Useful to who? Any construct that coerces people to perform gender roles as if they're expected to behave and be certain things just because of the reproductive organs they were born with, is inherently limiting and harmful by default. It also creates a false polarity and marginalizes all of the diverse gender expression that exists between m/f

Masculinity is a made up social construct just like feminity. It's completely subjective and based on performance of made up roles. Both binary gender performances are harmful to all humans. You're right and this sub has a lot more unscientific conservative "male advocates" who don't get this.

You have no chance. I'm queer and non-binary and there is no space I've come across that wasn't rampant with normalized misandry. Especially in the West. They're also quite racist. You will find more community and acceptance around just regular kind people.

The laws in India are drafted by privileged Indian feminists who study white feminism in University and online. Most laws in India are British colonial laws that are attempted to be modified a bit to Indian society, and reactionary in nature. Find a country truly untouched by Western colonization, and you will see significantly less influence of white feminism there. The countries you named are all heavily West-centering and imperialized. They study Western education systems and liberal philosop…

The global majority is also not as deeply rooted in white feminism. The continual process of dehumanizing men is a white feminist strategy, that influences the world but cannot fully take control of it. The rest of the world manages to still see men as humans beings on the odd occasion, especially if their education is based in eastern spiritual / collectivist philosophy

Socialism on its own is egalitarian. Operating in a de-colonized way, it is benefiting both men and women's issues. Especially since men make up the vast majority of labour class jobs and are impacted by capitalistic oppression. Socialism mixed in with an oppressive system is what will, and has, caused harm.

He implied the opposite though - neither men nor women on their own should fix, but that society as a whole + government officials have to take responsibility to change systems and create change and safe spaces. I appreciate that

I 100% agree that a significant amount of damage is done by the hypocrisy of patriarchal gender roles being enforced on men even by liberal feminists, however it is also up to men to reject those roles in unison, in the same way women are rejecting theirs. If only one man walks away from his gender role. He is going to be outcast. But in community and solidarity, if enough men do - you have social change and the rest of the world has to adapt to balance it out.

That is a fair bit of accountability. And contribution, but not sole responsibility. But individual misandry is not, and never was, the primary cause of male loneliness and isolation. It takes entire socio-economic systems to do that. Not a few angry feminists with clout. Men also embraced and normalised misogyny for very long before women collectively resisted it and demanded that men do better - this had direct effects. It didn't fix misogyny, but it sure has improved the treatment of women in…

The focus on loneliness is a long time study, but the term "epidemic" was thrown in the 2020s, this is a recent framing. Podcast bros didn't coin it (the US surgeon general did with his declaring loneliness as a crisis) but podcast bros did popularize it in mass media and on social media, with knee jerk reactions from feminist social clouts. New media is where medical or nuanced opinions often go to die, as they did here.

You fail to factor in the collective potential for men as a social group to bargain on all of our behalves. Just as women can "choose to lower their standards", men can choose to not be in relationships with women who want to economically extract from them without providing for themselves. Across the income board. Let's leave the top 5% out. If even the top 30% male earners have any basic common value and solidarity, they can outright refuse to be in relationships with women who aren't bringing …

Being able to contribute to an issue is a support role. Women absolutely can contribute and I don't think Zohran (or most women I've met) believe that women don't play a part in supporting men's issues. But being responsible for fixing it is a whole different thing, it places the entire active burden of fixing something on individual people that aren't centrally responsible for larger systems existing. It's also self-defeating because then you're saying men don't have the agency to uplift themse…

I lost interest in replying constructively to your comment after you quoted a ridiculous study about how most billionaires are "self made". There is clearly no systems understanding here, completely invalidating the amount of privilege it takes to become a billionaire besides just being born into wealth. This lopsided class-blind a-historic logic wouldn't be able to explain why black people are so heavily under-represented (less than 1%) of billionaires. They've been generationally denied access…

Actually no, while I've seen only radical misandrists constantly blame men - I am yet to meet and actual feminist activist who believes anyone but -women themselves- are responsible for liberating them from oppression. They believe men can be allies or support them towards equality, but women themselves must build and utilize their own agency and take charge of their own liberation. That agency is one of the core tenets of intersectional feminism, outside of the social media radical variant of "…

