Why is the second one misandry? It specifically says that we should stop looking at abuse as a gendered issue. Is it “Boys are the biggest liability to victimized mothers” line? If so it isn’t used to say that it is men’s fault that they are a liability, it is the system that fucks the mother over for having a boy.

Aren’t the comments of the posts mostly in favor of letting boys in to DV shelters?

The intention is there sometimes but more often than not it is used to incite gender wars and as a cheap insult. You can see this when women use “You are the reason why women choose bear” against someone who was questioning their decision. Or you can see women also getting mad when the argument is made against them.

Yeah that seems to be a study that is cited numerous times, unfortunate.

I doubt it, there are lots of male pick mes who say this shit. If anyone says women are weaker they are considered sexist, except when they use it to dismiss violence from women.

What’s this from? Any source? Is it from a credible author or cited frequently? Not doubting the misandry in domestic violence research, I’m just trying to see how deep it is.

I don’t get it, isn’t a go bag something that goes beyond abuse? It is for emergencies, abuse is only one of the many scenarios. Granted I never read the first post but having a go bag doesn’t seem like that huge of an issue for me unless the wife’s reasoning was “I made it just in case you might hurt us one day”.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/05/24 03:07 AM

That scenario is probably made up as well. If he asked “What kind of man?” and “What kind of bear?”then the answers he would get transfer to the other question. If his wife responded “Random man.” and “Brown bear.” for example it would be reduntant to ask the same question when the subject was a woman.

Are you afraid you’ll get the presumption that most women are misandistic due to your exposure to misandry? If so then I’m say that you shouldn’t worry that much about it since you sound aware of what constitutes bigotry and you are actively trying to avoid it. If you are talking about wanting to clap back against misandry with misogyny sometimes then that is different but I still think you shouldn’t be worried about it. That feeling isn’t born out of misogyny’s source (ignorance and bigotry) bu…

On the internet? Probably the best way to respond is to not respond at all. Misandry is widespread and sometimes it is concealed as support for women’s issues so you’ll be going against both misandrists AND misguided people. You’ll be outnumbered and the dismissal of these issues can erode your mental health as it happened to me. In real life people are way more chill because they see you as a human being rather than a profile picture. I’ve encountered brainrot gender politics in real life much …

I’m sorry you experienced that OP. It’s true that many support spaces, especially gender neutral ones, are very hostile towards men. Victim support doesn’t exist for men, doubly so if you are a victim of women. You’ll be accused of being a misogynist, a liar or you’ll have your trauma invalidated or ignored. I’ve had to leave many spaces because my mental health was deteriorating rapidly and even know I feel the side effects.

Women can outperform men in military, sure average man is better at most things but women aren’t like the children or the elderly; they can participate in war. Hell when the times were desperate women were indeed conscripted into wars, just of course again not as much as men. Clearly women being exempt from conscription is more about misandry rather than efficiency, also considering how women are allowed to be volunteers.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/04/24 03:22 PM

If it isn’t voluntary why not also draft able bodied women? Or is it only involuntary for men?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/04/24 02:26 PM

Those are both cases of treating men and women differently based on their sex. Why is one not sexist because “men and women are different” while the other is? Yeah because men being forced to join the military and witness the horrors of war is such a good outcome for society. Though I guess we are used to ignoring men’s suffering.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/04/24 02:26 PM

Let's not try to turn society back two thousand years, just because we think it's unfair that men are on the front line. That's plain silly. I was going to say that let’s indeed not turn society back two thousand years by forcing innocent men to die on the battlefield for the crime of being men then I remembered that it is a practice that still holds true today. Also we don’t “think” men dying on the front lines is unfair, it IS unfair.

So you don’t think it is sexist to not hire women because they can get pregnant and take a maternity leave?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/04/24 01:55 PM

True and society makes social outcasts of men who refuse to serve, yet for men it is also institutional as the government will hunt you down and arrest you if your refuse to serve, the same isn’t true for women and making babies.

Is not hiring women because they might get pregnant and take a maternal leave not misogynist? If it is then so is male only conscription.

