I'd like to think that I admonish racism from whomever and wherever it sources. Do I see racism in Australia? Sure. Do I see reverse-racism in Australia? Sure. Do I think both are equally stupid and you cannot condemn an entire nation of people based upon your limited exposure to them? Absolutely. Now, do I think it's completely daft to generalize about a people's tendencies based upon what the land was first settled for? It's a silly caricature. Race is a social construct (and is essentially given whatever meaning we decide to give it) and without splitting hairs over semantics of the word, it's bigotry. Your generalizations only serve to make you look like a moron.

I thought it was an interesting story, with the exception of the fucking asinine conclusion drawn from the few Aussies he's had contact with. Particularly when you consider how many of the original settlement were petty thieves (stealing things like loaves of bread) leaving behind poverty, and how few Australians are actually descendants from convicts, I think that was just about the stupidest thing I've read all week. Thanks for ruining the story with unnecessary racism.