That dating expectation harms women just as much. If 80% of women expected a man to provide income that only 5% of men make - that's not just 95% men not in relationships, it's also 95% women who can't find a partner to suit their expectations now. It affects both genders adversely, and is not just a men's issue. But the fact that 1. Income is used as a metric to determine the value of a man, and 2. Income is one way to measure class status, but not the only. Ancestry, racial structures, occupation, level of human rights and liberty available to an individual, etc also determine your class position in modern society. Eg. None of those anthropological concepts cause modern male loneliness. Prior civilizations, especially community based collectivist civilizations, had pretty effective coping mechanisms for mental stressors and isolation. This loneliness crisis is prevalent in modern individualistic societies that have been intentionally designed to isolate labour and over-exploit them to the point of having no access to community and health resources. The rich and wealthy are not dying of loneliness to any number…

I think that speaks more to the content your algorithms think you'd subscribe to. If you have any liberal views, your social media will show you way more feminist narratives on this than conservative right wing / red pill manosophere content around it. And they both miss the mark as usual.

I actually don't think it's a strange man that's the threat at all - you're projecting a strawman onto me. There are plenty of women that are billionaires and beneficiaries of wealth and power built off of slavery and exploitation. They're all responsible for the systems they created.

The "male loneliness epidemic" term was popularized by a lot of redpill bro podcasters that are gateways to right wing conservative politics. In all of the narratives they framed, they blamed women and "liberal dating norms". Feminist podcasters went into defensive reactions, ranging from moderate reactions like "it's not a real issue" to "it is an issue but you did it to yourselves", to more extreme and radical reactions like "yes it's an issue and we want you to be lonely". Most of what I came…

The podcaster is feminist, the context he's being asked this question in was feminist context. He handled it really well and didn't take the bait. While he opens with 'its not women's responsibility' he also did NOT say nor imply 'its men's responsibility to fix this on their own', that was the bait and he didn't bite. He understands systems change enough to know neither women nor men are individually responsible for such a complex and real crisis, and did not imply either one needs to take that…

There's millions of redpillers who centrally and fully blame women for the male loneliness crisis, and feminist media is in a reactionary state to them. The podcaster who hosted Zohran framed it this way to him for the exact same reason, it was bait. He didn't take the bait of saying "it's men's fault actually", he validated that this is a real issue and redirected to real systemic causes.

Go one step further. It is designed to harm men for the sake of elite capitalists who want to enslaved men for their self interests, wealth accumulation and power consolidation, and 'empower' women just enough to bring them into the labour force (to then exploit and enslave them under the same systems). There are larger systems responsible for our loneliness than some girl who is afraid of a man on the street.

AI girlfriends and video games make loneliness better like fentanyl makes depression better. Please understand systems issues. Men overall aren't suffering because of individual women. They're suffering because the system was built to fuck them over and consolidate power in the hands of the wealthy few, and raised men just to go die in wars for them or build infrastructure for them. Zohran is actually the first Leftist dem politician this decade to have the popular male vote of men under 40 acro…

There are two extreme rhetorics around this - right wing: "it's all women's fault", and feminists reacting to them: "we didn't do shit, you brought this on yourself" / "it's not a real issue at all" The podcaster falls into the latter category and framed this question at Zohran leading with "why is it women's responsibility". He answered really well by directing to the actual issues that require systems change by all people involved in community.

It's very clear his phrasing is not "women have nothing to do with it", but that it's systemic change v/s individual change. Addressing systemic causes (that he highlights) requires BOTH men and women working towards progress. Like any other systemic change. Expecting one demographic to solve the problems of another demographic is counterproductive and has -never- led to systems change. Do you think men (and systemic change) have no agency to solve their problems? If so, you're arguing from a ridiculous self-victimizing standpoint that women (all women, regardless of whether they're feminists or not) must bear the responsibility of solving men's issues. That's actually BS and counter-productive to male advocacy which is rooted in reclaiming male agency to then impact change. Women's role is to support, help and be allies - it is not to be the one's responsible for all change on…

It was framed at him by the podcast interviewer in this way, which was definitely feminist rhetoric. He (correctly) states that women cannot solve a men's issue - they can only help. Moreover, he also did not fall for the trap of invalidation and gaslighting the issue entirely, pretending like it's not a real issue (which feminists have done) - instead highlighting the socioeconomic factors that have caused it.

