I think I have a hamster moment going on here, I really like this sentence, yet part of me thinks, "But I don't like most of the men in my locale. They're almost all city folk. I love farming, hunting, and raising animals. I have to purposefully try to attract that type of man and go where they would be." What's wrong?

So it really is a beta trait for a man to pursue one woman; I'm curious if it's something they acquire over time by chance or they respond that way when they meet a woman worth pursuing? Should I make a separate post on that or has it been answered somewhere?

Thank you! I've been holding my tongue when I feel the urge to apologize. The struggle is coming up with something else to say, and "thank you" fits well!

I know people who do the poly/open marriage trend. However, they claim they are biologically wired that way; I know one woman who does it in order to have romances with other women, while still having her husband and child, and lets her husband date others as well. She claims to want the best for her child, I only hope she won't expose him to this side of her life...

If a woman develops intense feelings for a man she has never been with, and she is unable to move on, it is just an expression of female nature, even though it is detrimental to long term happiness. This is interesting, I had it the wrong way around. I had thought men would naturally zero-in on a woman and only seek her while she had an interest in many, but now that I think of it the other way I see I was basing that on white knight and feminist images.

Thanks for your response! I wanted to develop social finesse without getting into serious relationships; I want to be good at the get to know each other phase and be more comfortable around men, so I could use this with someone I am attracted to. Right now I feel intimidated by men more often than not and get nervous. At this point the interest I really showed was that I admired this guy's efforts in his activities, and sincerely appreciated support for mine. I like the idea of a supportive frie…

Is it a fear of being corrected or receiving info that may conflict with yours? I don't like conflict either. I feel "stupid" if I perceive I am being corrected or that something I have said is in conflict. It's okay, just an instance of our emotions getting in the way. Men are able to speak more objectively. A real example may be... Woman: "There was a study on 'absolute zero,' researchers kept lowering the temperature and it just became infinitely smaller." Man: "Really? What study was that? I…

I would like this. My problem now in college is that educated men approach me, but they are socially submissive to me while sometimes having the better education or career. They will not make decisions or lead unless I put deliberate effort into handing it over to them-- even then checking if I'm okay with it, seeming too dependent on me. I've been interpreting this as something wrong with me to attract dependent men, but in another thread I was told I will end up attracting more people overall …

All the violence women promote now gets to me. Singers like Kreayshawn talk about cutting off a man's genitals and burning an unfaithful man's house down... If that was said about a woman, poo would hit the fan. All the vines with women holding knives when they talk about their boyfriends doing this or that... In so many movies and shows, it's funny if a girlfriend or wife suddenly becomes dominating and even physically harmful to their male SO. If a show depicted a man suddenly slapping around …

For women who like to say they are for women's benefit, they seem to enjoy tearing other women down... So far it has only happened online that they will full blown rage and hate, I become quieter when women, in person, begin to talk over me aggressively so it does not come to that. I can't actually discuss unpopular topics, at best I find something to agree on or investigate why the person feels the way they do and see if I can talk about it without triggering them. I believe I automatically rev…

There are a few little tricks I've worked out. I spend most of my time on campus or on a farm property, so it's tough being "pretty" when I need to weigh it with practicality... I'm not very dainty either. I like pairing jeans with very simple dresses, something with an animal or foresty print. Add on nice boots or paint your toenails if you don't mind sandals. I love maintaining my nails, even though I get my hands dirty it's fun to spend time on them. So you could try growing yours out just a …

Thank you so much for your advice :) I like sort of mentor relationships, I have a tough time doing small chat and being social with people that I don't have some kind of purpose being with. So far I made a few friends with kids around 15yo from my gaming and farm hobbies, I feel like I'm being a mom in a good way... encouraging them and praising. They're absolutely adorable and it's been a bit of a boost to hear them tell me I'm "cool" and fun to play with on the games (even though I'm not so g…

About the exercise: I find that trying small physical activities throughout the day works better than trying to do the super-structured route. Do as many sit ups as you can, when you can, and then take a break, get back to whatever you were doing. Personally jogging before bed really helps me... you just gotta tell yourself to do an easy goal like up the street and back, instead of a strict time limit. Breaking the jog into 1-2 minute intervals of slower and faster paces worked best for me, inst…

Oh wow, I've thought about weight lifting! Right now I do light body weight exercises like push ups (2 sets of 20), squats (2 sets of 30), and sit ups (2 sets of 25). I'm pretty much a newb to gym stuff though, I used to work outside a lot and carried things up to 60lbs. My shoulders are 4" broader than my hips with more muscle than most guys I meet on campus, I'm fairly lean and, well... I've been mistaken as a young boy when I wore T-shirts and sports bras. I still am more of a country girl, I…

Thank you :) I'm more concerned about how emotionally entangled I become with people than how many sexual partners I might have; I plan on saving it for marriage or at least when engaged. I've had such a negative association with sex that I just tense up really easy... I think it would take a while to build up sexual confidence, and it would have to be with a man I could trust without feeling like I was disappointing him. I can't imagine trying to build that experience without a committed relati…

It's your life take responsibility for it from this moment forward. I definitely agree, I don't want to be a victim or stuck defining myself by my family and past issues. It's been a lot of work balancing out the reality of the situation, and what I need to do about it. For masturbation I sometimes worry that I'm desensitizing myself, maybe I would get used to my hand over time and not be able to enjoy a man later? Sometimes it doesn't feel as enjoyable and is more like a maintenance task. But I…

Thank you for posting! It's good to hear that other people have been through this and made it out alright. Is it a big difference in SMV to be 24 rather than 20? I expect to be out of this situation in the next 2 years, at most 4. I read that the Wall is at 24-25.

I really appreciate your understanding :) Thank you for the subreddit! Being financially stable is important to me, one of the reasons for staying in this place is for the Bachelors degree; I can ride out my scholarship and get support from my parents here. It seems that they're more concerned about convincing me to stay and fear driving me away. I mentioned in another reply that after I stood my ground the last time my father was raging at me, he walked away. I'm determined not to submit to tha…

I'm not able to work much beyond some self employment due to my classes and parents' dependency. I have savings, but being financially independent right now is really tricky. I feel like I'm making a lot of progress here, so as long as things are going this way I will make the best of it. It has the potential to turn bad fast, when that happens I can get support from my sister and extended relatives who know about the situation. I'm still debating how and when exactly to cut off from my parents …

My campus has free mental help services, I voiced my concern about being kicked out while enrolled and they told me they would do their best to help through their programs. I am only going to get my Bachelors and meet my parents' expectations, I wanted to join the coast guard. My parents are primarily opposed to me leaving or joining any law enforcement or military field. I reached out to a few family members and they've offered to give me a place to stay if I do get kicked out, I really trust t…
