Hey man, I really sympthatize with what you're going through, I went through something similar. You don't need a degree to get a job as an engineer, all you have to do is learn how to code, there are startups looking for people like you. There are a bunch of free resources you can use such us udemy.com, freecodecamp.org, codeacademy, and youtube. Once you learn how to code, you will be introduced to other developers and the extra money will take off pressure from your shoulders.

You're still in the one-itis stage, "girls just aren't like her", there are over 3.5 billion women on this planet, the chances of this girl being the "unique one" is 0%. Focus on your goals in life, the women will follow.

I tried this once, and it felt disappointing, at this point I don't even date women, I just get bored and invite one to join me for dinner sometime. However, I know girls with a high SMV and low SMV that I wouldn't date and it has nothing to do with looks. It has to do with their character. This is going to sound harsh, but the reason why most men date down is because they mostly don't have purpose in life, the remaining men date down because it has the best ROI. Some would describe me as wealth…

Yes, I get that do you really want to be with someone who unnecessarily causes you these mental headaches? Trust me man... start dropping expectations now and eventually break up.

If something sounds wrong it's because it probably is... that's your subconsciousness telling you something doesn't add up. Usually, I'd say make it a hard next but OP start dropping any expectations for this relationship now, it won't last.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