Radical feminist philosophy may have made a lot of mistakes, but they've harmed the credibility of the feminist movement to the masses a lot more than they've harmed men. This is a very reactionary take. Because men's issues far predate modern radical feminism's niche presence. Men's issues like mental / physical health outcomes, death by war or suicide, marginalization under forced gender norms like "provider / protector", mass incarceration and slavery, etc are FAR older than radical feminism'…

The bar really is that low as far as liberal / left politicians go when they speak about mens issues. None of them understand that working class issues are mens issues (because most liberal politicians are elitists with privileged lives who do not face the issues common men face). I'm not surprised it took a socialist who backs the working class to make an even remotely acceptable statement highlighting systemic causes.

From the podcast interview: "I think that is a (male loneliness) crisis that's born out of more systemic forces, and a lot of them have to do with just this greater sense of alienation in today's world as things are becoming more and more expensive for people to afford, and the connections between people are fraying'. Thank you, and there are a lot of men like this sub. The more women we can work with, the more holistic and egalitarian social change can truly be for all genders. The most shocking part I find is how tone deaf the misandrists on the Left are, in not recognizing that their man-hating harms trans men and BIPOC men the most - groups that they otherwise would perform "allyship" for.

Therapists are less likely to be misandrist than the usual feminist (because they traditionally lead through empathy) but can be quite ignorant to the male experience because it's a female dominated field. When they do happen to be misandrist, it is very lethal because they're actively harming and gaslighting male clients.

It is an intersection of both but the power dynamic being misused is race primarily when white women marginalize men of colour. Misandry is present but as the secondary variable. So you want only the "good" feminist actions to define feminism, not the wanton harm they've caused, the toxicity and misandry rampant in every wave of it, and the complete lack of accountability for what feminists have gotten away with by their own movement? Feminism is the reason male abuse and rape survivors in India cannot get legal protection (they lobbied and pressured the governments there to write gender biased SA / DV laws that cannot recognize a male victim or female perpetrator) Good luck trying to tell male abuse survivors here that they're not supposed to address feminism as the reason they are dying.

I appreciate you not wanting to speak on behalf of POC men, the right approach here would be to center and enable their voices the few times you might hear one speaking about their issues. DEI policies in North America have by and large most strongly benefited white women, a group with immense privilege and class power which also claims to somehow be a marginalized group. They have also managed to completely problematize men in a race-blind way, presuming "male privilege" as some universal factor - which disproportionately marginalizes POC men. Getting called out on your anti-immigrant xenophobia while living in (and benefiting from) colonial countries built on enslavement and white supremacy, is not a hard prediction to make. Yeah I agree being male is the major determinant of police/systemic prejudice in a domestic / intimate partner setting, racial prejudice just doubles it. The biggest factor in my case is that it was a white woman - white women wield the highest legal / public / cultural power in the West. Also you should look into the origin and meaning behind "Aryan". The word is indigenous, and existed long before a racial fascist appropriated and tarnished it in the 20th century :)

It isn't legal to carry concealed combat knives for sure. But imagine a male dark skinned immigrant going to a white police officer and telling them they felt threatened by a white woman local. The systemic racialized misandry is too scary to even attempt a police complaint because of fear of consequences on an immigrant's public and legal status. Not enough Left advocates talk about the power dynamics that cripple male immigrant men from the global South who migrate to North America / Europe.

The most telling thing is feminists want to dismantle only parts of patriarchy that benefit them, they are happy to keep the parts of patriarchy that are advantages to them like dating norms, male sexual violence victims not having laws to protect themselves, war being a male-conscription forced issue, etc

And feminism dehumanizes men at large to make it much easier to send them to the cannons as fodder

This is what women who spoke up about fat-shaming were also told. But they support each other and keep speaking up and find more allies. Height discrimination needs a similar persistence especially when it's tying into a major global conversation around male mental health advocacy which needs more male voices in it!

