Oh yeah it’s not a “left” or “right” problem by any stretch. Nor is it a “Millennial snowflake” problem, old people are sometimes even worse. I’m really hoping someone will coin a name for it. There’s got to be some way other than “tribal” to describe people who seek to insulate themselves from anyone unlike them AND also make disingenuous strawman characterizations of everyone not in agreement. It’s like a cult mentality but much more sinister, because it isn’t about what they believe. Its abou…

Yeah on a small scale it’s no big deal. It’s just an example of a much larger problem with the internet more general. Fragile egos unable to have contact with anyone who might possibly have ever been maybe kinda sorta around the general area of an opinion they disagree with. XX claims it stands “for women” when really it’s just a super small subset of people who think they speak for a broader group. Not saying it’s ONLY them or like minded groups who do so, it’s an internet problem more generall…

They ban everyone who posts in “hate subs” It’s not the content of the post that matters it’s that you now have a tangential relationship with a “hate sub” therefore you’re deemed a danger to their community. Aka they suck

That’s best thing I’ve read all day. You win the Reddit for August 18th 2019

What boggles my mind is that they haven’t pivoted to a new argument that might actually hold a little more water, or at least be less easy to disprove. Instead of just claiming that sexism is why they aren’t paid more they could make the claim more similar to: unfortunately for women to have a mass audience they must be somewhat conventionally attractive. Just look at Susan Boyle versus Post Malone for example, Susan is EXTREMELY talented but not the kind of person you can imagine being a star i…

You’re not wrong about the general pattern but in this case if I was a prosecutor I wouldn’t bother. Ag. burglary is a really serious charge and the vandalism is super easy to prove. That’s an open shut case all the evidence is clear cut, she broke in and she broke things. Ladies and gentleman you have no choice but to convict. With an assault charge all of their interactions with each other are now able to be admitted as evidence. Do you think she will admit to hitting him? Of course not! She’s…

She was charged with aggravated burglary, which in the state of Tennessee is what they call home invasion. She should have gotten some sort of assault charge as well though, but you never know how that might play out. They charged her with the things that are easy to prove. Camera watched her break inside, lots of shit broken. Aggravated burglary + felony vandalism.

If a man wrote that article in 2019 he would get so much hate on Twitter that Forbes would have to fire him. None of what was said is controversial for the vast majority of women. Our ability to talk about the realities of life has taken a serious turn in the direction of appeasing the citizens of Crazyland.

The only problem I have with this is some people I’d almost rather them rot in prison for their crimes. Instead of getting the easy way out. Although I wouldn’t mind allowing people who have true life sentences (either actual or effective like a 50 year @ age 60) and know they are never getting out to ask to be executed. Fent + Ativan or Versed will kill anyone with zero “cruel and unusual” opposition. They just fall asleep and never know they die, it’s super cheap and very effective; only down …

I have a very similar stance. 100% support the death penalty but I’m opposed to the way it is currently implemented. If you can show me a way to make sure that only the truly worst of the worst (not just the poor with bad lawyers) and that we can be sure no innocent people are wrongly convicted then Id be 100% down. Hopefully as technology progresses we can find a way to make this happen.

I don’t disagree. Most of the people I know are in that exact category. That’s why I think we should focus on what to do about the 90+whatever% that are from lack of responsibility instead of having the distraction of hard cases. But fundamentally I don’t think anything will change unless we have a generation come up that is honestly willing to take responsibility for their actions. But that might be moralizing a little too much, ugh I’m turning into an old man now that I’m not young and stupid …

Honestly I don’t think your idea is a bad one, I haven’t thought about that specifically but it seems rather reasonable. I’ll have to find some more information on the ins and outs of that perspective. If you have any articles or something send them to me. I think that “hard cases” are a huge distraction in the whole debate. According to planned parenthood most abortions are performed early on, usually not long after the woman is positive she is pregnant. Most of the time it’s because the woman …

