| 1 | Are women owed marriage? No. There's no reason you can't just do common law. Rings and weddings are too expensive and too silly. That said - if your S/O wants marriage and you don't you need to have a non-judgmental conversation and see if a compromise can be reached. You're in a partnership don't forget that so give and take should be expected. If it really is something that breaks a relationship then in no way should either of you take it out on the other as these are due to very personal preferences and beliefs. | /r/MensRights | 01/12/22 09:23 PM |
| 1 | According to the Atlantic, we should unite with, not oppose feminists when trying to fight for men's rights.>we're done here Cool, I'll just respond anyway because why not? First off, the 2nd link I responded with goes into the explanation pretty well on percieved ownership. But let me just lay out what happened so when you come back and feign fake victimhood. The first thing you quoted was in direct response to how you described our common use of language. That argument was reductive when I've demonstrated with elaboration and a link to another source that the language we use is intentional and does … | /r/MensRights | 30/10/22 11:57 PM |
| 0 | According to the Atlantic, we should unite with, not oppose feminists when trying to fight for men's rights.Welp, this was deluded. Alrighty - here we go. > People express ownership of other people all the fucking time in multiple ways. We aren't talking about what a person is in relation to another. We're talking about people being perceived as property as someone else. Again, anyone just needs to take a trip through the last 100-150 years to see the evolution of outright "you belong to me" to a more subtle version of this. Again, you're being reductive. About that article, I appreciate the author de… | /r/MensRights | 30/10/22 08:51 PM |
| -1 | According to the Atlantic, we should unite with, not oppose feminists when trying to fight for men's rights.so no, you get a downvote. Sure. Suppose I’ll cry about that later. Labelling these things as just “crime” is missing the point. You’re not wrong but you’re missing the point. Generally speaking male attitudes towards women are that of ownership. Think of any discourse when it comes to other groups of people. On trans people in sports “think of how unfair it is for women in sports.” On trans people in bathrooms “think of all the gross creepy men assaulting our women!” On immigrants or other non-… | /r/MensRights | 30/10/22 04:34 PM |
| -4 | According to the Atlantic, we should unite with, not oppose feminists when trying to fight for men's rights.Regardless of when the article was written, it’s definitely correct. The current patriarchal structure affects men as well as women. Women definitely receive the worst aspects of it. Not all feminist theory seeks to blame men as a collective. Much feminist theory sees oppression as a structural issue and equality /equity needs to be achieved for all. To be honest the amount of women who want to see men become subservient are very few. Most commentary about how bad men are is in regards to shit w… | /r/MensRights | 30/10/22 11:33 AM |
| 5 | When talking about consent— Why doesn’t the discussion extend to consent to have my child. That’s rape. If you’re raped you shouldn’t have to raise or support the kid. | /r/MensRights | 26/10/22 11:48 PM |
| -1 | When talking about consent— Why doesn’t the discussion extend to consent to have my child. You can argue that society has in some areas minimized men without being against women in some way. | /r/MensRights | 26/10/22 11:48 PM |
| 4 | When talking about consent— Why doesn’t the discussion extend to consent to have my child. If you knowingly and consensually did something that caused another to happen you are responsible therefore not a victim. Simple as that. | /r/MensRights | 26/10/22 11:45 PM |

| -6 | When talking about consent— Why doesn’t the discussion extend to consent to have my child.Yes I could imagine saying that to a woman. I’ve had these discussions many times about pregnancy prevention. It’s a two way street one where we both have the responsibility in what we do. At least in Canada either parent has to pay child support. The father gets custody and the mother doesn’t? She pays child support. If the mother surrenders the child the father can have custody of them and the mother will need to pay child support. Source for both these: The Divorce Act (Canada). So don’t feed… | /r/MensRights | 26/10/22 11:35 PM |
| -1 | When talking about consent— Why doesn’t the discussion extend to consent to have my child. This is the risk we run when we engage in sex. Should we have more easier available options to prevent pregnancy? Yes definitely. But we should never expect that we have the right to demand an abortion or to opt out of supporting raising a child in some way. Do condoms suck? Hell yes. Is the Snip intimidating? 110% yes. Is the pull out and timing preventions easy to pull off every time? Nope. We should be demanding more prevention methods not shirking responsibility. | /r/MensRights | 26/10/22 11:24 PM |
| -7 | When talking about consent— Why doesn’t the discussion extend to consent to have my child.Oh jeez you and everyone else here is serious…. Ok a few things: You run the risk of pregnancy every time you have sex. Don’t like the risk then take your own precautions, women do it so should you. Abortions aren’t a simple fun process you just do on a weekend because you can. This shit has a lot of emotional and moral implications for anyone involved in the process. Losing the potential of a child is scarring. If you could look at a woman and say “yeah no I don’t give you consent to have this … | /r/MensRights | 26/10/22 10:47 PM |
| 1 | Just... Oh God.Assuming this is true. I really want this person to look a WW2 Veteran in the eyes and say that. Like tell them what they went through is not traumatizing when the BS a woman experiences is so much more. I've worked with way to many veterans, many of whom broke down in tears in front of me to see this shit and not comment on it. You know, no matter how far along in life they are, they always remember. They never. Ever. Forget. The live the horrors they saw most if not every day of their lives. | -3 | Good little boys, not hitting women. You know, downvote me to hell but, I love this video. I saw this as kids who are typically portrayed to be immature doing the mature thing and not hitting someone back in a non-defensive manner. So, what does it say when an adult who are supposed to be mature hits a woman. One of the last lines where the kid states something along the lines of MEN don't hit women is a brilliant symbolic device. Here's a kid who is not a man telling you what he thinks a man should be and then in turn implicitly s… | /r/MensRights | 07/01/15 05:58 AM |