To denigrate “torturous work” to “doing a favour” is what is disingenuous. “Doing a favor” was for a single instance, which wasn’t what I was calling “torturous work”, I called “torturous work” “labor” instead, because it is. The effects of work so bad that it destroys your physical body beyond repair and leaves irreparable mental scars is as bad as exploitative sex work. Sex work also damages your body and leaves irreparable scars as constant sex carries the risks of STDs and pregnancy. Mental …

The effects aren’t just as bad, you’re being disingenuous. Being forced to do a favor isn’t as bad as being forced to have sex. Being forced to do labor isn’t as bad as being forced to have sex to make a living. Like I said, even laborers don’t agree with that, because sex is much more intimate. Ask laborers why they hate their jobs. Their answers will range from “I have little time for myself” to “It is extremely tiring” but almost none of them will say it makes them feel violated because like …

Torturous work might be more accepted in current society but that doesn’t mean it should be. Yes torturous work shouldn’t be acceptable but that doesn’t mean it is comparable to essentially getting raped every day. If you ask laborers if they would rather have sex with men for money, 9/10 they’ll say no. Military exploitation is not as intimate as sex work but it is comparable in violating your body. This I would agree with as military work can give you severe PTSD. And coercing someone to worki…

Your body is personal regardless of if’s sex or work. Your body isn’t as personal as sex. You go outside with your body, you don’t have sex in public. If workers were made to work naked or something then yeah I’d somewhat agree but in the context of sex work and other work sex work is much more intimate. Yes it’s more intimate but that doesn’t make it worse because of that, you have to explain why that makes it worse. Because it is intimate, it is something that’s close to you. Since it is close…

But that’s not the same though, “jew lover” doesn’t necessarily imply someone is doing what they are doing for jewish people’s attention. However “pick me” implies that the woman does it for male attention. It is the same reason why “she won’t fuck you bro” is misandrist because it assumes that men only want female attention.

I don’t think this is the case and this is coming from my years of experience in support spaces. I’ve seen so many female victims of rape be dismissed by age old victim blaming tactics such as “what was she wearing?” or just general ignorance. I’ve seen women call each other sluts and be against abortion as well. On another hand I’ve also seen men call male victims “lucky” or say “Why didn’t he push her off” or “Erection means consent”. I’ve heard men say that “men don’t cry” as well. But the th…

While it is true that some places killed more men than women the majority of the victims were women because in areas where the most killings happened it was women who were the majority of victims. You seem aware that women aren’t inherently bad or evil. You are able to criticize your emotions and think logically instead. I think that’s a great virtue. I also have negative thoughts about women based on my experiences with them but I can remind myself that women aren’t their gender and thus I get along with women fine. At least you aren’t a hypocrite, but in my opinion it isn’t a responsibility by gender. People will often try to solve their own issues first, women and men alike. However the responsibility doesn’t fall on one gender, it falls on the collective. Those who can help should help, and they shouldn’t hinder the progress, regardless of gender. The voting against draft was sexist because voting in favor of it would lift a huge weight off men’s shoulders but it was of course not in favor of women. It w…

In terms of my personal experience, every woman I've met who claims to be a feminist recognizes that violence/sexual violence against men is real and underacknowledged. Possibly, but that isn’t a revolutionary statement, that is a not-living-under-a-rock statement. The issue is that feminists often fail to realize how victimization of men is a societal problem, they instead treat it as a rare occasion or an exception. You can see this especially in how the conversations around victimization happ…

The first source is the 2010 study by CDC. There is a newer version (2016/2017) that shows that severe and non-severe domestic violence victimization is nigh equivalent for men and women. Who is to blame for men’s victimization by women? Aren’t women responsible for helping male victims of domestic violence by your logic? Men also report sexual victimization often by female perpetrators, so women would also have a responsibility to address those issues? But if men were to say that women are resp…

Okay fair, it is not the same thing and while I still don’t think it is a poor attempt I can see why someone might consider it so. Still, my first point is unchanged: The tweet/reddit post/instagram post never advocates for eugenics nor does it advocate for forced vasectomies
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/12/22 07:24 PM

While these two aren’t exactly the same the intention isn’t to make a percect 1:1 comparison. The intention here is to give a similar scenario for men to empathize the loss of bodily control. For example from what I’ve heard chestbursters from the Alien universe were metaphors for forced pregnancies. This obviously isn’t an exact 1:1 but the intent here is to help people empathize.

