Girl I feel your pain. I'm so sorry. EMDR therapy really helped me. I'm still working on it myself as well. As for the thing about trust, one of the things my therapist told me that really hit deep and changed my life, is that trust isn't black or white. it's not the on or off switch that I thought it was, trust comes in levels. It's like a jar of marbles, everyone has their own jar. and you decide how many marbles they get based on their actions and words. You're allowed to trust someone enough…

Thank you!!! I've got "daddy issues" and have always been so paranoid to be seen this way. Fuck that.

I like this. Evolution of man. If FDS keeps growing, maybe eventually all the LVM will breed out? Lol

I was homeless by choice for a long time (vegabonding). It's true, a lot of women I met on the road had been raped. I almost was. But I'm lucky and got away. Instead of sleeping near other random homeless people I would stick with a group of friends. If I was alone I'd sleep at the top flight of stairs of a condo or something, just before roof access. And move every night to a different place.

Right on! A sporty look can be super versatile. I've always leaned more towards a neutral/muted color palette, and somewhat of a post apocalyptic look (nomadic/traveling lifestyle). But recently I've been trying to study fashion a bit more in an attempt to find clothing fits that flatter my body type, and to refine my wardrobe a bit for a more polished look when I'm working. Check out r/femalefashionadvice if you haven't already, their sidebar is incredible!

Strange. What do you call someone who wants to support you in your endeavors, be kind to you, and help share a healthy amount of emotional labor (all of which is reciprocated by you)? A f r i e n d.

Hey girl, take a moment to breathe. Collect yourself, love yourself. Then ask, if men and dating didn't exist, what kinds of things would I like to do with my life? What kinds of new things would I like to try out, or is there anything I've tried in the past I enjoyed, but would like to pay more attention to? Outside of hobbies, is there anything you'd like to improve on in your daily life? For me, I wanted to get really organized. I was tired of having piles of random shit and junk drawers. Aft…

I personally don't really see the point in meeting someone with no intention to talk to them

Food for thought. I've always wondered what family photo albums will look like down the road, now that everything is digital, and filters are often used

I agree with the power dynamic comment, it seems like a way to get you to feel ashamed and to lie out of the bluntness of the question

A round of applause! I should have paid more attention to this in my past relationships. One of my Ex's mom called one day, he yelled at her the whole time for"not doing good enough" for him as a child. He complained to me that his single mother left him in front of the TV too often, and wasn't there for him. When I brought up that she single handedly financially supported the entire family, he said"it doesn't matter, not good enough". Glad I left him, because nothing I did was ever "good enough…

Eh, idk. If that's not up to your standards as to how you would like to have a first date/first meet, tell him you're accustomed to something else. Or tell him you're not interested in a walk if that's not what you want.*** Keep your safety in mind***. A walk can be dangerous for a woman, especially if it's on a trail/secluded. Better to meet in a very public place

I'm doing the exact same thing right now! I used to refuse to shave my legs because "I would rather spend my time doing something else" (also cause fuck the patriarchy), but turns out I just continually overbooked my work week. Now I spend time nurturing my skin as a peace offering to make up for the stress I've caused myself. A light makeup look and paying more attention to fashion has given me 100% boost in confidence. What kinda of fashion/aesthetic have you been interested in lately?

Also "laying there" completely disengaged is a sign of previous sexual trauma. If a man isn't receptive to that and keeps going, he's not worth it.

This is a similar story to my parents. My mom has been chronically ill and bedridden (though she's doing somewhat better now during winters) for 6-7 years. Not once has he left. He even started working more jobs to afford the best quality health care for her. He makes her coffee every morning, dinner every night, gives her neck rubs, pays the bills, cleans, and cares for my younger brother. I can attest that he LOVES her so much. I didn't like him for the longest time until I realized he was act…

What seems off for you? Her tone? I like to consider that this is a mere clip of a longer interview, and that it may have been a frustrating one for her. Considering her past, the interviewers questions might have just pissed her off

That's the entire problem! We don't expect much from them, so when a man shows up with basic hygiene, and buys you flowers once you think you hit the jackpot. Fuck that. I'm starting to realize that for all the effort that I go through to take care of myself physically, and mentally, and grow as a person, I won't settle for anything less than a partner who does the same.

First level up check in after discovering this sub. It's CHANGED. MY. LIFE! I stopped talking to all the men I was wasting time on (good riddance), cut back on overbooking my schedule at work (I used to cry out of stress nearly every night), and started taking better care of myself physically as well. I feel like a queen. Thank you <3

Yep! I saw a post about extending the definition of "gold digger" to people who want you to do all their emotional labor. Seems aplicable here.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
