There are some women who defy all red pill expectations. Look at Ming-na Wen. She's in her 50s and she looks this good. Notice how fully she smiles, so it doesn't seem like she's on Botox at all. (Image: http://celebmafia.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/ming-na-wen-the-lego-movie-premiere-in-los-angeles_6.jpg) If I can accomplish a fraction of what she does (look that good in my 50s and be an amazing martial artist), I'd be very satisfied with my lot as a woman. It's definitely possible with prop…

If you have to be forced to interact with guys, I think you need to work on your comfort levels around the opposite gender. I was in the same sort of situation in high school, but making male friends was one of the best things that happened to me. It made it a lot easier for me to approach guys I didn't know, and start up a conversation. It was also reassuring to know that I didn't come off as freak to the other half of humanity. In addition, it gets rid of some self-sabotaging myths like "Guys …

I've had a public-speaking teacher who's like that in a class of only girls. He has a feminist wife, readily flatters us on our work, and would hold the proper pro-women stances shared by my classmates. I honestly liked him. He made me feel like I was insightful, intelligent, a fascinating person. However, he overlooked my insecurities and flaws so I can't really trust his perception of me. Also, the class swerved into being an echo chamber and he facilitated that. White knights are like chocola…

Wow, even CNN says that it's pointless. And it's not at all representative of women. It's mostly white women when the majority of white women voted for Trump, and it excludes pro-life feminists. I think the women empowerment movement needs to switch from an external approach to an internal approach. They need to stop blaming the "patriarchy" for womens' issues. They should be addressing the problem of women majoring in useless degrees, missing the timeframe for having children, teenagers being b…

The conservative figures (e.g Ben Shapiro, Steven Crowder) say they prefer a woman who's upfront with what they want. Their wives told them they were looking for someone to marry on one of the first few dates. I guess that would be good advice if you are looking for a traditional, principled guy. Also, it quickly weeds out the guys not into commitment. I wonder, what type of guys would be attracted by the more subtle approach?

By the looks of it, he is way too busy to pursue a relationship and that doesn't seem like something you have to worry about. As far as platonic friendships go, I've found great value in them in my male friends. It helped me get over being intimidated by guys. My male friends tend to be older, so they give me a lot of great career/academic advice. Also, I've gotten better at empathizing with guys. Some of them happened to be even more shy than I am, so I've had to work at bringing them out of th…

Thanks for the advice. After looking at it from multiple angles, I can't see how this is not a desperate act that would lead to many regrets. I really shouldn't try to force these things to happen.

Ok, so the issue is more about commitment rather than gender (assuming both genders can value monogamy). That makes sense, and I agree with you on that.

Ok, I just realized that I used the wrong term. What I meant is the "optimiser" mindset. As in, everyone should go for the best person they can get. So both genders would switch partners for a better one, if given the chance.

Why is there some gender difference in this issue? Is it like promiscuity where it tends to do more harm to women than to men? If so, in what ways?

To be fair to the man, his suggestion is more analogous to Apple trying to convert Windows users to their iMacs. It's cutthroat, but not "cheating" I guess the justification is that free markets should allow people the greatest number of options and no relationship is binding until it reaches a contractual agreement in both the buisiness and dating world. If this is wrong in the dating world, why should dating have higher standards than the free-market? Sorry if I'm being annoying as the devil's…

His argument would probably be "be so good, the man won't leave you". I guess this goes into whether or not to support hypergamy for both genders.

I have to admit that I fantasize a lot about being the femme fetale [hence the moniker], while in real life most people describe me as "cute" and "sweet". I agree that it's healthy to incorporate a bit of the dark side into the personality. Jung asserted that disowning the shadow leads to dysfunction, while Freud pushed the idea that repressing the id will lead to a disastrous backlash. I've seen this with overly nurturing women who've become suffocating and possessive to their loved ones. It's …

My problem as well. Do you also completely suck at flirting? Every time a remotely attractive guy talks to me, I try to hide my nervousness (stop myself from smiling, avoid making direct eye contact, speak in short sentences, etc.). But, I probably come off as apathetic.

Autumn is the best. No spring showers, no blazing heat, a lot fewer freezing cold days. Just a cool breeze and the days are mostly sunny where I live.

