How about just replying with a thumbs up emoji and carry on about your day?

A couple days ago, a woman on Bumble writes me for the first time with, "Cum skiing with me." I called in sick and went skiing that very day. ....turns out English is her 2nd language and what I thought was a flirty pickup was probably a misunderstanding. The skiing was great though!

Good points! When I look back on the couple of LTRs I left, I realize how much better it would have been to break up in the early stages. Yeah it would have hurt if she dumped me when I was infatuated and very interested but it would have saved a lot of time and investment. Rejection can be looked at as dodging bullets.

Initiative doesn't have to involve follow ups after nothing from her

I think the chance is the same whether you follow up or not. She can always get in touch with him.

Yes. Someone told me here that I need to "shoot my shot" instead of texting and being nice in long convos. It has helped.

In order to reply to matches in OLD, you have to pay a subscription fee. I'm not sure I want to pay a monthly fee for something that runs in the background and I only use it for practice and fun. I would prefer to spend my money on things I take more seriously and really have fun doing.

If it is not useful for anything other than as a passive tool you have in the background, then why even use it all.

Mid 40s and got one by holding a girl's hand just to cross an icy parking lot. It's been 6 months since my last date so that's probably why.

In addition to having other hobbies, you shouldn't feel obligated to reveal your plans. I've recently found myself doing this for some reason. Maybe just to keep the text conversation going? Not sure. But I don't think builds any suspense if you do it.

I totally feel this too. But I know I have a few behaviours I'd like to change, if not to find a partner, then to help my work/friend/family relationships. I've learned a lot about my bad behaviours through some reflection after failed relationships. The main one is being a people pleaser. I'm practicing saying no and being more comfortable expressing disappointment or disagreement. But I don't feel like playing any type of game to catch a woman's attention. She needs to like what she sees on a …

That type of woman is getting friendzoned by me, at best.

In the past 2 years, I stopped online dating, starting rock climbing, and lost 30 lbs. I eat better than I ever knew I could. I'm actually kind of surprised at how much easier it is to pursue my dreams now that a woman is not my source of energy.

Maybe it's more statistical? 70% of shitty people don't question if they are shitty. 30% of cool people don't question if they are shitty. Maybe a good thesis proposal. 😉

Good points. But there is such a thing as "the wrong girl for you" type. I feel like I've had some experience with the wrong type. But then I ask myself, "Why haven't you ever been in a relationship with someone that is right for you? Why only wrong ones. Could it be that something is wrong with YOU?" I guess I better get off reddit for a while and contemplate this one.

I chased a girl and finally convinced her to marry me. Turns out, I never stopped chasing her until we broke up. Never chasing ever again.

less than necessary I'm not sure about this but certainly don't say more than necessary. I tend to do that and find out later it's better to only stick to what is necessary a lot of the time.

I've been on a few dates with this girl and I decided to try a compliment about something other than her looks. I told her I really like how thoughtful she is about details. I really appreciated the extra things she brought with her to complement the dinner I bought and she also picked the perfect spot to eat it. I told her that it showed me she put a lot of thought into it and showed me she values our time and I really appreciate it. I also told her it's like a breath of fresh air because she's…

Tell her everything I'm waiting for my "everything" to be fully understood by me because it's really easy for my feelings to get in the way of sound judgment. If I say everything right now, I'd probably be ahead of myself.

I used OLD about 4 years ago and put the bar really low just because I wanted to meet a lot of girls. I ended up in a relationship that wasn't good for me and ended that a year ago. Now I'm on OLD again and this time, I'm being really picky while trying to be realistic and it has been a much better experience. I have been on quite a few really good dates with quality women. I've tentatively narrowed it down to this woman that seems amazing to me and just seeing how it goes for now. Overall, I wo…

Will a hand towel stay on those little hooks though?

Oh shoot I need a hand towel holder before my first visit. Thanks for the advice!

This feels like advice that I really need but I don't want to hear it. I will admit it makes me feel uncomfortable. But every single time I get to this point I realize I have to follow that advice again. And every time I follow it, I get a little more independent. On my current trajectory, I might find my true self in 2-5 years from now. 😉

Teasing is an area you should be very careful with, IMO. Keep it at a bare minimum and don't be afraid to point the joking at yourself.

It seems to me that I probably need to change any destructive behaviors I might be harboring. Other than that, I probably don't need to change. For example, what if I didn't clean up my room or wash my dishes? I could just say, fuck it, this is who I am so deal with it! But if I change my behavior and establish more tidy habits, I would probably be more alluring to people I date.

I suppose there is a balance between getting physical when it's not appropriate (your #1) and then coming out of the shell with ballsy moves.
