During the last draft (Vietnam) and all other prior drafts, only men could serve combat roles, and during drafts that's all they really need (there's enough men going into non-combat roles to escape the front lines) Cost/benefit. It costs a lot of money to train a soldier in boot camp, and it is wasted if the soldier washes out. 6	Male Privilege The likelihood of another draft in the foreseeable future is very slim, especially due to the fact that the government realized it can carry on whatever useless war it wants with very little public outcry so long as they keep it volunteer only. For example raping a man and becoming pregnant from it, or if they engage in oral sex and she impregnates herself with semen she obtained through non-PIV sex. It should be only used if abstinence, and contraception both fail and adoption wouldn't be practical. I'm not saying it shouldn't be legal if the pregnancy came about because of irresponsibility but it shouldn't be nonchalantly done. Edit: adoption to a relative/loving family.
