Hi OP, I'm a newbie at the gym but have had a good 12 months there; enough to understand what I'm doing and not injure myself on the big boy weights. However, as noted from your post, still a lot for me to learn. My goal is hypertrophy. So going by your post and information, I need to be doing 15 or so reps, rather than my 6-8? I currently do 6-8 with as much weight as I can take. Why is this - is this because the muscle needs to be made to reach failure after having done 15 or so reps?
