I love this. Thanks for sharing! It’s so true that it’s difficult to determine who someone will be after graduation when you’re dating them in college. My college BF seemed ambitious and intelligent when we were dating in college. He graduated before I did, and as soon as he graduated he moved back home with his wealthy parents and didn’t bother getting a job. I later found out that he never actually obtained a degree because he flunked most of his classes. I know a lot of young women who droppe…

I’m a huge fan of Mad Men. The first few episodes are tough to get through, but the show has a lot of complex female characters and storylines. I think it’s one of the few TV shows (maybe the only TV show) that honestly portrays how most straight men view and treat women, and how damaging it is to women. There’s an episode in Season 4 titled “The Summer Man” that shows blatant sexism in the workplace. Although the show takes place in the 60s, most of these types of scenarios still happen today.

Your experience was awful. I am so sorry this happened to you! When I was in my early 20s, I once saw a doctor because of digestive problems and the doctor began asking really awkward personal questions like why I was unemployed, why I wasn’t in school, why I wasn’t in a relationship. It was none of his business. He then began giving me “the talk” about unsafe sex and pregnancy, like I was a middle schooler. It was really awkward. Like what does this have to do with my digestive issues?!

I have a pick me friend who has been dating a jobless middle aged drug addict who has no car and lives in a halfway house. My friend is gorgeous, in her early 20s and works as a professional model. She comes from a wealthy family with Hollywood connections. It’s very obvious to me that her boyfriend is using her for money (she buys him everything and drives him everywhere). She has completely changed since she began dating him. She used to be an independent thinker and a Democrat but now she has…

It’s not about what they say, it’s about what they DON’T say. Last relationship I was in, I told the guy that I cared about him and his response was “thanks”. Another guy I dated, I told him that I enjoyed spending time with him and he had no response. Don’t make excuses for this type of behavior. Men are perfectly capable of sharing their feelings - they just choose not to tell you that they like you / care about you / love you etc. because that’s not how they feel!

This is 100% accurate. All of these things happened to me in my last relationship that turned out to be emotionally / physically abusive. Pay attention to red flags!!!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
