1	Nodding Raises Likability and Approachability - "The act of nodding positively affects the subjective likability of people by about 30 percent and their approachability by 40 percent" I wonder how they got these results because I've read the opposite. Someone at work nods the second you speak to her, and I get annoyed because she's agreeing before you've even made your full statement, without knowing what you've had to say. I feel interrupted. 1	Five years in the Game and Yes, it ALL comes down to Confidence Interesting point. I've very deliberately put together playlists without any negativity or weirdness whatsoever, and this is very hard to do. Almost all recent music is junky and so much classical music has useless tension that goes nowhere. Thus, I wind up with early Mozart and 40's Big Band music. 4	[xMODx] Seddit Simple Questions Thread 3/7/16 I feel like there's some humongous fact about the sexual economy I'm missing. How can so many men and women meet at random places, have sex, and, well, not give a fuck? Is there an implicit expectation just never to see each other again? What percentage of people engage in random hook ups and multiple relationships at some point? 6	Dale Carnegie's Core Principles in "How To Win Friends and Influence People" are incredibly useful for everyday interactions with everyone. Try incorporating one of these each day. Disagree. 1	What type of meditation? The question is in itself a bit nonsensical. What regimen? That's a very western attitude towards something which is meant to cut to the meaning of your very existence and the nature of reality, as an aim in itself. Meditation also is a nonlinear process, so no one can really say to you do so many so often and you should expect these kinds of results. 1	I asked a question in r/gameofthrones about why it only showed graphic violence against male characters - it didn't go well. This is a bit of a stretch. I really don't see how you can apply a critique appropriate for 21st century society to a fantasy world which follows a Medeval code of chivalry. There is no premise whatsoever of egalitarianism in Westoros. 3	Apparently Barak Obama is "sexist" for calling Kamala Harris 'good-looking'. Men can't even try and be nice to women these days. Yeah, this is absurd. Probably should have coupled the comment with "since RFK" so no one could make the sexist claim. While the act of charity is touching, I just have to wonder whether the bulk of persons switching genders do so for physiological reasons (like brain chemistry) or for social reasons. (The students may not get an office anyway, so the whole point could be moot.) The issue at hand is whether spaces are to be adapted to their users and to the community they serve. 3	Simon Fraser Men's Centre: Need advice Don't worry about naysayers. Anyone who creates something gets criticized. I think the Men's Centre is an excellent idea. I'm not exactly sure how funding works in the Canadian university system, but 30,000 probably isn't enough to hire your own staff. However, it is certainly enough to host a number of events, construct a website, set up a space, and create flyers.
