Hey, come move to my city, I'll show you a few of the ropes. We have a very high number of feminists who will talk to anyone about it and try converting them. We also have pre-hormone therapy trans that dress according to their gender, so are quite obviously trans (easy to tell when someone is trans anyway, in certain cases). Probably not made up, just not something you've ever experienced because of where you live or the people you associate with.

Fallacy fallacy (argumentum ad logicam). The fallacy that because an argument is presented with a fallacy, the point made is false.

I completely lost it at "I tried logic to convince you, but it doesn't seem to fit the 'if A then B' formula, I suppose that's why you can't stand it." That was the most amusing failure of grasping concepts I've seen in a long while.

I'm not sure you read OP's post. He agrees with you in what they should be respected for, and you didn't mention any of the reasons he gave for not respecting them.

Your first point is entirely irrelevant to my questions or my points, and I agree with it to some extent. TRP acknowledges the way things are, and does not want to change it. MRM acknowledges the way things are, and does want to change it. Feminism does not acknowledge the way things are, and wants to change things. In the couple thousand posts and comments I've read on TRP, I have yet to come across any discussion about women being objects or without agency. You still have yet to form any sound…

As far as beta bashing goes, it is highly discussed in TRP and the most prevalent opinion is that it is worthless and should be (and usually is) downvoted to oblivion, because it has nothing to do with being an alpha. Speaking as someone whom they would still consider to be a beta, I don't feel threatened by what they say at all. What they do is explain the way the world works, and give men who want to attract women the tools to do so. You seem to have a personal agenda against TRP, or else are …

By the same measure, you would say that I should attempt to tar and feather feminism, since every feminist I have ever met has attempted to fuck me over for even claiming to have been raped, not even for not joining in on the anti-male circlejerk? To be honest, I get tired of the anti-feminism here, but I'd rather see anti-feminism or anti-mra than anti-women or anti-men, so the mrm is the only choice I really have.

Look up /u/wil, every third or fourth post is an attack on some group or another. To be clear, I've never followed him on social media either, but I've heard plenty of his hypocrisy from side sources (soundly supported) over the years, so I've always been at best on the fence about him, usually just mild dislike for him in general. Having recently seen the video of him talking about bullying to the girl at the comic convention (or whatever it was, I don't fully remember the circumstances) and lo…

The main problem is that he didn't retract it, he seems to be indicating, by not stating otherwise (or acknowledging in any other way), that even though the survey was rigged, the information was accurate. He is not apologizing for trying to perpetuate false information that paints a group of people in the most negative light possible, and in so doing is being a hypocrite.

To be completely clear, I didn't downvote you. I would agree that it is important to keep perspective and not lose sight of the fact that women's issues and men's issues are often intertwined, particularly so that we don't come to the same point that feminism has with improving one group at the cost of the other. So I could be completely wrong as to where the downvotes are coming from, but that was the most logical argument I could think of that someone would use to downvote your comment.

Relevant submissions. If what you're saying is not relevant to the subreddit, it is supposed to be downvoted. Whether or not anyone here agrees with what you're saying, if it isn't relevant, it will get downvoted. While I personally think that what you are saying is relevant, even if wrought with inaccuracy, I can see why it would be seen otherwise, and deserving of downvotes. Honestly, I don't consider that a liberal view, strictly. I understand that liberalism is coming to the same point that feminism did so long ago, where the only ones in the spotlight are so retarded that the only movement being made by the ideology is backwards. I would just like to perhaps have a different label for them than for those of us who want equal treatment for equal circumstance. I'm not saying that they're inherently a worse person. Being misguided or really just having a different view doesn't make you worse (or better). I'm also not saying that you shouldn't encourage children, or anyone. Honesty can come with more helpful encouragement than lying, as per my examples. By setting an age category as your discriminatory factor for lying or not lying about the value of the work they've done does set up an idea that you are doing it "throughout their entire (time period gi…

What benefits would be gained from telling them that their art isn't terrible? If they feel like they've done well enough, why would they want to improve? Also, comparing the work of a person with zero experience to every range of experience is far from objective. If you aren't taking into account the fact that they are a child into your assessment, you are lying in terms of realistic magnitude. Well, saying both that it's average and awful would make one of those statements a lie, so obviously that's not a good thing. Saying that it's average for their age isn't inherently wrong, though, and if that's an extreme case (fixed to not be a lie), I don't see why it should be viewed as a bad thing to be honest. Yes, I always remove my upvotes, not intending to make it look like that, it just bothers me to have all my own posts updated, it messes with my sense of order.

