Yes, once there was a bias toward employing men over women, that's true. Nowaday it's the opposite. Companies are bending head over heels to get more women working for them in these areas.

Never said IRL. I meant that there's plenty of them online, but I've never heard anyone say what I did online or offline. Sure, there's not many girls in engineering, but that doesn't mean that people are denying the fact that they are engineers. It just means that people might be a bit surprised when they find a CE girl for example. Surprised != In denial. Edit: word.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't encourage women, but we're doing it at the expense of boys/men right now. The US does it with all the educational programs for girls/women to teach them programming for example. In Sweden they let girls and women go to different tech events for free. There's a constant social media push where they highly encourage women to seek these fields as well. On top of that you have pretty much all tech companies screaming for more women to join them. This makes their applications for jobs more values to an employer than men's applications.

That's exactly what is happening at the moment. There are schools that will ONLY teach girls/women in order to get them into STEM fields. There is huge global push for girls and women, meanwhile boys and men are forgotten about. Even though less men make it out of college and a lot of them end up in shitty and dangerous jobs, nearly all resources are spent on women.

I've seen quite a bit of IT job postsings that only allow women to apply. It's crazy that the few women who's in this field has it so easy compared to everyone else. Companies are totally fine with being sexist just to hire them.

Well put. It was a very strong scene and the movie would be weird without it. If it was the other way around I think they would have had the man break furniture and going into depression instead of hitting the woman. Eventually he would have accepted his situation.

And that's exactly what we're asking Google to do. They do it for women, so why not for men? Isn't it an important issue that many of the world's most powerful companies from a social marketing aspect are ignoring men but promoting women? What kind of signals does that send to the public?