There's a lot of toxic beauty standards to unpack there. More people need to speak up about height discrimination. Especially men themselves. Not just "shorter" men, but men above the average height or those in that "perfect" height range for their part of the world also need to call it out. These toxic societal standards have shaped toxic masculine "preferences", and they're so arbitrary, they have nothing to do with any actual positive traits / features in men. I once spoke to a bisexual woman…

The reason they push this disinformation around false allegations is to prevent legislation around it. So that the real stats never make it into pressuring government policy into criminally punishing a false allegation appropriately in a way that deters them. And no, defamation suits are not a workaround, a false allegation must be punishable by at least 50% of the criminal sentence of the allegation that was made.

because brown/red men are too occupied with being bombed and starved to death everywhere, they won't have the capacity to educate and advocate for male issues globally.

This analogy is, unfortunately, also a false equivalence. Racism is a far more systemic and ancient form of oppression with significantly worse consequences than gender. Race is directly and completely connected to systems of class privilege. Gender is not. You can much easily have a wealthy white woman and a poor black man from the Global South - suddenly gender "power dynamics" completely fall apart there because other, deeper and more collectively lethal systems of power take hold. It is very…

Look up the human rights activist Shivam Patil who posted about this on his insta, that's where I read about it. He pointed out the systemic misandry that enables such abuse.

The man thought he dodged a bullet by changing his mind about marrying her, but often abusive women will escalate hate crime instead of leaving it alone. For all the fun made of men who can't deal with rejection, men are very used to it at this point. On the other hand, women, especially educated women with class/race privilege being rejected, can turn out lethally abusive as this case has unfortunately revealed. They are fully aware of the rights and protections endowed on them by law, and soci…

Yes, sexual assault (which was different from the rape law that was passed in 2012 that was rushed and lobbied by Indian feminists to be gender-biased) and 377 could be used to protect or file police charges in cases were men were assaulted by women, by men, or women assaulted by women. Women that have been raped by women also relied on sexual assault as a basic safeguard despite it being a bailable offence, at least it was something. With the Indian Penal Code scrapped on July 1st, that protect…

You must be pretty insane to come to a Left Wing make advocacy page where a man is speaking up about being domestically abused, use an anonymous random profile to discredit him using randomly made up allegations of "sexual assault" with zero proof and evidence, and then expect anyone to take it seriously. And you have mentioned random details like Costco, it's going to be super easy to report you to the police in any country and for them to track it down and cross-verify your claims. If you're l…

Yup, especially considering two stranger men saved his life while his own biological mother was the danger. You can see why some feminists dislike Shivam Patil speaking up, his trauma contradicts everything they project

India's domestic violence, rape, AND sexual harassment laws are all gendered. Not even women abused/raped by other women can get justice. That's how wired it is out there. Male activists have tried to petition the government to make the laws gender neutral, but feminist lobbies resisted and protested against the laws being made gender neutral. Tells you everything right there

That would be a sad film. Something like 'Lion' which starred Dev Patel, based on a true story of a child being abandoned by their parent at a train station.

His IG highlights say that he was being threatened with fake police cases by his abusive female parent. He received a scholarship from a university in Canada and got out before anything else went down. His current updates from Canada seem quite hopeful, the recovery is pretty crazy. It's remarkable how much can change when you are no longer in the environment of abuse and trauma, but I can't imagine the amount of mental health healing this would require for the rest of your life. And the social …

I find it hard to believe anyone can live after that, what quality of life or mental health would a person even have left? It seems Shivam Patil found a way out after being awarded a scholarship from an international university, he's studying in Canada now and starting life all over again

I think the step father died of drug use complications, the biological mother has no income and lives off of other family members that she harasses. Shivam escaped to another country after being awarded a scholarship. Insane story.

I'm so sorry you went through that :/ parental abuse is horrible, especially mothers that are abusers. It has to be the worst form of abuse among all.

Look up @shivampatil90 on Instagram, he's a domestic abuse survivor and Bollywood actor from India who has publicly spoken to male issues, mental health and works in progressive Left movements. Also doesn't hold back punches from critiquing white feminism