For number 6, I don't see it as exclusively the man's job to provide, just that he does need to provide. Essentially, this is true of both men and women, as not being a productive member of society is a fairly negative trait in any person. (I use society very loosely in this sense) As for the first, I don't think that the long term effects of even small lies are more positive than the long term effects of a "hurtful truth".

It's pretty cute of you guys to be trolling so hard and trying to seem intelligent when you clearly have no concept of it. At least you were a fun waste of time (and I'm sure you've heard that plenty of times before). I suppose that depends on whether we're looking at formal or informal logic, though critical thinking isn't actually a necessity for some degrees. There is a vast difference between conceptualization of a subject and actual reasoning on the subject matters. What do you believe is intelligence? I feel that your definition has much lower standards than mine, so if we could get on the same page, maybe you would have an easier time understanding me, since you claim to be struggling with it.

I know, I never claimed that this sub was completely clean. All too often I see the same thing here, and that's why I rarely come around, the only reason I'm subscribed is for the news posts that most often make it to the frontpage, and occasionally come in to look for places like this to clarify points. If the worst it has to offer is in the top five posts within eight hours, and hasn't been removed by mods, then yes, we should judge them for that. Calling someone a sucker for choosing to sell their jeep for a minivan because it's better for their family is pretty much defining bigotry. There are some valid points made there, just like any subreddit, but in the majority it is a farce, and it should be shown as such.

While most of the posts are particularly resentful, I don't mind that. What I find problematic is that one of the top four specifically breaks one of their bannable rules about not being bigoted. And it has been up for eight hours. Either that's poor modding, or just poor quality of people, and realistically a bit of both.

You apparently don't get my point on the judges, because what I said was that their decision is sexist toward both genders. Your sister tried to make it purely about women, which is ignoring half the problem. I personally know a number of women in the infantry, and a number who worked their asses off to not have to be in the infantry because they didn't want to be on the frontlines. So unless you're not talking about american army infantry, you're lying.

a) women choose not to be in combat roles. b) considering that judges are required, by law, to not take race, religion, gender, philosophy, et c. into consideration except in cases where it would be damaging to the child, viewing women as a superior caretaker is sexist toward both men and women, undervaluing men and overvaluing women. Men's rights is not "the Men's rights movement". He can just as easily be saying: "Women's rights is about equal rights. If you oppose women's rights, you oppose equal rights." The figures from the report represent a mixture of data collected by the CIA World Factbook[1] and national self-reported data. I admire your faith in humanity, but it is sadly misplaced. Most american's can't spell the city they live in accurately, and in addition, people often use stock photos rather than their own to try to garner more empathy. She is, as far as I can tell, trying to say that feminism, through their attempts at broadening the definition of rape to the point where women can claim that drunk seduction is rape, is trivializing the actual rape that goes on, as many people are starting to question whether the women who say they were raped were in fact harshly molested and scarred or just regretting something dumb that they did.

While OP is a little excessive and far too generalizing in his comment, it does still stand that some women abuse the power they have in their attractiveness, just as some men do. I would like to point out that you say that being nice to other people is something that should be expected from everyone, yet you say that the women he is talking about bein…

How do you know he followed her? Who actually said that he was following? Was it the female? Anyone outside of himself saying that he was following her doesn't seem to me like a credible source for that kind of information, unless you're talking from a point of paranoia, in which case everyone who has been using the same path you have for any significant period of time would seem to be following you. From your original post about the intent of the person setting up the objects to seem threatenin…

That are totally his fault because one way or another his daughter will never have her real father due to her mother's actions. And she'll never be capable of understanding that simple logic, because like every other person in the entire universe, she's too stupid for common sense. Am I getting close to the gist of your argument here?

That's somewhat understandable, and I agree with busting the myths that are often used to glorify and justify doing it to children, but saying it has benefits has never really sit well with me, because it seems more like you're looking down on people who have it done "because there's scientific proof it's better not to". I do understand that there will statistically be some that act that way, but I have seen it in at least a third of the comments on any thread involving this situation, and that …

Not within the discussion we've just had, and most mras that I've seen talking about it or talked to about it tout the values of having uncircumcised over circumcised, and spout off research that has been done, as though that explains why people should never have it done. Not to say that you are necessarily one of those types, but that's what I've seen in others, and it does disturb me, which was the point I was trying to make.
/r/MensRights27/01/12 05:56 PM

So you completely ignored my point that I don't approve of it for babies. You only see that my points make circumcision not look so bad, and assume I'm for doing it on babies, right?

