It is so hard to be the asshole...My kids mother gave me so much grief over the years that when I got sole custody, I put all the child support I received from her into 529s for the kids, since I really didnt need the money. Ended up with over 120k and was able to fully fund their college expenses. Its not about being an asshole, it's about focusing on the children and smile. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/26 02:38 AM
14 hours in 50 DaysI'm sure you are talking about Our Family Wizard. I had that too. My journal included phone calls (dates, how long, if answered), notes about visitation, was she on time or late, what the kids said, etc. Being late for appointments and exchanges is a red flag. Violations of court orders. As a rule, if it isn't written down, it didn't happen. In the end, since she was using the sheriff's department to file false abuse reports, I was able to go back to the same deputies and file complaints against… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/05/26 01:38 AM
14 hours in 50 DaysIt is so stressful to have to live like that. I totally remember those days. The feeling that you are being set up to lose your temper or to have to make the decision to give up for your own health and sanity and hope you can reconnect later down the line. In my situation, I was constantly being accused of abusing my children by their mother. I think it was a total of 8 referrals to DCFS. I never missed a visitation or an appointment and all the accusations came back as unfounded. Even the GAL s… | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/05/26 09:03 PM
My daughter told the gal I hit herIf you have a GAL, then it is probably not an amicable coparenting situation. Having my own kids tell people that I hit them, lock them in a dark room for hours, lock them in the garage, dislocated their arm by grabbing them, feeding them pizza, sending them back to their mother with sand in their shoes and even tell the police that I threw them off the roof. All because they thought doing so would make their mom happy and tell her what they thought she wanted to hear. Create a detailed journal … | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/05/26 05:35 PM
If you have children, do you wish your Ex a “Happy Mother’s Day “ ?Of course I do!! Just to remind her that she still owes me 40k in court sanctions against her that she never paid. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/05/26 10:38 PM

Court-ordered custody evaluationI have been through two custody evaluations. I wish I could tell you that there is a consistency in what they look for. I found that some have their own biases and yes they talk to the children separately too. They ask you about how you were disciplined as a child, like huh?. The first evaluator recommended primary custody to mom and made me jump through a bunch of hoops to gain more time. The second evaluator was ordered by the court after mom continuously made accusations that I was abusing th… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/05/26 02:38 PM
Have any guys lost custody of their kids but got 50/50 later? How long?I'm sorry to hear that your daughter went through so much. I can relate, since one daughter still has lingering episodes of ptsd even after years of therapy. She would break down crying for unexplained reasons and develop separation anxiety. Found out later that mom used to take them to church and force them to pray to never see their dad(me) again. Eventually a court ordered evaluator issued a Tarasoff warning against mom and a deputy and social services were sent to remove the girls from her c… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/04/26 09:27 PM
Have any guys lost custody of their kids but got 50/50 later? How long?I know everyone's case is different. It was a long and difficult road to get to a resolution. I had to fight for overnights in the beginning and jump through hoops because a custody evaluator with "tender years doctrine" beliefs was assigned to the case. Eventually I only got 20% custody, but mom thought that was too much and began a campaign to eliminate me from my kids' life. The kids were like property to her and it led to her becoming extremely possessive and vindictive. Really a tough time.… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/04/26 01:12 PM
700 pleadings, 12 years, and i won full custody with 364 overnights per yearIt is such a rarity to get sanctions. After near financial ruin, i was just glad for it to end. I never got the full amount but the most important thing was that if she tried any more bs filings, i could respond with a contempt of court response and squash anything she might try. Sad how the courts think that everyone will act rationally for the best interests of the children. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/03/26 12:45 AM
700 pleadings, 12 years, and i won full custody with 364 overnights per yearCongratulations!!! I posted my story a year ago. Multiple accusations of me abusing my daughters because mom was forcing them to lie tö their teachers, the police, and anyone who would listen. I was on the verge of losing everything until the judge of the case I was being charged in asked for an intensive investigation. The court evaluator declared a Tarasoff warning and declared that the girls were in immediate danger from mother and the sheriff was dispatched to remove them from her custody. | 3 | Emergency court date tomorrowI dont understand why you are not asking for child support. I have sole custody of my two daughters and the child support i received was put into a 529 college account for their college expenses. By the time they needed it there was over 120k in there and it paid for their college. My youngest just got her nursing degree and started her career towards an incredible future without student loans. Child support is for the children. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/11/25 05:51 PM
Five Years of Nonstop Custody Battles Drained My LifeI feel your pain. I was on standing on the cliff of just giving up. Emotionally i was spent and the continued accusations and lies were literally destroying me. Eventually, i was able to win 20k in court sanction against her and awarded custody of my daughters. If she had been able to continue for a couple of months more, i would have given up. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/11/25 03:10 AM
One day before divorce is finalized another allegationThere is no magic cure for what you are experiencing. I wish there was. Even though i ended up with sole legal and physical custody in the end and mom got charged and convicted of emotinal and phychological abuse, it took somewhere around 8 allegations by her to get to the truth. You can find my story in my posts. One thing you have to do is create a detailed journal and stick it out as long as you can. Unsubstantiated allegations work in your favor. The hardest part for me was to keep my emotio… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/11/25 05:44 AM
529 plan instead of child support?Your ex is just plain selfish and on a child damaging ego trip. I didn't need their mother's child support money either, so I deposited it into a 529 account for them for their future. When it was time for college, they had about 140k in that account. The youngest just graduated with a BS in Nursing and older graduated in 2024 with a BS in Computer Science. Both were summa cum lade. Child support is for the children and your ex doesn't seem to understand that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/25 12:43 AM
Stbx refusing overnightsI went through this nonsense in CA too. Nothing ever happens immediately. The courts just assume that everyone coparent according to the best interests of the children. It doesn't always work that way. What it took was to document everything, use Family Wizard for communications, and do whatever it took to never lose your temper. I had numerous copies of the court order made up so I always had one near me. Mom tried everything to limit access including numerous reports to DCFS. She even had me c… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/10/24 11:08 PM