While it is true that men are forced to become fathers and this issue is not talked about abortion for women is also about bodily autonomy. The post is referring to the bodily autonomy part of abortion, where women are forced to carry and give birth to a child.

The first link doesn’t advocate for forced vasectomies, it is a “reverse the genders” argument. It is a stretch to call the other two eugenics either, it is more of a lack of empathy for men.

One thing I’ve noticed is how exclusionary and reductive people are to men and their struggles while talking about these things. It isn’t just “women experience this” it is also a lot of the times paired up with “men don’t have to worry about this”, and when men try to say that they also face issues it is suddenly THEM highjacking the conversation. Discussions can still be gendered even though they are of equal importance. Imagine you are talking about male suicide rates and someone brings up “w…

That isn’t doublethink. Those two statements aren’t mutually exclusive. In fact, the first statement is used as support for the second statement. The problem with women going topless isn’t just people telling them to cover up, it is also because they will be ogled and stared at sexually. That is also a reason why a lot of people don’t dress promiscuously, because they don’t want to deal with the harassment.

Men who are raped are in no way a small minority like you make them out to be. Plus the basis of my argument is that it is similar to adoption. If you also think that people who put their children for adoption should pay child support there is no reason for arguing any further

And I already said I'd have no problem with people having to pay child support to children they gave out to adoption. Yeah ig there is no point in arguing on this front. While a lot of fathers who do would refuse to pay Most fathers who run away also aren’t ones who can look after children

The state took custody from him, the child is still under 18. Where does it say this in the article And yes you did claim it is a gendered issue affecting men If I did it was because women have access to abortions if they want to opt out of parental rights, whereas men don’t.

You know child support takes 18 years right? It could stop at any point during those 18 years if the law no longer requires it. So by your logic the “law” currently protects at max 6 year old victims since it came out in 2016? Also where does it say that the issue is resolved? Finally I never claimed this was a gendered issue. Women, however have acces to abortions, so they can abort the child of a rapist. This is for sexual assault, not rape. Rape is defined by penetration federally, though the definition changes by state. I meant like putting children up for adoption Safe haven laws are generally there so that children don't get killed or otherwise dangerously neglected, so I'm willing to accept that one. Yes, but they are also a way of relinquishing parental rights. If men don’t want to be involved in a child’s life and the woman doesn’t have the means to look after the child, she can still put the child up for adoption Reproduct…

Sex isn’t always consensual, men do also get raped and are forced to make someone pregnant. Not to mention adoptions and safe haven laws are a thing

The same can be said about adoptions and safe haven laws though.

What do you think about adoptions then? Or safe haven laws? Also by reproductive coercion do you mean rape?

Do you know how much 1 in 9 men is in the us? I’ll give you a hint: it is more than 140k

Women also rape men, sex isn’t always consensual and condoms aren’t foolproof. Not to mention the argument that sex has risks is also an argument that can be used against adoption and safe haven laws. Both parties know sex results in a pregnancy. Women also know the risks of pregnancy. Not to mention raising a child you never wanted also weighs EXTREMELY heavily on men. You act as if an unwanted baby is a miniscule problem for men while it actually is life changing

I don't look at the slanted sources men on PPD try to use to make their little points. NISVS is a study conducted by the CDC, not to mention it is symmetrical. It looks at both male victims and female victims. An estimated 91% of victims of rape & sexual assault are female and 9% male. Nearly 99% of perpetrators are male. 1 This US Dept. of Justice statistic does not report those who do not identify in these gender boxes. Rape is defined as “Forceful penetration”. Women who rape men don’t penetr…

Google is your friend. Apparently it is your enemy. Google NISVS for fuck’s sake. Nah brosef. I don't allow for dudes who yell whataboutisms at me. It isn’t whataboutism when you claim that a problem that applies to both genders actually applies to one. Also whataboutism has nothing to do with you trolling and deflecting when women are held accountable for their actions
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 06:50 AM

Concern trolling? What? How is that concern trolling? You are the one who is being dishonest. 1 in 9 men is much larger than %20 of prison population of men. Funny how women act like they’re the ones who are the most critical of themselves, yet when they are shown that women are also violent they start deflecting like their lives depend on it You have such a hard time accepting that women are also violent even when you are given sources.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 06:43 AM

