When it comes to gender, engineers don't know anymore than anybody else. If you could tell me than engineering doesn't participate in the 'women in STEM' campaigns then I would change my mind. They also tend to have a problem with critical thinking. Show me an academic who believes in astrology, and it's probably an engineer. High school teachers can no longer be trusted to spot, or be objective about, talent. You're probably right about this one. The odds of reporting permanent academic placement two years after graduation are .37 for males, 1.85 for females I'm just pointing out that it is especially the fields that render themselves more and more irrelevant or a rendered irrelevant by technology that women flood into. But women aren't 'flooding' into philosophy, and that's precisely why there is all this anti-male discrimination in the field.
