feeling alienated by your friends' misandry, that is a completely natural reaction to bigotry. Almost any human being would be hurt by bigotry directed at them, and it doesn't make you a weak person or emotionally immature for feeling/being hurt by misandry. There is no excuse for misandry, especially nowadays when people really should be more aware of men's issues by now. Some people here are criticizing you fo…

Don't you know that women actually have zero agency and only ever do bad things because something else made them do it? Unlike men who are 100% malicious and do bad things purely because they are innately evil beings.

I get that sentiment, but unless they take responsibility/accountability for their bigotry and let go of their misandric beliefs, I seriously doubt we'll ever be able to work together. Many MRAs and male advocates have tried to work with feminists or at least help educate them about male issues, but it often doesn't work out because so many of them are just unwilling to let go of their misandric beliefs, caring more about believing what they already want to believe. The few that can communicate …

And to make it even more accurate, literally everyone in this world is a mine (including yourself), with the only difference being how they look.

To be fair, I don't doubt that someone knows of a relationship with a taller woman and shorter man, since it clearly does still happen, just much less likely. The real problem I have with it is the use of anecdotal evidence as if that disproves a statistical trend. It's like arguing that Russian roulette is a perfectly safe game just because you weren't killed by it after the first shot (morbid example but you get the point).

It's just typical rationalization for their bigotry so that they can pretend that their bigotry is justified. Bigots of all kinds do this all the time, because if they admitted their bigotry wasn't rational, they wouldn't be bigots in first place. As such, they constantly make up excuses and reasons for why their bigotry is actually perfectly okay so they don't have to feel bad about being a bigot.

It's kinda insane how negatively people react to women proposing to men, as if the man personally killed their grandma or something. What's also insane is how many people are acting as if they know better than the proposing woman what is truly best for her. Like, go mind your own business and let her do what she wants, asshole; is it really that hard to imagine a woman willingly proposing to someone she truly loves out of her own free will?

Weird and disgusting as hell to use someone's break-up as an excuse for spewing your sexist beliefs.

Also it's a completely bullshit excuse. These misandrists almost never push their vitriol towards actually bad men, but towards men as a collective, including innocent men. It's why the idea of collective shaming itself is so insanely flawed, but that's a topic for another post I'm making.

One of my "favorite" parts about her unhinged rant is this part: I refuse to cite my sources. You may do your own reading and research, and you will respect that I am a woman who has 2 degrees that included extensive research into the history of radical feminism, and I won't be entertaining any mansplaining of radical feminism, nor will the mod team that is behind me. I'm sorry, but this section alone just shows that any attempt at reasoning with her was doomed from the start (as if it wasn't ob…

I'll never understand why people are so weirdly obsessed with treating women as these morally pure angels who never abuse or rape when the majority of evidence shows that women perpetrate about as often as men do.

Disguising bigotry behind "humor" is one of the oldest tricks in the book and has been used to dehumanize many groups, even if some people pretend that such jokes are totally harmless and definitely don't perpetuate many negative stereotypes and beliefs about the targeted group.

It's so sad that people pretend to care about victims so much yet treat male victims of all kinds of abuse so insanely poorly just because it'd mean having to acknowledge the existence of female abusers.

Framing misandry as a "defense" is similar rhetoric that is used to justify and excuse basically every other kind of bigotry. Whether it's nazis claiming jews control the world, racists claiming black people are inherently violent, or anti-immigrants claiming immigrants are taking all the jobs away, disguising bigotry under righteousness and justice does nothing but take away accountability from what is, at the end of the day, bigotry. Similarly, claiming misandry is "just a defense" takes away …

I wish people like OOP put even the smallest bit of effort into actually researching men's issues instead of immediately hopping in with the most braindead thought-terminating cliches possible, but I guess that's asking for too much because it'd mean having to actually challenge what they want to believe in. It gets so fucking annoying and boring having to hear the same handful of phrases designed solely to dismiss/downplay misandry that are obviously not true, but are still regurgitated all the…

Genuinely happy for you to move past your bigotry and improve as a person! Many are unwilling to do that due to a desire to protect their ego and stubbornly believe what they want to believe, even in the face of contradictory evidence. I wish the best for you, and I hope you continue to learn about men's issues! <3

The constant downplaying of misandry is the clearest indicator of just how little the overwhelming majority of people understand about men's issues. Even the slightest bit of research into men's issues would show that this could not be further from the truth, yet people who don't even try to read into men's issues feel it is appropriate to so boldly claim that misandry "doesn't matter". What's worse is that even when anyone tries to educate them about why their beliefs are highly faulty, there i…

Love how they had to sneak in a bit of misogyny too by saying any woman who disagrees with them must have just been brainwashed, as if women can't just oppose misandry off of their own free will.