Just FYI it’s not always a religious argument based on the soul concept, although that’s a common one. Im not trying to attack you, if it comes off that way then it’s due to a poor choice of wording on my part. The secular pro-life argument is that a fetus should be treated as a natural person because if the natural course of life is uninterrupted then that fetus will become an infant child. So under that theory it’s almost impossible to draw a before/after line for when an abortion should be al…

I’m not OP but I’m sorry that you’re receiving some personal attacks, you seem like a genuine person who really does want to do the right thing. I feel for you cause I often find myself in a similar position fighting a similar/related battle. It’s unfortunate that a movement (or at least the label for it) that has accomplished so much has become corrupted. Like a number of other things, like what real liberalism is (which is my similar issue) movements to bring equal rights are often victims of …

He’s one of those idiots who thinks the only reason to be pro-life is cuz Juzus said so. Ummm no actually... there’s a science reason besides there being a non-religious morality reason as well. Plus I’m sure a number of other reasons I’m not thinking of at the current time. But it’s just soooo much easier to assume everyone who disagrees with you is a religious nutjob. Usually crazy people assume other people are just as crazy as they are.

I didn’t disagree with you. I’m honestly not going to say I know enough about the high level academic discussion of the topic to say really anything with a level of certainty. But it would seem to me that as an individuals motivations for consensual sex can vary so could the motivations for rape. It would probably be dangerous to reduce a complex violent taboo act down to a simple “it’s about power”. The world tends to be more complex than that, so color me skeptical that it’s really just that s…

Probs because you used the phrase “feminist concept”. Some might mistake you for meaning “only feminists believe rape exists”. When you’re actually making a very different argument about the source of the motivation, of which there are many factors and theories.

Well technically that’s true but this guy certainly doesn’t know anyone who did that. Plus lying on the application is fraud as you say so legally their citizenship doesn’t actually exist. Gains from fraudulent activity aren’t legally recognized. This dude is just saying shit out of his ass to sound like he knows something. Being charitable he might have confused green care or other legal status with citizenship.

But all differences are discrimination!!! The patriarchy forces these women to make these choices by enculturation from a young age to be dependent and submissive to men!!! brb I’m gonna dye my armpits pink, shave my head and burn my bra

10% is not very likely. 5% is a really solid assumption, 7% is average. The last decade has been really good except for the 08 crash; it’s not normal historically. It’s driven by artificially low interest rates and federal stimulus packages that boost earnings and lower corporate taxes. It’s also unsustainable, the isn’t real wage growth to support these numbers. There will be a correction in the next 2 years. Or the day Muller finds wrong doing by DT (if it exists). Also with gas prices on the …

I think part of the problem is that we as a society practice punitive instead of restorative justice. We no longer believe that it’s enough to just simply set matters straight when wrongs are committed, we also seek to punish the person beyond the wrong committed. This deep desire for vengeance seems appropriate at the individual level but it’s creates massive problems at the level of society. When taken to the societal level we now only exchange one set of victims for a new set of “proper victi…

Ah yes the classic “I don’t need no man” but I sure as hell will cash those child support and alimony checks. “Btw can you get this thing off the top self for me?” “Are there any good men out here that will change my oil for me so that I don’t have to pay for regular maintenance on the car I took from my baby daddy because children” “Oh you think you don’t have to be nice to a woman fuck You!” “Why are you treating me like I can’t do things for myself?”

So was my mother. Graduated with multiple honors from a large University in 1973. Two masters degrees and 30 years of public service in Education. Never once did she tell me “how hard it is for women these days” she knew what it was like to actually have real oppression and that people who believe women arent equal today in America just don’t want to work for their rewards. They just want things handed to them, and that’s not what America is about. 50 years ago you could make the claim that even…

OP is right, that’s exactly what the originator of that saying was talking about. The version that goes around now talking about customer service is a perverted and incredibly twisted retelling.

So true and it’s because those sayings have been taken and run with so far they lost all meaning. “The customer is always right” doesn’t mean “let everyone be assholes to workers” it means whatever the customer wants to buy is the product you should sell. Never hit a woman now has become “I have to let women abuse me”