So you are implying that because other people have a problem with female circumcision, I do as well? I'm not discriminating, here, you're not even bothering to get the full story before jumping to the conclusion that I'm against you and what you stand for. Please stop this.

That's my point, you can do all the research you want, but I'm proof that those studies aren't comprehensive. You are the kind of person I'm pointing out in men's rights who don't think things through cohesively before rushing to defend your point.

Personally, I find most mras to be extraordinarily sensitive and hyperbolic when it comes to the "virtues" of being uncircumcised. While I don't agree with doing it to a newborn child, I don't think that the clinical basis for all of their facts are particularly accurate nor are they poignant. I have never had an issue with sensitivity in that region, unless in the extreme, so to have more feeling would likely make me orgasm every ten seconds while I have any material rubbing against them. I'm f…

I don't think this image pertains to mens' rights, although the article is obviously an issue. A link to the article would probably have been a better choice to make your point, in my opinion.

Get RES, I unupvote all of my comments. Also, do you identify as a FTM when referring to gender, or do you start off by saying you're male? The confusion can often make one more defensive about their position in the middle of a discussion, as it can be seen as you attempting to deceive them to make your own point. Another point is that it is unfortunately true that society at large views TG as something to be afraid of, and as such there are likely to be more people who are intolerant of those w…

You must not be paying much attention to this fine gentlewoman. We are, by and large, very accepting of all genders in this subreddit, provided that you aren't belittling the issues we wish to raise awareness of, though of course there are those who are extremist here, just as everywhere else.

The best thing western feminism could do is to encourage women to behave better. Or what? We'll start stoning them again? You don't seem to understand the meaning of the word "encourage". It is possible to show women the positive impacts of behaving better and the negative impacts of not doing so in order to encourage them, and no physical aggression is necessary. Why is it that someone making a comment in here "must" be looking to harm females rather than trying to build an open understanding a…

I would just like to point out that every post that you have made in this thread seems to have been pointed toward picking apart anything that you can find as fallacy in any argument that is made against your biases, regardless of how much they hold logical bases or provide some proof to counter claims that you have made, and I would like to provide this link, that was recently given to me, for your consideration, should you choose to desire more critical thinking.

I refuse to believe the assertion that ANY woman can destroy ANY man's life It is what you were talking about with this particular person. Just thought I'd point out that you are using miscommunication as a platform for others being "illogical in their discussions". Pay a little more attention to what you have said, and people might be able to appreciate your message more.

First, neither side is proving the other guilty or innocent, just telling what they saw happened, and based on the way they went about that, I feel that the moderator was in the right. I don't see any correlation between that mindset and innocent until proven guilty or guilty until proven innocent. Re-posting something should be an issue, because the original poster can take down his own post on a whim, whilst he can't remove someone else's post without help from a moderator. I agree that you sh…

You, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. So much so that there needs to be a nobel prize category for it simply so that you can win it. It's amazing to see someone so powerful in who they are, and so in touch with themself. So thank you for sharing that. However, I would like to point out that not everyone is so lucky, and that sometimes the issues that are crippling are stacked high enough to be impossible to overcome, or at least to do such and be happy with yourself. In light of such, I would…

I would just like to say thank you to whichever moderator did this, as from the story given by both sides, I feel that nnn was in the wrong. I don't want to seem like I'm insulting him, but the new account "he/she" made has put up nothing solid as proof that he didn't do anything wrong, and even reposting someone's personal information should be an issue. tl;dr moderator seems to be right, good on him/her

It doesn't matter who the biological parent is, unfortunately. If they can take your child, they can take your child, regardless of who you are. Even if you do go to the police, it is not guaranteed that your child won't be back in custody of the abusive parent, which you can see from many of the stories that are found and forwarded to this subreddit, if you only looked. If the world were perfectly unassuming and everyone were treated with equality, it would be a mark of a shitty father to not t…

Sometimes you can't without being persecuted, that's the point. There are laws that, with social prejudices, protect women in the case of child "ownership", and thus the father would be kidnapping, and would be arrested, and the child would still be returned to the abusive parent.

Except when protecting that child leads to you being unable to protect that child. Then it takes a stronger man to step down and do the little things for the child than to stand up to the (likely) power-hungry wife that he made the mistake of marrying.

I'm not certain the exact medical condition for this case, however my mother had a hysterectomy for a minor cyst, not recommended by the doctor, for the fact that she no longer wanted children after my brother and myself. I don't mean to say that all women will make this choice, but if they don't, I can easily see how this can be interpreted as a sign that the woman may be cheating. It could be instead that she fears the accompanying risks, but that doesn't mean you should assume that she is, es…