I'm going to take a very abstract approach to this, but this will definitely be helpful to you if you have a more analytical mind. Femininity, as I've come to understand it, is beauty and the desire to manifest it. There are noble aspects, as well as shallow aspects. Unfortunately, modern ideals of beauty focus on its shallow aspects. Many people (especially celebrities) see beauty as a means of garnering attention and fame. And they often manifest it by airbrushing, extreme diets, photoshopping…

Pretty clever idea to put the experimental looks in a "girl's night" category. I have to admit that there are some trendy looks I want to try, but I know most guys won't be up for it. Your three looks seem like a good place to start.

Yes, because changing your look takes research and practice. You don't want to add on another year or two until you've acheived the look you want. Also, it's a chance to get to know yourself, your preferences, and what compliments you. It might be hard to look "sexy" when you're uncomfortable with your weight. But, you can at least manage to be "elegant" and "classy". Adele is a good example. Start out with accessories like scarves, handbags, jewlery, hats, etc. At least you don't have to worry …

Thank you for your kind wishes. I get what you're saying about not using makeup purely to impress others. At the same time, I can't understand why anyone would use makeup independent of others' opinions, for their own self-gratification. Makeup seems like art to me, and the post-modern artists who completely reject people's sensibilities in pursuit of their own 'vision' come up with the most grotesque things. I honestly have no idea how anyone wears as makeup as an extension of self-esteem. A lo…

Well if the guy is contouring on a six pack in the same way some women contour on extra cleavage, I would say yes that is male deception. I'm being somewhat cheeky here :p . But I do get that makeup can be used to maximize physical looks instead of completely altering the look into something else. That's a pretty good idea: get retail person to make recommendations for me. I definitely need to do that when I get eyeshadow for some evening looks. Thanks for the input.

How about the BBC's remake Shakespeare's "How to Tame a Shrew"?It's a pretty humourous movie about a man falling for a bitchy woman politician and all the schinanigans he uses to get her to drop the attitude. None of the characters identify as feminists or overtly display feminist leanings exept towards the end when one couple is arguing about signing a prenup. I think it's pretty safe feminist-wise, and it has a nice message about couples needing to be agreeable and accepting of one another.

Totally agree with your last statement. Especially after learning about Zoey Quinn. It's great to grow out of being 'just a nerd' or an ugly duckling and I think all the former nerds on this thread should celebrate that as we move on.

From the mens' forums and youtube channels that I've lurked on, the most lacking, and desirable feminine trait in the modern world seems to be empathy. I think a major flaw in most female empowerment programs is this narcissistic focus on feeling beautiful and confident, even without merit. If you look at traditional, positive feminine archetypes, they almost always have a nurturing side. For example, Disney princesses like Cinderella and Snow White took care of animals and dwarves. Try connecti…

I've only briefly flirted with two guys who were jocks in high school, but interest between both of us died out fairly quckly. I was a nerd into philosophy and science; the two guys were too insecure about their intellect and admitted it too readily.

I love that movie, but I did want to punch Kat so many times for acting like a "strong" feminist when she's really just a hurt girl running away from past mistakes and Daddy issues. I totally experienced what you've said about jocks. Whoever said that "opposites attract" is an idiot, unless he's a physicist.

It's a little bit of both, but I definitely changed more than my social circle changed. My social circle in high school was mostly socially awkward girls plus some chic, popular girls who for some reason were drawn to my introverted, studious demeanor. I get guys approach me from time to time, but I sucked at trying to engaged them. Now, I'm dressing more stylishly and femininely. And I'm working on being able to converse on a variety of topics. I'm still hopeless on sports. But I've held up goo…

Another thing you could do to boost collagen on your face is to get a microneedle roller. It punctures tiny holes into your skin, which signals the body to start repairing your face. This sounds painful, but it's only been mildly irritating for me and it doesn't cause bleeding. Just don't apply too much pressure and start with a small microneedle length (0.5 mm) then work your way up. It helped me smooth out my skin from acne scars and the studies I've read studies that it also increases skin ab…

Thanks, I try my best to start an interesting conversation. Don't know if your classmates are necessarily resigned because of their current SMV or life outcome. They could be reacting to the economy of politics. I think the teen loser-better outcome trend is more applicable towards the extreme ends of high school popularity (i.e nerd vs dumb jock/beauty queen). I happened to have been a nerd, and I'm already seeing some turn-around in college. I guess nerds take a long time to refine their nerdi…

I'm not against an equal partnership or masculine qualities in women. In fact, I'm an engineering undergraduate who weight lifts and enjoys crass humor. What I am against is the idea that women should compete with men or strive to emulate them. Mostly, this is pushed by the feminists who claim that there is a patriarchy that enforces the wage gap, opposes females in STEM, invented slut shaming, etc. You and your lifestyle don't reflect that mindset, so I don't oppose that. The only issue I have-…

Ha, high school sucked for even the pretty, popular girls I've talked to because they would get wrapped up in all sorts of drama. You didn't miss much by not taking care off yourself. By senior year, most of the girls I knew were breaking up their LTRs. Congrats on finding your SO. It's really remarkable to find someone you can deeply connect with at an early age.

