Too real. And I don't think a solution exists other than distancing myself from these subs. I think another problem is completely judging based NOT on the question but the other - possibly unrelated - circumstances. I've seen some crap about how "you are not the arse for what you did but for xy (totally unrelated) stuff". There even was a post a while back if I remember correctly that addressed the very same issue and nothing happened.

Seen a similar one today on the relationship advice sub. Same pattern. And when you show this as proof, people will tell you off by saying you set them up and its not fair, yadda yadda. Kind of pathetic. Shows how messed up the general mindset became. And not only in the US or UK.

If that most of the time part isn't life or death, I agree. I'm a skinny guy but I can at least hold down most women's arms so they don't go bashing around. But if they have a weapon? That's a whole other story. I shouldn't be required to stand idly while I'm being hammered or something.

That's messed up but I can relate to an extent, though I have no degree yet. Researched some topics and people who questioned me never even read the articles I sent them. Really annoying. Never heard of the expression but then again, English isn't my native language. Thanks for the link, I will get into it asap. Maybe I unknowingly use some of these tactics and it'd be great to get rid of them!

That's what I feared. I mean, there are non-extremist people among the opposition and I think some of them would be open to genuine dialogue too. On another note it's easy to spot a totally ignorant person and one who is at least minimally open to discussion. I think I might just start taking screenshots too just in case. Paranoid or not, it's evidence. Better safe than sorry, right?

I see, thank you! It's sad, the ignorance. But I guess I have to pay way more attention so I can read the observers and decide whether to get into a debate about what I truly said or just carry on after commenting "I said x, not y". Oh well. I guess you people are right, no point in arguing with ignorant people.

Oh man, thanks for all the heads-up! I'd have never thought it's this...severe. In a way it's comical but I guess I just haven't encountered enough entitled people to stop thinking it is funny in a sad way. Yea, it's probably best I make an alt-account in case I get into it.
