As a former elite coxswain, I’m here for you and your rowing glory days! So many HVW in the sport, so not surprised to see other ladies from the world of rowing coming to FDS.

One thing I've learned is that HVW come into your life in a variety of ways, one of which is working in a supervisory capacity. It's great that she knew exactly how to handle the situation in which you found yourself at the time. We really have to hand it to our HV female mentors, bosses, and older friends. <3 they'll be there for you when most men won't.

Before I discovered FDS, I used to have this idea that I had to wait to be in a relationship to live the kind of life I wanted (with cooking, nice dinners out, hiking, etc.). The pandemic and forced isolation we've collectively endured made me take all of these interests and turn them into hobbies of my own! Now I often make myself (or maybe one other close friend) a very extensive meal, such as Marcella Hazan's homemade Bolognese sauce or authentic hand-folded dumplings. I take hiking seriously…

I used to bond with a longtime friend mine (with whom I entered a long-distance "situationship") over our shared love of regional gastronomy, cooking, celebrity chefs, etc. The one time we were able to hang out in person, at the very end of a nature walk, he mentions: "I can't wait to try your cooking sometime soon." That...pisses me off. The only thing men can think of is leveraging your shared interests to benefit them or to ask you to do something for them ON THE FIRST REAL DATE.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKlv4pZe-zo&t=83s "Alurn" fake ad by SNL; maybe not applicable to all scenarios, but helpful nonetheless

I kid you not, I was seeing a guy who, after having sex maybe 7 times, had never once attempted to give me pleasure. I brought this up to him and told him that I would like to orgasm as well, and he said VERBATIM, "Oh, I don't want this to be a tit for tat thing." Dumped his ass right after. Fuck that.

As someone who has gone to various therapists in the past and now invests on the side, finding the right financial advisor for you is akin to finding a therapist. Discussing money matters, personal circumstances, and financial goals is often a personal thing for many, so don't settle for an advisor that talks down to you. You're employing their services, after all.

We hold onto the lies we’re forced to internalize to perpetuate and uphold the patriarchy! We are told to cater to LVMs’ every whim because women are told they’re “incomplete” without a man in there lives, even if they get the entirely short end of the stick and no benefits from their “casual relationship.”

Yes! Start living the life you dream of now (with all of the hard work and balance that implies) without waiting for someone else to show up and “allow” you to do it. You deserve it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