The entire prison system doesn’t compare to the entire SOCIETY. Do you know how much 1 in 9 men actually is? Women ARE the majority of perpetrators of rape against men. Like I said, look up NISVS 2016/17, which you probably haven’t even cared to look.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 06:33 AM

Yep. Rape of men is often committed by women. Look up NISVS conducted by CDC. 1 in 9 men are made to penetrate. Most men who are made to penetrate are victims of women. Most male rape victims are victims of women. But you probably didn’t know that, yet you still think women are the ones who are reflecting on themselves
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 06:18 AM

DV and rape of men is highly committed by other women, but the conversations about these topics is still highly gendered. “Men are the perps, women are the victims” etc.

Sealioning? When did I ask you for sources? Or does sealioning have another meaning I’m not aware of? Also it still is disgusting how you called rape of men a “niche” issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 06:00 AM

Rape of men is in no way “niche”, it is a serious issue and nowhere did I say “all focus”. Stop strawmanning Also it is mostly women here being critical of men for not understanding the issues that affect women.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 05:57 AM

Yeah so where are the women who say “don’t rape, understand consent” etc.? Why don’t you question that?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/22 05:51 AM

There are a lot of comments from men about rape and violence as well, and are actually the top comments. There is no comment about rape from women, while women also rape men at worrying rates.

“Noooo it’s more often women that care (sexist assumption with the basis of men being worse people), men are more often assaulted by other men anyway(a false assumption with the basis of men being rapists and women being victims, also completely irrelevant)!”

Only male victims being penetrated. True, but it is still a forward step The CDC followed her advice to consider male rape victims in another category 'made to penetrate', so they're ignored by the summary, which only mentions rape victims as defined by them. Source for this? As far as I know it is because of legal definitions. Not to mention CDC talks about “made to penetrate” when talking about male victimization statistics. She's considered anti-feminist by most mainstream feminists. You can …

No, not at all. There was no conspiracy or movement of men in general to oppress women in general, The quote doesn’t speak of conspiracy, it is talking about what happened regardless of intent. certainly not with an absolute tyranny. True this, that line feels more emotional or exaggerated for impact If anything, women were more often spared the harshest of fates, and were more often protected, at the expense of men. It could be argued that they were privileged with not having to sacrifice their…

The history of mankind is a history of repeated injuries and usurpation on the part of man toward woman, having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over her. Isn’t this kind of true though? For years women weren’t even allowed to have jobs while thosr who held positions of power were almost always men. I'll turn it around: Some feminists not being misandrist doesn't mean that feminism in general is not misandrist. Yes, this is exactly why I wanted examples of misandry withi…

Any misandry that’s feminists exhibit is because of the misandry in general, not something inherent to feminism. The main MRA sub being shit isn’t vindicative of MRAs for example. Misandry isn’t a requirement to be a feminist, some feminists being misandrist doesn’t mean feminism as a whole is misandrist

Men were also forced into arranged marriages too you know? Not in the same frequency, and definitely NOT the same power structure. And, not to be that guy.. but the chances of a woman dying in her arranged marriage are probably waaaaaay less than a man dying in a war he was conscripted into so, in this specific case I would say "Men had it worse" Wars aren’t eternal, they don’t happen every 5 seconds. There were tons of men who weren’t being drafted into war. But the real point here is that your…

Homie you think male peasants who are drafted to war go on a luxury cruise? You think the woman who was in an arranged marriage to her husband who rapes her every day is having a better time? Nobody said men had it good but saying that men had it worse is just ignorance. Tell me about MGM (circumcision)? Sure tell me about FGM then. Tell me about the boys that female teachers discriminate against? Men’s issues also exist, nobody is disputing that. However women had it worse historically, and fem…

I mean, of course feminism has championed women's rights, and that is something we support. Yeah this is what I meant. Is feminism explicitly anti-men or are the parts of it that hurt men feminists who misunderstand the talking points?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/09/22 10:59 AM

Feminism isn’t comparable to white racists at all. White people always had the right to vote. Unlike white people women have been oppressed throught history. That is not an apt comparison at all. I have seen many feminists who were hurtful to men but that isn’t vindicative of feminisM, it is vindicative of feminisTS.
