I'm gay and all of my friends are women. I don't know how to say this without it sounding a certain way, but I think it depends on what type of gay man you are. Sorry - that sounds so bad, but I think it's probably accurate.

Gay man here. I stand up for men all the time. Honestly I would return the question to you - Why don't straight men defend men and stand up for themselves? I live in the UK, and here our culture is deeply immersed in explicit misandry, to the point where I sometimes feel I'm living in some dystopic sci-fi movie. Either I'm going mad and losing my grip on reality, or something genuinely worrying is happening. Gay men are not exempt from this, but really the target is straight men. I'm constantly …

You'd be amazed by how often that is not the case. Gay men are yesterday's cause.

OK I see your point.

Well no he added a little more nuance than that. He did say 'generally' and added that there are cases that contradict his opinion. Also he used the blanket term 'worse', not the more specific 'less impactful or meaningful'.

If you read the information about that Youtube channel the creator openly describes the videos as short stories he originates. He's openly telling you it's fictional. Every video on the channel is anti-feminist. It's very likely AI generated. Are we really falling this easily for self identified propaganda?

I see that, but relatively speaking I think this sub does better than many in terms of over simplified thinking. This particular post is a low point in that regard. (If you find a sub that excels in critical thinking, let me know!)

Damn - the unpopularity of this comment has made me think differently about this sub. Not sure I'm in the right place.

Of course! Most things! I know there are those who question the idea that it was harder to be a woman in the past than to be a man, but it seems obvious to me that it's accurate in several important ways. In my country (UK) women couldn't vote until the 20th century! I think the entire first wave of feminism was absolutely vital. I also have a lot of sympathy with the fact that women's' biology has a far bigger impact on their lives than men's, and I think there should be institutional systems i…

I don't know. The movements you highlight - LGBTQ, feminism, and BLM - all have had very different levels of scale and influence. Furthermore, the origins of women's rights, gay rights, and black rights are all rooted in centuries old prejudice, discrimination, and even persecution. I don't think the current injustices of anti-male bias can even begin to compare. As for the more recent developments like BLM and the 'TQ+' part of the LGB (and you can also add the MeToo movement), we have to look …

One of my most repeated comments on social media is - "Let's do a quick gender swap on this. It it still OK?" It's such an easy little exercise of the imagination that everyone should be able to manage. But most of the time people seem to have no idea where I'm coming from. Honestly I find it quite disturbing sometimes, that blindness to such a basic equality. Some women, and maybe even some men, may laugh at my saying that - at a man lecturing them about equality. But shouldn't that basic equal…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