On Reddit Mobile, if you press on the image of a post then scroll to the comments, the body text will appear without any formatting or line breaks. But if you click on the post itself (i.e. outside the image), the formatting and line breaks will be left intact. I don't know why Reddit Mobile works like this, but it does.

It's such a shame that some people can't just call out the specific individuals responsible and instead decide to stoop to bigotry and generalizations over the actions of one. The worst part is these people will likely insist that their misandry is completely justified because of that man, completely missing the entire problem of their generalizing, bigoted statements just so that they can be hateful without remorse.

Society in general seems more interested in talking about men's behavior and beliefs as if men are these weird, unusual, and unknowable creatures, with people speculating on what men are like based on their pre-existing biases and experiences rather than just... asking them. It's especially annoying because people will sometimes just decide what men's opinions are even when the actual opinions of men contradict it. As an example, when Roe v. Wade was overturned in the USA, many people decided it…

Streep justifies her sexism against men by saying that she was mirroring her experiences with men throughout her career in Hollywood. It has always deeply annoyed me how people sometimes try to excuse bigotry with bigotry. Instead of calling out the specific individuals or systems responsible for the bigotry, they only end up using it to cause further harm by spreading more bigotry, unfairly generalizing entire immutable groups made of people who are overwhelmingly innocent and had nothing to do…

I mostly follow r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates and TheTinMen. Sometimes I check this sub too, although only rarely since I prefer a more left-wing approach to male issues (that isn't Feminism). No, except for "Men's Rights". Mostly because I don't have many right-wing beliefs and don't really feel strongly about being masculine. Maybe political content regarding Men's Issues if you count that since it's a bit of a vague label, but otherwise none of them. See Answer 1. Mostly issues about Misandry (incl…

Kinda insane people here are trying to justify rape just because it's happening to criminals. There's a VERY good reason why the USA has an ammendment specifically against Cruel & Unusual punishments, which rape and sexual assault definitely fits into. No matter how bad of a person a criminal is, raping/sexually assaulting them is completely unjustifiable; it's just punishment for the sake of punishment, which is something the prison system really doesn't need any more of considering it has cons…

Not only do I believe that, in general, misandry in its true definition is a valid “prejudice” (due to the billions of distasteful actions committed by men every second) I don't get why these people always bring up the evil things some men do to justify misandry as if similar reasoning can't be used to justify misogyny or literally any other kind of bigotry ever. Like, I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna be tricked into feeling unnecessary guilt just because some person who shares an immutable trait wi…

It's borderline comedic how they heavily strawmanned MRAs here by not presenting the actual arguments against Feminism, such as the fact that the feminists who have the power/influence always seem to consistently hurt men and men's issues by pushing for laws and policies that directly discriminate against men, spreading disinformation against men or men's issues, and enabling or downplaying misandry. No, it's just that we think "society favors women".

I agree that we shouldn't fight feminists at literally every opportunity, but I think fighting against misinformation about male issues (including ones made by feminists) is not just a legitimate part of male advocacy, but also necessary. Feminists should get criticized for when they mess up with issues regarding men, especially if they want to claim that they are for Gender Equality and for acknowledging male issues.

It still disgusts me so much that a woman who literally broke into a man's home without his consent and filmed his naked and unconscious body to post for the entire internet to see was able to trick so many (and maybe including herself) into treating her as a victim when she's the one literally posting revenge porn.

People in general seem adamant in refusing how good looks genuinely have a big impact on how people perceive you. I think it's partly because people want to believe society treats people fairly and will treat you well if you were just a good person, regardless of any other factors that you may or may not be able to control. This ends up with people treating a failure to get dates as if it were some moral failure and proof that you are simply a bad person (especially if you're a man trying to get…

Honestly, I really wish I could believe that feminists were sincere with caring about men, but this subreddit and r/ToxicFeminismIsToxic does a really good job of reminding me why many men (myself included) just can't trust feminists at their words at all. So consistently they've deliberately hurt men in some deluded belief that it'll help women or even just for the sake of maliciously hurting men for no reason at all. And yet, whenever anyone calls them out for their blatant misandric actions, …

And I was told intersectional feminists were supposed to be the good ones. Guess not. I really hope that, one day, society wakes up and realizes that all this gender segregation is really only further dividing the genders rather than actually meaningfully protecting anybody.

Someone should tell these people that a character being liked doesn't mean the audience actually thinks they're a good/better person morally. A fun and overdramatic villain is almost always more likable than a character that is minorly mean/annoying in a realistic way.

Legitimately kinda laughing at "a reimagined version of masculinity revolves around protecting friends and family", as if he was presenting some never-heard-of idea of masculinity when it's literally just traditional masculinity repackaged in progressive language.
