3	Why is being shallow considered a negative thing? "It is considered negative because appearance is heavily determined by genetics, which are out of people's control. " So are a lot of behavioral traits. Adult general intelligence and personality a lot of other traits are also incredibly stable and pretty much impossible to change. Genes don't just code for your appearance, they also code for your brain that makes up who "you" are.