You seem pretty down-to-earth. Highschool me would easily get a swollen ego from being asked out by many guys at that age, especially if I thought they didn't fit my standards. Did you have friends or family who kept you grounded?

Interesting, did you still have beta orbiters or admirers around you during the LDRs? Did having a commited boyfriend shielded you from that? I'm asking because my theory is that the women who have a dysfunctional view of their SMV or men are that way because beta orbiters do have detrimental effects on a woman's self-esteem. And I think it may explain why women in general resent or have contempt for beta orbiters, despite being treated fairly well by them.

Feel this with my cousins a lot. Luckily the familial bond was strong enough to overcome the "competitiveness"- jealousy if we're both going to be honest. I think it helps that we have the shared history and inside jokes that predate the time we all started becoming self-conscious. So, we can all talk about how perfect our new shopping finds look on us and helping each other with the makeup without feeling like one of us gets diminished when the other looks better. We're kinda vain, but all of u…

What really helped me get a good perspective on weight and body image is to focus on health, rather than appearance. Health, at least, is very objective and you can get a doctor's input. Also, your fiancé probably won't become concerned if you are looking out for your health, rather than going after thinness. I think the "am I too fat?" question is the wrong one to ask. What you should be asking is "do I want to be healthy?" (by American standards, I'm assuming) or "do I want to be athletic?" Ye…

My dialogue to my younger (14 year old) self: "You are a reasonable person. No one else in the world has pondered over your flaws and advantages as much as you have. No one else is as invested in your success. If there is something that truely bothers you about yourself, you have the ability and will to improve. That said, where are these insecurities coming from? The celebrities and fashion magazines that want to parasite off of your parents' money? The snide looks from girls at school, who reg…

That clears a lot of things up for me. I actually thought the alpha/beta concept is a binary, because the guys I'm around are pretty polarized. The engineering/science majors are mostly "nice guy" betas with the occasional, unapologetic alpha with big career goals like working at NASA/SpaceX.

I think the book just points out the trade-off between choosing a headstrong man vs the supportive man. If you choose the dominant guy, you are going to have to bend to his will more often then vice versa, in other words practice submission, and you can't have a demanding career that competes for your attention. If you want to be the go-getting careerist, you will need someone to be encouraging and willing to work out a plan.

For me, drunk sex/consent is analgous to drunk driving. It's about as ridiculous to place blame on the sexual partner as it is to blame the bartender. Where I lived previously, a drunk driver actually sued her bartender after getting into an accident. The only thing that saved the bartender was a video clip that clearly showed "a reasonable person" could not tell the woman was drunk.

Don't worry it's not that. What I'm talking about comes from Jung's theory of archetypes. According to Jung, all men have a feminine subconscious side called the anima and all women have a masculine subconscious side called the animus. For women, the animus is supposed to be the source of creativity rationality, ability to problem solve, etc. I guess the reason why my archetypes are very lively is because I'm a very introverted and introspective person with a big imagination. I found therapy very useful for dealing with anxiety. However, I did end up talking about a messed up family situation and having an emotional breakdown. If you do some introspection and suspect that your psychological problems are rooted in past- perhaps childhood- issues, you probably need professional help to get that resolved. Hello, I'm a newbie on reddit, and my main reason for joining was to interact with RPW. I'm a college student and I have been fortunate enough to grow up in a "traditional", asian household where my relatives have been brutally honest about my looks and lack of feminine habits. Although mainstream media has succeeded in making me resent my family in my early teens, my family's persistence forced me to improve myself and I have grown grateful for that. However, my female relatives don't understan…

Thank-you for clarifying that. I have no problem when it is done out of respect or personal standards, which I hope is the case for most men. What worries me is the PC culture and the feminists threatening men with "misogynist" and "bigot" slurs if they say anything that falls under the category of "slut shaming" or "chauvinism". I was somewhat concerned that I come off as someone with those leanings, but it's good to know that it might not be the case.
